I plan on using a Remington 700 to hunt, but theres way to many options out there for me to choose from. How does the tactical sps, compared to the 700 varment?
i used high mounted leupold rings and bases for my weaver grand slam 3x10x40mm scope on a bipod...ps they gotta figure out how to get the accessories up to Canada...
I have this minus the surpressor due to shit Canadian gun laws. I love it. Im running the factory rubberized stock in ghillie green. Only ups are weaver rail for my scope, 10x-40x scope, bipod.... want to put a break on it just because its threaded... may as well use them eh... lol
Thanks for the video. I have the same rifle with some bolt work and a Jewell trigger. And how do you like that Mk 4 Leupold? I love mine. I've been researching cans, and I'm very impressed with how that Gemtech HVT performs. You helped me make up my mind. Keep the vids coming!
Nope. You need additional paperwork for the suppressor; an ATF Form 4 and a $200 tax stamp to purchase. The Remington AAC rifles are just pre-threaded for muzzle devices.
prime example on why you gotta love Remington M700 series. $700 action and barrel matched up with thousands of dollars in other hardware. Nice set up you got there.
@1ghostronin It beds the barreled action to plastic as opposed to metal. It doesnt make that big of a difference though, I can not notice a difference until I get mine out to around 600yards.
I like the Leupold Mark IV Scope Base and Rings look, but I think the Dovetail Front, Windage Adjustable Rear would be a better choice for a short action 308 right?
@GunWebsites SWFA optics are not dirt...They actually perform very well...The HD models are just as nice as night force scopes. I just bought one of their new variable scopes for on my SR-25 and it is excellent. Not to mention how well constructed they are. I Have a SWFA 16 power and it has taken alot of shots from my .50bmg, I do not think any of my other optics would take that abuse. They are awesome optics for beginners.
@parkze17, "The HD models are just as nice as night force scopes."
This should go without saying... but i cant help myself. The fact that you would even attempt to put a SWFA optic on your 50 blows my mind. It's like putting 4 donut tires on a Lamborghini. And comparing SWFA with Nightforce.... please tell me your joking.
Don't know if you still check these comments but ill ask anyway. Im tied between which rifle to buy. Im wanting a .308 to set up for long range hunting. The two rifle's I've been looking at is the Howa 1500 and the Remington 700 as they are both decent priced for a man on a budget. Any imput would be great.
Great set up, have you shot it indoors/covered area yet? I am interested in knowing what the decibel out put is in a enclosed covered area with the suppressor? thanks you.
@HenryHenHenners According to Wikipedia "[p]olice forces usually approve applications for a suppressor for hunting and target shooters" in the UK. You can buy sound suppressors/moderators from UK retailers such as Jackson Rifles, Border Barrels and JMS Arms.
@GunWebsites hey hello you can pick up a base model Remington 700 tactical for about 550 bucks then buy your own scope who says it has to be the best scope they all do the same job shit i am good with the iron sights. o by the way why is that guy wearing a crye precision shirt your at the shooting range a t shirt works just as well
@GunWebsites I have almost the same rifle set up...and it is nowhere near 5000. The rifle cost me $625 new. I have the same Nightforce scope that ran me $1400 (without zero stops). Mine has Badger rings and base that are similar in price to the MK IV cost me $150. I have no clue how much that stock costs but I bought an AICS for $700 used (like new). I have a MIMS can on mine that was $400 and a $200 tax stamp, and a $100 Harris bipod. Under $3500
That tiny suppressor works amazingly well for such a big calibre! I have an Air Arms S410K .22 (Air rifle I know) and the suppressor is about 4 times bigger than that.
how far was that, i had my .308 sps tactical out the other day and was rung an 8" plate at 500 meters first 5 shots in a row, ill post a vid i was pretty stoked tho
@FreyaServant sps tactical>699 b@c medalist stock>150 mk4 rings>100 Nightforce>1300., so approx. 2500 with the Nightforce, a grand without it,., and the muffler is up to you, anywhere from 500 to 1500 without the stamp
@trollinnoobs They are legal, you just need to fill out the propper paperwork and get a tax stamp for it, but it may be illegal depending on the state you are in.
@jfman22345 ok well, in my opinion the best .308 suppressor is the Cyclone made by Advance Armament Corp. I wouldn't get the QD one, I would get the threaded one to get the least amount of POI shift. Surefire, YHM, and many others make suppressors. Of the 4 i've shot through, the cyclone was the quietest and had the smallest POI shift. MSRP on the cyclone is $850.
Nice suppressor. I mean, it did not sound like a pellet gun, but that is not a very large suppressor for .308, so it can only do so much. Looks like a generaly good rifle designed to have accuracy to spare.

Subsonic pistol rounds such as 9x19mm are ideal as they do not create a sonic boom when fired.
@SpecJack15 yes, but you still cant locate the shooter by listening to the sonic boom. that sound comes off the bullet in a perpindicular fashion the whole way down range until it the bullet drops below mach 1. therefore, anybody down range heres a boom come from right next to them when the bullet passes, not from the shooters location
@lane1030 Good point, unless the person down range has a Boomerang gunshot locator to effectively locate the source of the shot. Its pretty high-tech and has the ability to detect the shooter's position within 1 second with 15 degree accuracy.
@SpecJack15 yeah i heard about those, good job on the technical side. but like you said, pretty high tech, and you have to be planning on getting shot at by a suppressed sniper to have one of those, and most people dont think like that
First, the 7.62x51 and the .308 are different rounds.
Second, Any bullet can be made sub-sonic and supersonic, including 7.62x51's . It depends on what the load of that bullet is. I hand load 200 grain FMJ's into lapua brass and make my own sub-sonic .308's. Not that complicated... :)
@StickerMedia from what i'm reading no. The remington 700 standard caliber is a 30-06 but maybe thats different due to this being a tactical version. either caliber will get the job done :)
@weller31989 Ok, that's new to me. Maybe because i live in The Netherlands, where we don't have weapons lying around our house, and the exotic weapons are hard to get, and .308 is way cheaper.. On my range, all of the 700's are .308, so i thought it was more common ;)
very nice rifle! really like the whole look!

@SpecJack15

@weller31989 isnt the 308 more common?
StickerMedia 11 months ago
@StickerMedia from what i'm reading no. The remington 700 standard caliber is a 30-06 but maybe thats different due to this being a tactical version. either caliber will get the job done :)

@weller31989 Ok, that's new to me. Maybe because i live in The Netherlands, where we don't have weapons lying around our house, and the exotic weapons are hard to get, and .308 is way cheaper.. On my range, all of the 700's are .308, so i thought it was more common ;)
it'll get the job done indeed.
