Wow, thank you. I had this on a 45, but it was really trashed before I was in the double digits. Haven't heard this in more decades then I care to say.
I had this 78 when I was a kid but my copy was 7 inches. It had the same label design as this 10 inch copy. I remember being confused over what speed to play it at & it said "standard speed" on the label & I didn't know what that meant (this was in the early 70's) though now I know 78 was the standard speed in 1953.
@MaxiHMS : I had "Christmas is for Children" also. But mine is totally unplayable after it had been played until the grooves wore out! Remember the Tinker Town Santa on it also? And when mother gets up to start baking early Christmas morning, and I've got 18 cents to spend for christmas?
Cool! This wonderful tune and others from the Cricketones are a part of my childhood, but I have them on the LP "Christmas Is For Children" on the Design label and the group is uncredited. My parents bought this for us kids in the mid '60s, and it still plays well.
One of my most favorite Cricketones!! I used this a few years ago on my Christmas CD. I don't think I've ever seen the large 78 version. I have this on LP, 45 and a small 78. Super Special!! "Jing-A-Ling-A-Jing, Jing!!" So fabulous! :-)
Thanks Raymond! I've had this one several months, and I also have another large one like this I'll post tomorrow. Seems like you got all the rest of the bases covered. ha ha ha :-) Is the small 78 yellow or red? I have quite a few of those.
Neither...It's on black styrene. Lable looks like your 78 and it plays 78 but its 7 inches. Cricket put out all kinds of records. Really fun to collect. I pick them up all the time when they're in great shape. :-)
never heard this...cool!
