I was soooooooooooooo GLAD when they fixed Bobbys teeth after their their first few performances! And till this day I hav never seen anyone w/ that many gaps and spikes in their mouth. Yall from back in the day know what Im talking about LMAooOO
I have to say that when New Edtion first came out with candy girl I didn't like them. I thought they were a cheap imitation of my boys the J5, then Popcorn Love came out and i was like they Aw right but then they released IS THIS THE END and i was like these boys are BADDD!!!. Ive been a fan ever since.
This is classic. I was literally waiting for an elevator in between classes when this song was released in philadelphia. We were in the 9th grade changinging classes when somebody turned there boom box on. Can you imagine a bunch of freshman hearing candy girl for the first time. Like a scene from "fame". We were actually dancing in the hall. Once again CLASSIC. HSES CLASS OF 86!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya'll gotta remember this song was already a couple of years old even at the time of it's released. It was released in 83 but I think I remember hearing Maurice Starr or one of the N.E. members saying that it was actually recorded in 1980 or something. Don't quote me.
omg no dey shudnt have made him sing like that!he sounded like an older person singing this song tryna imitate his voice lol I kno his voice was changing but dey cud have made it work wit his deeper voice.
WOW is this rare..you will never see this footage anywhere except for youtube. First off Ralph is singing in falcetto and his regular voice...his voice doesnt seem to be cracking at that time so I wonder why Maurice made him sing this way ...
@batmancollegestudent I agree. But, I think that singing falsetto probably will help to preserve his voice. I did wonderful why Ralph was not singing in his natural rich tenor as the song was originally recorded.
Guess many people don't understand that singers utilize their falsetto's when their natural voice changes. Plus I doubt that most tenors even at Ralphs age shown here would be hittin the same notes that they could when they were much younger. It happens to all vocalist at some point. Most of the time they just transpose the key down. Can't expect Joey Mcintire to still be singing "Please Don't Go Girl when they got older in the original key either (lol)
Outstanding... Man does that bring back memories... One of the better live versions of that track by the fellaz at that age... That is no doubt NE Singing!! Oh and no doubt Ralphs voice was changing!! He and the rest of the fellaz sounded great on this track and did when I saw them live during that same period!! Thaks for posting!!
BBD, Bobby Brown and Ralph, later on Jonny Gill,,,, love this group in the days..

Ralph should have just sang it in his natural voice it sounded a lot better than him trying to hit the high notes.

@batmancollegestudent Yeah, it probably would've worked out better if they had lowered the key to the music.
