Remember on the aussie tour in '96 just before all the shit hit the fan, they finished a 3 hour set at the Hordern in Sydney with i reckon a 35-40 minute version of this. Double drum solo included..MINDBLOWING
I miss the times back when his came out. I had a nice girl that used to drive a decent distance in her grey VW rabbit to bang on my window, crawl into my water bed and share her vodka breath. :) She was an exploring virgin and I never did anything other than mess around. She was a dark haired sweet thang. Smart as a whip and small and fragile. I'll never forget our visits.
I think this has to be one of the finest rock songs ever. The way they hold the listener on a knife edge for so long before finally ripping their minds apart with the finale is something that even the best bands in the world could learn from.
The best upload of this track would be one that has the "conversation" at the end of Spaceboy as the intro immediately before the guitar comes in. Anyone who's listened to the actual album knows how AWESOME that transition is. SUPERHERO MUSIC!!
Not too well lol!............But I still have some of the most intense memories of my life whenever I listen to this album. I can't listen to it much, takes too much out if me
As a massive fan of Muse, I'm tired of being embarrassed by the others who run round judging stuff on how it sounds compared to Muse.
Let's clear this up: Silverfuck came way before Dead Star. In fact, The Pumpkins were a big influence on Muse back when they were young, so it's fair to say that Muse were playing follow the leader a little bit.
I remember reading an interview with Matt Bellamy years ago (in Kerrang I think) where he said that Siamese Dream was his favourite album so it's hardly surprising really.
This album is just SO heavy in my memories. Forever connected to a girl in my memories who I fell deeply in love with while I was married to a mean, nasty person. Feeling unappreciated and hurt, the "girl" (co-worker) lured me in and showed me warmth that I so desperately craved. Emotionally, I felt loved, hated, wrought with guilt, free and imprisoned all at the same time. I listened to this album the entire year, and it mirrored my every feeling at the time. Truly amazing what this album means
im a huge muse fan from USA (yes when oos frist cam out not twilight or absolution) and everyone saying this stuff about dead star intro sounds like the intro to this song is just trrying to sound like they know a lot about music and really just read the musewiki post about it. That is all long live muse and smashing pumpkins in the 90s
Can anybody just enjoy the music. No matter what genre or artist, all anyone posts is arguments about this guy is better than that guy. This guy played the drums or whatever. Shut your fuckin holes and enjoy the music. Better yet don't read or post comments. My final comment ever. Get a life people
@cook3278 Don't reiterate things if you don't know the truth... "Chamberlin performed all drum parts on the album... although he would disappear for days on drug benders that caused everyone to fear for his life." -- Butch Vig.
That's what they say....but if he's on Heroin benders for days he's either really high or really sick when he's not 'bending'... I'm not basing anything on fact, but I just remember when this came out and it was rumored that Corgan played everything. Vig's quote is in retaliation to that rumor. but from what I rememeber, my local radio station said they were essentially a 1 man studio band and a touring group
@husul Dude, impossible. Lies or something like that. Talk to a drummer that knows J.C's shit, they'll set you straight. Dopebozoish got it right, King frickin Kong.
7:03-07 is what you need to listen to over and over again. Only Heroin can make you do that! lol
@husul No offense to Billy or you but there is no possible way Corgan could ever sound like this on drums. Chamberlain is simply King Kong on the kit.
@husul As far as I know Jimmy played pretty much all the drums on this...the big issue was that Iha and D'arcy were splitting up around that time so it was tough to get them in the studio together...Jimmy didn't really have anything to do with it...
@teamyeast Uhh...Awesome people who understand the use of having access to any song they want when on the internet and without access to their music library?
@Kitosame i know bro and just like a lo of the bands in the 90s if you where even alive you would no artist like to cahnge there own words, " what eles can i say, all my birds are grey" i saw the pumpkins and this song was on there setlist and he stated singing "im holding my head."
alright not the same level though I never could really get into machina. after siamese, the level was even brought to a peak with mellon collie..... i couldnt believe.
@08L1V10N nah, goes in this order: best - siamese dream, mellon collie, gish, pisces iscariot, like 2 songs from Adore, didn't like Machina or anything after that
@08L1V10N -Melancholy was good...until everyone jumped the bandwagon! Took about two months then all the haters were suddenly converted. They suddenly went from small venues to sold out arena shows and the magic got lost somehow...the band got stupid rich, MTV fell in love w/them and then the drugs & fame destroyed a once great indie garage band from Chicago that most people hated only a year prior. This album is still EPIC and a true time capsule and testament to their former greatness!
I love all they're albums, the only one that wasn't perfect was Zeitgeist, which only had 5 bad songs at the end of the album, and United States is a pheonomonal song and one of my favorites from SP.
Ive listened to all of Machina 1 and most of 2, there's not really a bad song on either. There's not just "some" good tunes on Machina, half the album was good. Age of Innocence, Stand Inside Your Love, Try, Try, Try, Everlasting Gaze, Glass and the Ghost Children, even Imploding Voice was good, Reminescent of Here is No Why.
Wound is also a great song. But I personally think Machina was perfect :) It was disregarded from many Pumpkins fans, SD would always overshadow the album...
