It was obviously his backhand skills, not necessarily a smash but he played several backhands overhead and underhand and they were all at different placement and this was very tricky because the opponent couldn't guess where to go, Taufik's backhand smash is actually very strong, but Taufik's play is not very consistent, and his backhand and net plays often go out or in the net, that's not very positive for the match. But when his play is working,it's absolutely catching.I hope he can do better.

That is really hard to do, I can do that in practice, never in a game though. I don't really think of it when i'm playing which sucks because those shots are nice. Usually I do a dropshot if I have to use my backhand.

correct me if I'm wrong.. The person that did the cross court backhand was not Chen Hong. because he is the one serving and Chen H. in the score board is 0. and Chen J. is 6 I think. How can Chen. H. serve if he doesn't have any score...

the scoring system is change from 21 back to 15 in may 2006... then they use the 21 again in august..

maybe this tournament was between june-july where 15 point system being used..

Yea, I believe I've seen a clip somewhere of Chen Hong firing a faster backhand smash. Taufik is still the best in backhand, but I think Chen Hong is close behind; both have problem keeping their backhands in the court when us mortals have problem trying to send it half court =)
