  • This is fantastic! :-)

  • EXCELLENT

  • Amazing soul singer. Mica is on of the best female vocalist in UK.

  • @MrZelunjo36 Yeah, you're right.

  • @MrZelunjo36 Mica and Caron Wheeler have extremely soulful, marvelous voices!! Loooove, to listen to them sing anything!!

  • @celestialpathway i agree

  • Damn how can you have a haunting, sultry and sexy voice at the same time. This woman REALLY does it for me. She would own ANY of our female singers in the U.S. no one can touch her!!!

  • may be my favorite version in youtube

    'nuff said!

  • Sublime does it way better :)

  • This is so,so coo;I love itl!

    Thx for posting!

  • Her voice has matured so! Love it :)

    ~~Nandi

  • No disrespect to any other singer, but Mica OWNED this one and tore it up!!

  • @everlastingcurves yes she did

  • @everlastingcurves Yea I rather hear this than Beyonces version

  • @everlastingcurves u right

  • its makes me angry that people like Mica arent more 'famous'. Her voice is incredible, she deserves more recognition.

  • veri veri gut!

  • She BETTER get LOW like Sarah, DAMN IT!

  • @alcoholharmony haha durand. I love Mica too. She's criminally underrated

  • I've heard different people sing this song, but not like this. Extraordinary!

  • Anyone notice the facial resemblance to Jessye Norman?

  • @entrenousm You are absolutely right!! I never noticed that before.Great observation!!

  • Best vocals i have found yet. Though I really dig the Janis Joplin rendition of music, its like apples and oranges here...the piano is amazing!

  • Wow. I love her version! Never heard of her, but I will listen to her now! I love a beautiful deeper female voice because they typically get less attention than higher voices.

  • @noirgurl Haven't ever heard of her either. Heard Janis Joplins version first, but this is amazing!

  • The piano rifts are so sexy...

  • Love this song and what a wonderful version... Thanks for sharing

  • best version I've ever heard....

  • she's a great singer..i love her and i'm an old crooner...check out my new videos & songs as well..cheers

  • gorgeous lady! gr8 voice! she just nailed it the way it's supposed to be done.

  • Goosebumps!!!!

  • Yeah, this song is to be performed just like that!!!!!!!!! But still Sarah Vaughah' version is the best one, imho

  • can't beat janis joplin's version. if you haven't heard it, check it out...outstanding

  • @westendgla

    Don't be silly!

  • I've never got what the song was about before, but I had one of those 'now I get it' moments after listening to Mica. Loved it :)

  • God she's a beautiful black woman!!! Looks incredible in that dress.

  • i love you mica paris^_^

  • @StarlingFlight, funny enough the original is sung for a soprano. I personally think that singing this song low is cop out, Porgy and Bess was a soul Opera...Opera obviously being the main word there. I think you need to do some research.

  • i was sold at first note....

  • The best respect!

  • i just heard her sing this live! wow! amazing!

  • guys im gonna sing this song for my music exam..

    any tips please?

  • Oh wow!! Beautiful, soulful, moving... Yeah! :o)

  • One of the better versions I've heard.

  • I never knew how much range she had in her voice, its really lovely and powerful. x

  • 11 dislikes ? This is the the way it should be done. Bluesy, Cool & Sensual ! What a voice!

  • i love this song becouse wen i was a lil boy my dady played this all the time so it mean o lot to meee i just love it xxx

  • wish someone could put her version of "i'm gonna make you love me" up on youtube

  • nice! just like sarah mathias' version.

  • yes i love it. Her voice has color and personality. A beautiful, smokey sound, with power. The musical arrangement is great.

  • mercy with a voice like

    that she could bring

    "angels" to tears ...

    encore! encore! Madame.

  • Awesome!

  • She is fantastic!!!wow what a singer...great

  • Love love love. I sing this to my babies and it always puts a smile on their faces. I can't wait till their older and can appreciate this music in all it's jazzy glorious-ness

  • The best version i've heard!

    She's fantastic !!!

  • VERY well done! <3 Exactly what I was looking for with this song.

  • Awesome. Exactly as it should be done.

  • Nice!!

  • wow, up there with mahaila jackson's version.

  • WHERE oh where can I hear more music like this?? Her other music is a little too produced for me...but this acoustic song is AMAZING.

  • soulissimo,,,,,

  • AMAZING X

  • best performance of this song I've ever heard...

  • Mica Paris

Is My Real And Lovely And True Mum And I Was With My

Mum Mica When My Mum Was Singing This Song Summertime Live On Weekend wogan Show It Is True

  • I gots goose bumps & the lil hairs on the back a ma neck is going wild! simply beautiful!!!

  • this is awesome, amazing voice :)

  • hermoosa voz..!!!!

  • 5/6 years ago The Daily Telegraph in Britain mentioned on an inside page in a 2 inch column, that this woman's brother had been found skinned in a London flat. Such an outrageously violent and savage act never got any more publicity.

I guess the authorities don't want us all to know that we have black savages living amongst us in their millions?

  • Underestimated Deva, Mica is stunning, great singer and yeah,Ella is one of my heroes, two of a kind, great post!!

  • fantastic voice!

  • beautiful!!

anyone knows what key she's singing in??

  • flawless!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hello to the new Ella?

  • Listen to her tone...Goodness. She's alright with me.

  • Wow! The first note that came out of her mouth that was my initial response. She's really good.

  • I never had much interest in Mica but hearing this I think she's very very good.

  • @bakisi50 She has been very slept on.

  • What do you mean "she has been very slept on"!

  • Oh my goodness! She killin them low runs! My goodness!

  • The Best of modern versions

  • she owns this tune! rough wig though eh

  • I loved it, the second best performance :D, the 1st of course is Ella Fitzgerald :D

  • Very nice, expressive and solfull performace.

  • I dont know her. but she did this song justice its one of my fav jazz songs.

  • @cherubina except... it's not a jazz song, it's an opera song.

but anyway, MY GOD this woman has got a voice. she did one of the best jazz renditions of this song i've ever heard.

  • Beautiful song and a fantastic performance from a hugely talented singer. Mica should be a huge star with her talent!!

  • so soft soultry..a wonderful rendition of such a song. this song refers to a negro houskeeper who is the provider and singing to the child of her slave owners...this song does sing to the spirit and essence of what afro-american/negro's used to be - unified....

  • simply beautiful :-)

  • I. Love. This. Song. o_O

My nana used to sing it to me before I went to bed...

    Beautiful voice!

  • Nobody owns a song, whatever he/she is doing.

Anyhow a pleasure to have found this interpretation. Sopran on Summertime does not really fit, I fully agree. Her sound is just that way dirty that it should be.

  • Now that is the way it's supposed to be done! Smoky, sultry, cool and jazzy. I've been looking all over for a version like this.

I've heard some impressive soprano versions, too. I can appreciate the quality of the singing in those, but a high voice just doesn't feel right to me for this song.

  • wish someone could put her version of "i'm gonna make you love me" up on youtube

  • @StarlingFlight well, those "soprano versions" are the real deal. Just making it clear. Porgy and Bess is an Opera.

  • @StarlingFlight omg she is awesome! i've never heard of her before! i will be singing this version for our program. or at least try to sing it:-)

  • @StarlingFlight Before you read my comment, I want to say your point is completely valid and I see exactly where you're coming from, but just if you weren't aware, it is originally a soprano aria from the opera Porgy and Bess.

Sorry, I just didn't want to come off as just another angry, annoying youtube commenter :)

  • Hot - simply hot and real. Hits your soul - deep and sultry. Like it should be done! Bravo!

  • I love Mica's cover of this Gershwin jazz standard... OUTSTANDING!!! Like some of the comments posted I, too, prefer the

smoky, sultry alto voice for this selection.

Not to take anything away from the likes of

the great Ella Fitzgerald, or contemporary

giants Celine Dion or Whitney Houston...

but Mica DOES "own" this song! Bravo!!!

    Fantastic video!!!

  • She has an amazing voice, strong yet regal.

  • this song soubngs better with a snnoky voice then high pitch one. I thing this is better then a lot of the versions. Jazzy soul classy version this is the best fantasias is great also, just adifferent way but the voice hear though deep, she sings with clarity. I heward every word

  • my favorite version

  • I've heard Whitney SING it and she sang it well!

Ive heard Celine SING it - she nailed it!

Ive evemn heard Ella and Leona sing it - both were GREAT!

but Mica OWNS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as if it were written for her and her alone!!!!!

  • OMG FANTASTIC .__.

  • wow, this is my of my all time favorite songs and thisis byfar the best perfomance i have ever heard!!!

  • Bellissimo!!!!!!!

  • Does anyone know if there's anywhere I can buy this song or even the whole show?

  • OMG!! How the hell am I just discovering this woman???

  • Wow, what a voice!

  • Beautifull !!!

  • THIS IS WONDERFUL.

  • I LOVE her take on this....smoky but clear, low but high, fluttering but strong.....too good!

    Thx @Benjirocks

  • is there any way to download this version...? it's just..perfect

  • @heberlingo it's on her latest album..."Born Again"

  • Love her, glad she's back singing and recording

  • yes

  • awesommww love itt

  • She is good, but I hope she could move a bit like little Amy, know what I mean? I love Mica.

  • Perfect version, she sings it perfect!!!!

  • I like this version muuch much better thatn Leona's. Even though Leona has a nice voice and an impressive voice range, but there cannot be any comparison between her and Mica...

  • Im totally agry with you!

I think that Mica's version is one of the bests.

  • fAntascias is better

  • @crmeldelitee88

    Don't be silly

  • Reminiscent of Fantasia's power rendition.

Personally I prefer Leona's dulcet tones. Don't shoot me!

  • Love it! Need all of her albums now! love new discoveries.

  • beautiful <3

  • This is real real real real real real better than (for example) Leona Lewis' version!

    Powerful!

  • Real.........

  • luvvin it,great post!

  • Wow! What POWER! What SOUL she has in her voice! Deffinate hints of Patti Labelle and Nina Simone in there, but uniquely her own too.

    Stunning.

  • i love her singing it put cheerbumbz on me Godz made her Voice so beautiful lol how could u not love her

  • I prefer the Jerry Reed Chet Atkins version.

  • It's the best performance of this song I've ever heard!

  • I so totally agree with you . . .I heard it on her cd and I was like WOW ! ! ! ! !

    That's why I love Mica .

  • I love this performance and her style, no doubt, but Fantasia still remains my fave cover of this tune. Tasia put her guts into it, and you can feel it. Gives me goosebumps every single time!!!!

  • What a voice! what a style!

    Miica!

Can anybody really do it better than this?

  • She has a beautiful rich voice,--so distinctly AfAm and wonderful.

  • Even though she's British of Afro Carib origin.

  • I think I prefer this cover out of all the ones I have seen. Fantasia and Jill Scott, have also done great covers of this.

  • Does anyone know where this performance is from? I know this is on her new album that just came out. yet I have't gotten it yet.

  • gershwen;) or something like that

  • Through the years, Summertime has been a hard song to perform....but when done it has been done exceptionally well by all.

  • This is the silliest conversation. You've missed out a ton of great black vocalists from Britain, including Sade, Leona Lewis, the incomparable Shirley Bassey, and Heather Small of M People. As for the guys, let's start with Tricky, Seal, and - my current favorite - Dizzee Rascal. If you haven't heard his #1 UK smash, Dance Wiv Me, look it up.

  • Well you've proved my point that good artists make it no matter what when you name Sade, Leona and Shirley all of whom are known worldwide. But Heather Small? Really? Her? Anyway, I never doubted the vocal talent of Black British artists just their lack of originality (generally speaking of the majority - there's always the odd exception)or having the complete package. Leona is a great singer no doubt but hardly original with the sound of 'her' music.

  • Hey, don't forget, a fantastic black British Artist, Joan Armatrading, she was absolutely magic!!

  • Except Leona Lewis I haven't found the performance of the females in your post.

When U give some examples please leave links to them...

At this point I can't tell anything about your opinion and I can't make mine about performances that U ment
