I was AT this bitch, I never puffed so much quality pot in my life. There were old couches thrown around on the air strips and I would just plop down and twist up, puffin with security and shit. People were advertising huge nuggets out in the open for sale, nobody cared, 3 days of mindlessness, nitrous at 6 in the morning with coffee, bong hits all morning. I was 18 and there was so much pot for sale, the prices dropped like shares of enron! good times
Summer of 97 - I was 18 and I was in preseason for the Plattsburgh State Men's Soccer team when this was going on.......missed all 90's August Phish for pre seasons. Wouldn't trade it for the world....will never forget these days.........caught the Island Tour next spring. Life is give and take.
Just have to comment as well here. Along with d4r2t0, me and my buddy sat way up front and waited hours for this set. We volleyed with a beach ball (Page side vs. Gordon side!). Watched a guy with a huge fro puke, and a spaced out girl dance for a half hour to a story being read. It was a different time indeed. Haven't felt a sense of mass significance since that set. That glow stick dome above our heads, rising and falling with the music nailed it. My best Phish memory. Tears. Yeah.
thanks for sharing this! 31 married and a little more responsible now... what memories... me and my buddy followed them from Colorado that year... drove back through Canada and go held up in customs... thank god I told him to stop so we could stash are stuff in his dogs dog food bag... it worked
I was at the GREAT WENT it was one of PHISH's best I too wish I could Go back and do it again it was also my last Phish show before i moved to Germany It made me home sick for a moment but im better now Thanks for making this entry make more
I just creamed myself, had a heart attack, a grand mal seizure, and creamed myself again... twice. This entire show was paradise. The glider, the burning structure, the people on stilts, hucking a frisbee with people I ran into from my hometown in front of the stage, good LSD, horn honking at 4:20 AM and PM, some random guy duckin into our tent just to smoke us out, and hours of pure bliss listening to some of the best music ever! As stated in BitSwMotl,"Some chicks ripped up there in Rabbits."
i love the butterfly-in-your-stomach feeling of arriving to a festival. silver, you're truly blessed to have caught all the shows you did. thanks for this great audio.
