Though she has never squealed like Mariah, she has rubbed on the whistle register more times than I can count and it doesen't sound like the top of her voice. Of course it's never been officially confirmed but alot of people say and think she has a 5 octave vocal range. I say she does, most woman have a Whistle Register and the whistle register is a learned tecnique. What's more impressive is when an artist can bridge the gap between normal head voice and the whistle register which Celine can.

not all whistles are the same...christina has a very thin one, she's not even able to do it all the time, and she does not reach the fifth octave...singers like rechelle ferrell, minnie ripperton, chante moore or mariah carey (mostly in her prime) easily reach the fifth octave with the whistle note, but not christina, and definitely not celine

hey how do you know christina cannot hit the fifht octave? have you heard that from her lips? have you listened that? NO then don't say anythin you don't have any proof of ok?. Now christina can sing with whistle she just doesn't like to use this technique a lot like mariah carey (for example) does. I would even say that it seems mariah will be nothing without her whistle because everybody recognizes her because of that always saying: oh that was so high or sth like that...anyway

the whistle register is not exactly something officially endorsed by say classical musicians.first off the term whistle register itself is a term created by online pop music fans, in particuliar wikipedians who established it (before that there were a lot of different terms for it). you'll usually find pop singers or others trying to prove a point (like some freakisch i can go higher than u) do it. it's more of a gimmick than a a widely accepted/respected type of singing
