  • MOST religions claim that what they say comes from God. Therefore, we do well to heed the words of Jesus’ apostle John, who wrote: “Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.” (1 John 4:1) How can we test something to see if it comes from God?

  • How can you recognize people who love God? The Bible says: “This is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments.” (1 John 5:3) Love for God moves people to respect the Bible’s moral standards. For instance, God’s Word has laws on sex and marriage. Sexual relations are permitted only within marriage, and marriage is to be permanent. (Matthew 19:9; Hebrews 13:4)

  • Rranzwertree, “All of physics is based on the understanding that the very, very, very unlikely never happens.” (MIT faculty physicist, 1997) Without that basic understanding, there is no foundation for any assumptions of physics or cosmology. Since you declare that REALITY “ridiculous and “stupid” our exchange is effectively terminated. I wish you well.

  • yeah im all fucked from being raised as one. i though i would never see my 18th birth date that i would be in the new order the world is going to be destroyed and you will if you dont follow the truth im know 33 and a avid weed-head getting my degree

  • I know of a guy who is bipolar and suffers from depression,,these things he had before he started studying with the witness after being Baptiste he calmed down with med a lot more then before..so hate on them they expect it..Jesus was hated so following them they expect it,,they don't like it but it comes with the territory.

  • @TheButtascotchbro1 Yeah, yeah, they hated on the people from James town too.

  • @myuserid1969 BIG DIFFERENT..1 NO COOL AID..AND WE ARE NOT TRYING TO KILL ANYONE..AND WE ARE NOT A CULT..I FOLLOW KNOW MAN...

  • @TheButtascotchbro1 Too bad many people die from your blood transfusion bands and not to mention the many suicides!

  • @myuserid1969 What prospects await those raised to life on earth?

Luke 23:43: “Truly I tell you today, You will be with me in Paradise.” (All the earth will be transformed into a paradise under the rule of Christ as King.)

Rev. 20:12, 13: “I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. And the dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds

  • @TheButtascotchbro1 Revelation 21:1-3

    New International Version (NIV)

    Revelation 21

A New Heaven and a New Earth 1 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place

  • @myuserid1969 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

  • @myuserid1969 Trust me I have seen many who have taken a transfusion and still died..as a ER Medic I see it all..

  • @TheButtascotchbro1 Yes, but have you seen those who refuse them who could have lived like thousands of jws?

  • I was a mental health worker and I must say..out of 100's only a small few were witness And I mean a small few..my point..anyone can become mentally Ill it has nothing to do with their religious beliefs..

  • mental illness?what religion do you propose us to take?have you seen your doctor lately?

  • @napadaanlang243 Why jump from one unsupported theology to another? How about no religion? Reality is an interesting place. You should visit sometime.

  • @anzwertree In REALITY what are the probabilities—did life arise by chance or not?

  • @Bibelforscher77 I know you're not invoking probability here. What's the probability of your god? However unlikely life was to get started, an omniscient creator god from a parallel dimension is infinite more improbable. Besides, "chance" is not a valid alternative to creation. Are chemical reactions random chance happenings? If you mix one thing with another, you get a new compound. It's not chance, it's chemistry. Take natural selection for instance. Natural selection is the opposite of chance

  • recent Pew survey said JW have less earning power and education less than Penacostals...it is on line.

  • I am 4th gen JW and wonder who would CONVERT, seems to be troubled people at time of crisis. would like to see more scholarly on this, thank you so much. signed, university level and possible master's thesis...would like to see if narcissism.

  • The JWs I worked with were not social people at all. The JWs stuck together at work. Although they were pleasant to me, they were very selective in who they socialized with (nothing totally wrong with this), They held the lowest positions and did not really stress educating themselves further. They were good at what they did though. They did not come before their time and did not stay 1 min. past their time. You can set the clock to them.

  • • Jehovah's Witnesses believe that generations actually overlap and that multiple generations really equal just one generation. They believe that in 1919 a group of men were chosen as Christ's Faithful and Discreet Slave based on their courageous teachings found in The Finished Mystery of 1917; one of the most absolutely nonsensical books ever written! They grafted the insane prophetic teachings of William Miller and the Millerites. Yet they would accuse others of being mentally diseased!

  • @malveck1 I was 17 when I read "Then Is Finished the Mystery of God". Big mistake! It totalled brainwashed me into a belief system that gave me much fears over the years. I mean, that was in 1984! No one could've told me then that I would be a healthy 45 year old man in 2011 and that the world would still be here. Yes, I've survived the Witnesses and now I'm ready for another year with graciousness and happiness towards my source. Not a God with a made up personality taught by JW.

  • In summary

  • Ex-witness here. I've been disfellowshipped almost 10 years now. It bothers me each and everyday and is a big division within my family. My 2 children is being raised not knowng how to socailize as a family. I love all witnesses, however this disfollowshipping doctorine definitely does break families up. The religion and its beliefs may stay intacted but family relationships often fall apart. I wish someone would do a formal investigation and fight this awful doctorine, we're losing families.

  • @neosoulpoet73 I've been DF'd for almost 24 years now. I don't talk to my family anymore and I even changed my middle and last name legally. I have friends that love me to no end and I've obtained a BS and MBA over the years. I still have a lot to learn about life although willing. I am gratefully healthy and relatively happy. My family may heal over time, but I do believe that if my parents had not learned about this awful religion maybe we more loving instead of fearful.

  • @girraud congrats on your Master's Degree. I had to fight to get my Bachelor's and successful career. would love to see other JW studies. also book on who runs corporations called Snakes in Suits.......( p.s. unrelated topic but take family to see Hugo in 3-D).

  • @thepixieful Hi! Nice to hear from you and thanks for the compliment. Congratulations to you on your Bachelor's and career. I'm still working on my career. I would love to see more JW's educate themselves. None of the JW's in my family have any formal education other than high school. What's "Snakes in Suits"? I'll have to look that up on the internet. Also, I saw Hugo in 3D last Sunday before last. I liked it, although, I didn't like the ending much. I was expecting more.

  • I normally don't comment on these types of videos ... but I was raised as a JW and know many JW's personally, including family members. I also know a lot of them are on medication for psychological issues. And have seen some very young ones try to commit suicide.

I won't speculate why so many JW's have mental heath issues.

  • @survivalrod I've had three friends that committed suicide successfully from August 1988 to February 1989. They left their families in so much pain; but that religion drives people to think that that's a way out because they can't handle the burdens of life and the religion.

  • this doesn't surprise me. anyone who joins a cult is unbalanced. All cults thrive on the mentally ill. it feeds their neurosis.

  • what a joke . .

  • let me add tho it kept me from having kids at early age i read well and love God but where do i go from here now alot of elders kids that grew up with me that didnt like me r now out the truth and do more wrong than i now they apologize to my mother and try to talk to me but i dont care just wish the elders anf higher ups would listen to a chids heart and mind so they wont sit here like me with nothin to look foward to but to wish u was never here

  • plz listen to me i love Jehovahs witnesses i grew up as a jw and let me put it out there that some of this is true iam going thru the mental part now i was shunned away because my mother was single in the congregation then i wasnt able to go outside not able to play any sports or get ready for carreer moves iam not sociable and the world seems fake to me not iam alone cant get good job no old friends because couldnt have any growning up really cant keep a woman because lack of training

  • Funny cause all the witnesses I know are educated and employed. This is a load of horseshit.

  • @satangel6667 Educated? How is that possible when you cant go to school? Stop lying.

  • @damightyom Guess my college diploma's a lie, eh? I ain't no witness anyways dip shit.

  • I was raised Jehovah's Witness and can testify that the hierarchy and social order is a manipulative, destructive and obsessive group. They attempt to enginner dependency so strongly that members cannot survive in normal society. Yet the Watchtower Org demands donations from people earning a living. In other words, they want slaves and they want to destroy any ability to think for oneself.

  • This man who made this video is not accurate. Moses led God's people in ancient times. The disciples lead people to accurate knowledge back in Jesus' day=Matthew chap.10. The apostle Paul and older men led the early Christian congregation. The bible says in the time of the end, true knowledge would become abundant=Daniel 12:4. Acts 1:8-Jesus says he will be with us to preach worldwide-Matthew 24:14,28:19,20. We are preaching God's name=Jehovah, and God's kingdom soon to come!-Matthew 6:9,10 :D

  • I hope the devil increases your salary by atleast 2% for this video cuz

  • wow, I guess it makes you feel superior to put down others, but Jesus was persecuted before us, so we expect it. I will pray for you. You need serious help.

  • This video is a PURE SHAME> This is OUTRIGHT FALSEHOOD! Do not believe this story. They don't have million dollar shandelier! It was in the showhouse when they bought it many years ago. It was RESTORED> they got a real good deal on it. NOT PAID MILLION DOLLARS FOR IT! The maker of this video I think is a former witness who is outright trying to decieve people. Just like Satan.WE follow Jesus Christ. We truly love our members and treat them well.We are not perfect, but we STRIVE to follow Jesus!

  • I wouldn't believe the 'Study' by 'psychologists'.They misdiagnose more times than they get it right. I have personally talked to 'professionals' who were totally 'zoned out' themselves.THEY point a finger and blame, and judge others harshly, the maker of this video, does. He's picking on a these kind people, lying about them. UNTRUTH. He is blind. He shows no compassion, just judgement. Psychology is not an EXACT SCIENCE. They are not God, and I know from personal experience they misdiagnose!

  • I don't know how these videos tell such strange stories. They must be so BORED and have nothing better to do but pick on the most meek, peaceable, kind people on earth. It's like BIG BULLIES getting their power trip picking on others. They 'FORGET' to show on this video that many of Jehovah's Witnesses used to be Catholic, and suffered many abuses and other issues as a result. People with a hard life, or who are poor, seek God more, as Jesus said.JW's are the FASTEST growing religion in the world!

  • the "witnesses" are no different than any other religious freaks! in my eyes the mormons are the biggest clowns!

  • Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses did speculate when the time of the end would be. They were eager for it.They have over the years learned not only that this is an error, but that MANY OTHER THINGS they once thought were ok, aren't.We are o trying to figure out God's Ways.Matthew 24:36 says no one knows the day or the hour. We are not able to guess when God will act. Only the Father knows. We are still in expectation of it.Sometimes when people are anxious for things they prematurely jump to conlusion.

  • @eternityandforever That is true. Just got anxious about it. However there are things they know are not true that they still preach. It is a proven fact that 1914 is not the year AND THEY KNOW THIS! Yet they wont tell its members or else they will loose ALOT of members. They impose on your concious and use it against us. There may be good intentions but it closes minds and creates judgemental thinking. read this if you dare... Matt 28,Mark16,Luke 24, and John 20. Those scripts freed me. PeAcE!

  • Because you are a mental health worker, it's seems all you can see is the mental health issue. You forget totally that we are modern day true disciples of Jesus Christ, and live in the same stressed out world that everyone else does. We are not immune to difficulties. Many of us grew up Catholic, and other religions where we were sexually and physically abused and neglected. Are you forgetting all of the many, many good things that happen to Jehovah's Witnesses who feel relief at learning truth?

  • JW's condemn others for not questioning their faith but at the same time will not question their own because they are told they have the truth even though they have a history of failed prophesies and so many other things in their history that prove without a doubt they do not have the truth no matter what spin they put on it and I'm sure they will comment on this reply because of their spiritual/mental mental illness.

  • Jehovah is God's name. Look in every dictionary, encyclopedia, many bibles. Jehovah's Witnesses serve Christ Jesus our Lord. Matthew 4:17 is when Jesus started preaching. He taught his disciples to preach in Matthew chapter 10. Matthew 10:14 tells them to go house to house. Matthew 24:14 says this good news of the kingdomwill be preached in all the nations before the end comes.

Jesus commanded his disciples to make more disciples at Matthew 28:19,20,"Go therefore and make disciples..."

  • The founders of both "faiths," the Mormons and Jehovah's witnesses, were of the Illuminati bloodline. Charles Taze Russell, who founded the Watchtower Society, was a 33rd Degree Freemason; as was Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormon cult. This story goes much deeper and whether you want to believe it or not, these religions have in fact been created by Satanism and is still controlled by them. If you are associated with them I highly encourage you to get the facts. Fritz Springmeier work is good.

  • ??? You know what, I think you had sex with your sister jajaaaa. Loco cabr.n

  • THE ONE WHO POST THIS IS USED BY SATAN

  • Comment removed

  • the one who post this nonesense video IS THE ONE WHO has mental illness,HE continuously destroys people's faith by this useless video.you people are JUST BLIND AND YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING BUT TO DESTROY THEIR IMAGE.WHATS THE MATTER TO ALL OF YOU?.YOUR JUST WASTING YOUR TIME AND YOUR ACTING LIKE A CHILD.HAVE A SHAME TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO ARE JUST USED BY SATAN.LETS OPEN OUR MIND.DONT DO USELESS VIDEO IF YOU DONT WANT THAT GOD WILL BE THE ONE WHO WILL ACT ACCORDING TO YOUR RUDE ACTIVITIES!

  • wow. If the WatchTower magazines STATE in print that they advocate medication for depression . . .then there are TONS of JW's out that there are very ILL INFORMED about what is going on! The JWs SAY they "can't" go to a doctor for medical reasons and that only "Jehovah" (Jesus) will take care of it. But . . .they are speaking out of both sides of their mouth. Which one is it guys? Is it GOD, Jehovah alone or it is God with the help of medical professionals? JW's need to wake up

  • @sandbar3000 Presently I am learning Buddha Dharma. This is so despite my firm belief that all religion is fundamentally flawed for the very reason you state. There is no one true religion because faith and balance are the responsibility of each individual, and no group can change this!. Please watch the movie ZEITGEIST, especially part one because it shows how "jesus" is only a different paradigm of celestial fixation, which is true of most beliefs.

  • I know from personal experience. I was raised with a jehovahs witness family from early years. There was such debauchery that I was forced to shut down emotionally and just "bite the bullet" for more than a decade. at seventeen I fled and lived with other JW refugees, only to find the same thing. Violence, theft, rape, all carefully concealed by older persons who blatantly lie to cover-up. I understand there do exist others who were more fortunate. RELIGION OFFERS HOPE TO HOPELESS PEOPLE.

  • @dynagravitomagnetic, religion can't say. It's only a relationship with the PERSON of Christ Jesus. No church can save a person. No Kingdom Hall. So if someone says "I go to church" I say, "That's great, have you accepted Jesus as Saviour?" The Bible makes to reference to salvation being in a church or in a group of certian people (like JWs or Mormons, or any church). It is one person ONLY. Christ. If you add to Christ, that is religion. Few people acctually read the Bible cover to cover.

  • one word: perfectionism

  • Just because somebody tells u or what we see on tv is just information we get from sources that really have no idea about what they are talkin about sometimes they just go by what they hear or read. I dont attend any church as i am a believer in if u dont do it the right way u cant do it just half at a time and right now i dont see myself being able to say i am part of any religion.

  • Have there been any studies done about Jehovah's Witnesses involved in the creative arts, i.e painting, music, drama etc... ? Do Kingdom Halls only ever use pre-recorded music during their meetings, or do they encourage people with musical ability to lead the singing? If not, why not?

  • @ExLuedenscheider because that is being competitve and u should try to single out a person better than any one else that would lose all purpose. Unlike big churches were rich people and important people get special privilieges the JW dont do that every one is treated equal.

  • @DjQuadStack How is that compatible with the entire organisation being effectively run and steered by a small handful of men?

  • @ExLuedenscheider u still have to have leadership in everything things wouldnt work well with out it. That is why you have leaders in every religion JW handle things the best way possible people just try to single out little things nobody is perfect this men earned that position and i can strongly say i believe they are doing everything with good intentions and that is why God is blessing the JW. The bible doesn't condemn money or riches if u were to ever able to read the bible read the book of

  • @DjQuadStack Job that is somebody God blessed with everything in he desired. Funny thing is im not a JW i just know they are good people.

  • @DjQuadStack I have no doubts that they are no better or worse than anyone else. I've liked all the ones I've ever met, anyway, but being nice does not make you right.

  • @ExLuedenscheider of curse it doesnt but it is one of the qualities Jesus did leave us. No matter what we may think we have no right to judge anybody thats what being humble is all about.

  • @DjQuadStack Just out of interest: How do you define "judging" in this context? Do you belong to any religious group or denomination etc..?

  • Why is it other scientific sources that refute that???

Talking about stats. one of the highest rates of suicide comes from medical professions including psychiatrists. So from your reasoning JW's and psychiatrists are on a common ground. You can manipulate stats whatever you want them to stay. This leaves me wondering doctor are you still taking your medication. (just kidding ).

  • I find using one authority somewhat suspect, I am a clinical psycho-physiologist and would like to see what else in the literature has to say to support this. Was the research by double blind experimentation and was all of this with what comparisons were used i.e. other religious groups such as Mormons etc.

Sounds suspect to me. It is like me saying that 1 in five persons at a mental disorder and four of us are o.k. which leaves the author as being the one. ( just kidding ).

  • I had the opportunity to know many young brothers in United States for about 17 years, I am talking about 5 different congregations and what I was able to see that in every congregation more than 50% of the young brother had disturbing behavior.

  • humanity v. bigotry

"Jehovah's Witnesses in the [Nazi] camps and prisons displayed virtues… namely steadfastness against the SS and humanity toward fellow prisoners… In the face of increasing brutality in our society against persons of different political or ideological opinion, these virtues have become imperative for the citizens of our country ."--S. Reiche Minister of Science, Research and Culture, Germany

  • @evidence201 So did gays and others persecuted groups.

  • [Jehovah’s Witnesses], showed unusual heights of human dignity and moral behaviour ... seemed protected against the same camp experience that soon destroyed persons considered very well integrated by my psychoanalytic friends and myself. …Members were . . . exemplary comrades, helpful, correct, and dependable. [T]hey were the only group of prisoners who never abused or mistreated other prisoners,—Bettelheim, The Informed Heart:

  • @empirical111 You obviously are not aware of the most recent scandals that have hit [Jehovah's Witnesses] in the last many years. They have been exposed for hiding pedophiles from authorities. They protect those who molest the young children and do little if nothing to help their victims. These scandals have been in the news. The scandal has happened in the USA, UK, and at the moment, the Australian chapter of the JW's have been exposed for this.

  • @frschoonover1 As we will see—“You obviously are not aware …”—is just your first of 7 false statements.

    .

“exposed for hiding pedophiles from authorities”: In the United States, over 80,000 elders currently serve in over 12,800 congregations. During the last 100 years, 11 elders have been sued for child abuse in U S lawsuits. U S Court penalties for “hiding pedophiles from authorities”—zero.

  • @empirical111 You obviously don't watch the news. I do watch the news and I do watch the world. My statements are not false. They are true. They do hide pedophiles from authorities and they do little if nothing to protect their victims.

It isn't false at all. It is truth.

  • @frschoonover1 RE your #2 — “Exposed for hiding pedophiles from authorities”, the Catholic Church was penalized over $3 billion in U S civil and criminal court lawsuits. In all your “watching” how much have U S courts penalized Jehovah’s Witnesses for “hiding pedophiles from authorities”?

  • @empirical111 We're not talking about the Catholic Church here. We're talking about Jehovah's Witnesses. Leave the Catholic Church out of this. Stay on topic, will you.

Check out Silent Lambs, which is a website that has the whole truth about the pedophile hiding Jehovah's Witnesses.

As of now, this discussion is over with.

  • @frschoonover1 April 2002, silentlambs bulletin (982-2873) “Lets see how they [Jehovah’s Witnesses] stand the litmus test of the U S justice system.” You say, the website “has the whole truth…”. So what does it say U S courts penalized Jehovah’s Witnesses for “hiding pedophiles from authorities”?

  • @empirical111 I said that this was over with. I have chosen not to discuss anything further with someone who is an ignorant sympathizer of the worst religious cult in the world.

Again, this is over with. I refuse to discuss this matter further.

  • @empirical111 There are also many JW's serving time in prison for child molesting and also, many who have molested children within their organization are still actively preaching door to door and street ministering to people. They actually condemn all other sexual eveils, but condone the molestation of children. If that is showing unusual heights of human dignity and moral behavior, what isn't? Good question, huh?

  • Oh. Did I offend someone by describing JWs as a cult. Darn. Maybe I should just say a false religion. A false religion can always be fingered by what they have to say about Jesus. They say and believe all the wrong things about Jesus. They deny His divinity and make Him less than He actually is. Cults, xcuse me, false religions don't even know who Jesus is.

  • @DeeStinger1 Amen! ;)

  • CULT is a vicious ‘snarl’ word, a ‘word weapon’-- “derogatory, ambiguous, inflammatory and damaging”. (Dillon & Richardson, 1995, 23f) Using the word CULT to label certain religious groups denigrates the religious freedom of a diverse population.

  • CULT

"It is important for people to become aware of the bigotry conveyed by the word … to the way it dehumanizes the group's members. Labeling a group as subhuman becomes a justification for violence against it." (Wessinger, 2000)

This prejudicial use of CULT is a product of the 20th century and a result of the Anti-Cult Movement.

  • Demon possession is often confused with mental illness also. Satanic powers are how the JW cult came to be in the first place. They're still blinded by satan. Run from them. Close the door in their face. Beware of these wolves in sheeps clothing.

  • A psychodiagnostic study of Jehovah's Witnesses concluded:

"The results obtained characterize the members of the researched group as a whole as psychologically balanced, having positive social attitudes and a high degree of social and mental adaptivity. The general level of psychological disorders within the group made up 2%, while amongst the country's general population it is approximately 30%."--V. Kagan, Psychiatric Physician and Director of Scientific Programs, 1998

  • @Bibelforscher77 something tells me this study was done BY JWs. The rigidity, focus on death, not to mention it being a safe haven for men who abuse their wives, men who prey on children, and the tattle tale elements of this cult foster mental illness. "High degree of social and mental adaptivity"? Give me a break. Adaptivity, they aren't allowed to associate with non-JWs. That is NOT adaptability. If they were sure of their faith, they wouldnt have to isolate.

  • @makezmuzic Empirical evidence contradicts your comment on every point. For example, just a bit of research would have revealed that this study—contrary to your “something” source—was NOT done by JWs.

  • @Bibelforscher77 Does it matter who did the study. It's all true. I had three friends that committed suicide while they were JW's. My sisters are all on psychological medications and I have a brother that has problems keeping a job because of lack of education. So, do I believe this study. Hell yeah! The evidence is there. I agree with "Makezmuzic" The religion is no good for any individual and/or human family.

  • "Jehovah’s Witnesses are among the most upright and diligent of the citizenry of African countries. Were the values that they endorse and by which they live so consistently more widely diffused in Africa, some of the worst social problems from which African countries suffer would be considerably mitigated.”—Bryan Wilson, Reader Emeritus in Sociology at the University of Oxford

  • @Bibelforscher77: The research from the book you're quoting was compiled nearly 20 years ago. More recent studies take precedence, especially when there have been 8 since refuting those claims with ample empirical data from large samples.

  • @Bibelforscher77 of course it was not done BY JW, they have a few doctors and Master's degree social workers to do it, it was ABOUT JW's. recent Pew survey said JW have lowest earning power and education, less than Petacostals, the Hindus in the usa are highly educated and make great wages.

  • @thepixieful [American] Witnesses are precisely as likely as the general population to own their own home (63% in the GSS data). Despite having few college graduates among them and despite giving their primary attention to religious work, the Witnesses seem remarkably well-off economically.—Journal of Contemporary Religion, 1997

  • Extensive research documents that higher education is failing at its most basic mission. Analysis (Arum, Roksa, 2011) of more than 2,300 undergraduates at twenty-four institutions concludes:

“An astounding proportion of students are progressing through higher education today without measurable gains in their [higher order] skills … critical thinking, complex reasoning, and writing.” They are unable to ... solve simple intellectual tasks or engage in effective problem solving.

  • @empirical111: However these men who did these studies weren't educated now, they were educated decades ago when everyone agrees it was much more difficult academically speaking to get a degree than it was now. Also, attacking "higher education" as a whole is a straw man and a distraction from the 8 cases with large sample sizes and empirical evidence. Maybe instead of attacking colleges you could try coming up with an alternative explanation for the data.

  • Comment removed

  • @dfite08 My ‘critical thinking’ comment was in no way, as you falsely assume, in regard to the “8 cases” of this video. Also mistaken is your characterization of my comment as “attacking higher education".

  • @dfite08,is one, though educated, still “unable to ... solve simple intellectual tasks or engage in effective problem solving.” It takes about 10 minutes and a fourth grade education to determine that the 8 studies in this video are not as dfite08 asserts, more recent than 20 years ago, but are on average, 51.1 years old.

  • @Bibelforscher77 This says nothing about their mental health. There are many unstable people who are capable of functioning reasonably well in society.

  • One may point to the virtues displayed by the courageous and loyal JWs of the Nazi Regime, but that does not negate the validity of the very real, and documented claims of mental & emotional illness among the rank-and-file; though it is most evident when their "Simon Says" leaders are taking away from them, and they have to run their own lives; make their own decisions, should they leave or be "put out." Also, let's not forget the early Christians willing to be eaten by lions in loyalty to God.

  • Though this video seems to "drone on," it is absolutely true that mental and emotional illness exists exponentially within the confines of the intricate web of Watchtower doctrine, rules, mandates, and punishments...add to this restriction of information of the religion they serve, "twisted Biblical 'truth', and the fear, guilt and shame that is fed to the rank-and-file under the guise of "spiritual food," along with the belief that to "think for one's self" is rebellious, and you have problems!

  • @MrChrisswollenballs funny that i told you a year ago that you jehovah witnesses are mentally ill and here we find a whole video saying that LOL

  • @MrChrisswollenballs Aside from your crude and vulgar vocabulary, I am trying to see what your real POINT is, but aside from your insults, I just don't see one...are you an angry person? Were you raised in the Watchtower? I was very angry for years after I found out "the truth about The 'Truth', " so I can understand, but the important thing is that everyone has the right to know the REAL truth...and emotions have noting to do with FACTS. I hope you can understand that.

"The study of the personality content aspect of [Jehovah's Witnesses'] psychology-in particular, their socially significant attitudes toward law, the government and the people, their interest in life, tolerance toward those holding other views and beliefs, and their external/internal behavior control revealed in a decided majority of subjects a positive dynamic"--Dr. V. Kagan, Doctor of Medical Psychology, Psychiatry; Director of Scientific Programs; The Russian Academy of Education; 1998

  • I was raised as one, and have PTSD which is directly related to being raised as a JW.....it is a ABSOLUTE , TOTAL, CONTROLLING CULT...AND IN JW'S YOU LACK SOCIAL SKILLS , BECAUSE THE ONLY SOCIALIZING YOU ARE ALLOWED IS OTHER JW'S, AND NOTHING ELSE.....I STILL HAVE PROBLEMS TRYING TO SOCIALIZE WITH PEOPLE, I FIND IT DIFFICULT BECAUSE I JUST WAS NEVER ALLOWED TO , AND WAS ALWAYS AFRAID TO EVEN GO INTO A CHURCH THAT WAS NOT A JW ONE... IT IS A DANGEROUS RELIGION... PERIOD

  • Why don't you try to do something positive in your life? Everyone that lives in the times we are living in are stressed out, not just Jehovah's Witnesses. And as for the money, it takes or costs a lot of money to buy the buildings/equipment/etc. to print the good news to all the Earth. Why don't you harp on the Government spending our tax dollars on bail outs for low lifes who squander it away on their own greed. This money is freely given from JW's to help others. What are you doing to help?

  • The WTS made decisions over their followers with the "bottom line" in mind. Mexico means revenue Malawi meant dirt and sticks(a perfect sacrificial lamb). The WTS is the third largest publisher in the world and all their work is done with volunteered labor. This is done by controlling a "Super Ego". Hell, even Amway isnt that screwed up.

  • 2005 The psychology of 238 Jehovah's Witnesses was the focus of one of two empirical studies by the Centre for Psychology of Religion (UCL), Belgium. According to the researchers, "These studies have the advantage of submitting common ideas to empirical testing by using methods and measures typical of psychological research."

  • UCL conclusions re psychology of 238 Jehovah's Witnesses:

"Contrary to the common idea of mental disturbance, including psychological problems, among members, there is no empirical evidence of a greater incidence of these problems in comparison to general population. Quite the opposite, several studies point to the absence of mental problems in terms of psychiatric symptoms among [members]."

  • @Bibelforscher77 I have known few JW, maybe a handful but one thing I have to say: one ( my own cousin) is forever on the verge of breakdown. Another one spent many years in an asylum. Another was lending money at an astonishing interest rate. Others have disfunctional families. I have been visiting my cousin later and in the ten days I stayed with her, she has been visited four times by members of the JW to see why she was not going to assembly. If this is not control.....

  • @Bibelforscher77 Tell that to all of the mentally ill Ex Witnesses and current Witnesses that I've met. Of course you would say whatever you can to support your cult, that is the nature of brainwashing. I used to believe it until I turned to science for truth. I know that cults are psychologically damaging because of the rules of mind control and brainwashing. Phobias and guilt are enforced on members creating mental problems.

  • @MsAgnosticatheist Thanks, MsA, for the insights into your ‘complicated’ beliefs. However, if you would please, help me understand— By what thought process does one that has “turned to science for truth” dismiss empirical evidence?

  • I met several Jehovah Witnesses when I got involved with them. All had had breakdowns and were on anti-depressants.

  • They dont believe in hell, they only believe in paradise. But for me... spending eternity on a planet only habitet by jehovah's witnesses would be hell.

  • Almost all my relatives are witnesses, and I was raised as a witness also. I have borderline personality disorder, my cousin has schizophrenia, his brother has psychotic depression, my granpa takes mood-elevators, my aunt has social anxiety and depression.

  • @kalwet i also know many jw's who are mentally ill

  • @Jig21

As far as I know 1998 is the latest psycho-diagnostic study of Jehovahs Witnesses. "The results obtained characterize the members of the researched group as a whole as psychologically balanced, having positive social attitudes and a high degree of social and mental adaptivity."--V. Kagan; Compiled Under the Supervision of the Institute of Education in Social Work of the Russian Academy of Education

  • "Jehovah's Witnesses in the [Nazi] camps and prisons displayed virtues, which, today as in the past, are indispensable to the continued existence of a democratic constitutional state, namely steadfastness against the SS and humanity toward fellow prisoners In the face of increasing brutality in our society against persons of different? political or ideological opinion, these virtues have become imperative for the citizens of our country."- S. Reiche; Minister of Science, Germany

  • Have no idea what your reply is supposed to mean. There is no doubt in my mind that JW's were sincere in their beliefs. Just like cattle has no idea that they are walking into a slaughterhouse. But the history of the WTS is very spotted, facts are just covered up. Look into Malawi vs. Mexico rules. Malawi JW's were persecuted and killed for not buying a .75 political card, when at the same time JW's in Mexico were in the common practice of bribing officials to get out of milatary service.

  • @anarthrousPN Youre right, its a fact, they did. Why didnt they do the same for BLACK PEOPLE during the AMERICAN CIVIL RIGHTS ERA? Or in ANY ERA for that fact.. I know for a fact they had segragated Kingdom halls. I guess when it came to american BLACKs you throw down your "torture stack"... Dont take my word for it find out yourself.

  • @anarthrousPN The UK JW's supported the Nazi's before the Nazis turned on them. They are totally anti-sematic. They blame the Jews for their own persecution.

  • Interesting observation. They also outspokenly preached a message of neutrality in their door to door ministry while simultaneously handing out anti-war, anti-Hitler propaganda that resulted in their subsequent imprisonment in the camps. Yet amazingly, very few of the Witnesses today acknowledge Judge Joe Rutherford's role in their persecution for his pressure on the members to promote sedition while claiming neutrality. You do understand that neutrality is in no way seditious, yes?

  • @Prop,

That is so true. All organized religions use fear techniques and so forth. Thats why I don't follow any of them. they are all false prophets and apostates. They all have fallen short of the will of God, the Grand Architech.....

  • I find it most ironic to see the user Smagisa posting a video response to this video in particular. Somehow it all is beginning to make sense.

  • Smagisa's always got to put her two cents in.

  • Especially where mental issues are mentioned.

  • Please find current, 2009 statistics. These studies are very old and out of date. Believe half of what you hear and less of what you read. Wow.

  • "No one should be forced to worship in a way that he finds unacceptable or be made to choose between his beliefs and his family" (Watchtower Society ®, July 2009, Awake!, p. 29).

  • I was a J.W. and now I am retarded!!

  • If they were so mentally ill they wouldn't have so much money! ha!

  • @drecasjr what money? They have nothing except property no cash! Hell they are all janitors where would they get money from?

  • ON PSYCHOLOGY'S DIAGNOSIS OF THE

    "RELIGIOUS MIND" AS PSYCHOPATHOLOGICAL

    * From, Rationality and the Religious Mind-- Stark, 1997

  • "Religion has been a subject of sustained research since the mid-1800s. For most of its history the social-scientific study of religion employed what might be called the irrational-actor axiom. Religious behavior was explained in terms of primitive thought, neurotic impulses, and social conditioning. Although these views had little or no empirical foundation, they underpinned and constrained religious research."-- Stark, Rationality and the Religious Mind, 1997: 24
