  • oke thats a thing i am going to try when the moon is full here i have the same camera and i did some cool things with it but not this i once took a photo with flash of my eye extreamly close and i had a headake for a day but it wass a nice picture :)

  • freaking awsm ! which is the "zoom-est camera"?

  • @rapidistucfl seconding this, which camera can zooom the more?

  • Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you very much. Your video has inspired me and tonight I was able to capture the moon and couple of amazing moments.

  • @Nilesh1020 Glad to be of help....

  • faaaaaaaake!

Where in the world is the moon that small!

  • @zeenon Actually it always shows up smaller on film depending on the zoom of the lense, theres a little bit about it here. Also what you see in the sky can sometimes be misleading as the size of the moon "changes" due to the refraction of light as it comes through the atmosphere, especially closer to the horizon line where the "bend" is most extreme. ^_^

  • EH PIC EH PIC EH PIC EH PIC !!!!

  • Wouldnt it be crazy if u saw a sumthing run along the moon to the other side really fast lol (crazy Imagination) =)

  • OMG I WANT IT

  • @rainarzufall PANASONIC SDR-H85

  • is that true ?? or fake ?? sorry about my question.

  • It's real. i to was astonished by this cameras abilities.

  • @astoniz 100% real...

  • Wow, awesome shot!

  • how do you select digital zoom.i have the same camera never was able to find an option.can you please tell me. I mean i dont even know what zoom I am using. And the manual is a joke

  • press on the little house icon in the upper left corner of the screen. then select the toolbox icon on the far right bottom of the screen, then movie settings, then scroll down to digital zoom and click on it. the manual sucks, just look around and try things!

  • thank you so much

  • how much did u spend on this video camera

  • I paid around $1,000, but it has since gone down i believe...

  • is that a digital or OPTICAL zoom ?

  • This is the 150x digital zoom built into the sony HDR-SR11

  • how much optical zoom is it on this camera?

  • You should have had a scary face pop up

  • Not that I know of...I know you can split on into two files, but not combine two...I haven't really looked into this feature though, there isn't much in the way of a manual with the camera, and I haven't found the sony site very helpful...

  • @terri

i have a question hope you can answer it.

is it possible to edit with the camera i mean for example if you shoot two scenes can you stick them together as one raw video before importing it to the computer.

  • EXCELLENT FOOTAGE:) i HAVE THE SAME CAMERA AND AM ASTONISHED BY IT!

I HAVE 2 QUESTIONS FOR YOU IF YOU DON'T MIND?

    1. WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE MUSIC WHEN THE VIDEO FIRST STARTS PLAYING? I'VE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THAT FOR YEARS!

    2. HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO GET FOOTAGE OF THE MOON SO NICELY LIKE THAT? I MEAN WHAT WAS THE LOCATION ECT..IT ALMOST LOOKS SURREAL BUT SO GOOD:):)

  • 1) 2001 A Space Odyssey - Copyright 2003 Warner Bros. From Stanley Kubrick, the greatest director of all time.

    2) This was filmed on a tripod in Florida on an extremely clear night. I had to manually adjust the white balance or the moon looked like a huge white blob. I believe I also had the "fireworks" setting enabled because I had just shot footage of a cannon firing at night.

Glad you like it...don't be afraid to play with your settings....auto just doesn't cut it for shots like this!

  • Starwars music... lol

  • why do u compress it so much? You can just films in full HD, then edit the video, and then render it as WMV 720p or 1080p. They both look AWESOME on youtube

  • I am using an older computer with not much storage space or cpu power, I am getting a more powerful one in a week or so, I've been compressing to save space on my computer.

  • ahh ok :) Thats my problem too. My PC may not be powerful enough to edit AVCHD files... If the AVCHD file is 60 FPS, my computer shows it on my Sony Vegas like 4 fps... My processor is 2.6GHZ and i thought it would be enough

  • Somethings wrong with this picture... 2.6Ghz should be ample to process AVCHD files. I'm not familiar with PC's, (I'm a MAC person), or wit Sony Vegas, but you should be doing better than that! Try importing it into your windows movie software and see what happens..it should be compatible. I would check with a video forum too, like on sonys site.

  • Chinese are going to the moon in 2020, this guy could watch it from his backyard!

  • i swear i saw an alien it zoomed in so far i want that cam

  • i tried doing this. . . but didn't get it that close. . . did you use a telelense?

I'm getting my wide lense, telelense and filters this week! ! ! hurry up UPS!

  • When you get your camera, it is set at default zoom, go under your settings and turn on full digital zoom, then you'll get the results I had. No additional lens needed, but hey, with the lens you ordered, you'll probably see Mars up close! Good Luck!

  • awesome. . . i'm just now going back to this video. . still amazing. . i ended up finding my 150x zoom setting. . and it's insane! i was very impressed how still the shot came out. . . what tripod do you own?

  • I just have a regular tripod I used with my old cameras, nothing fancy, but has telescoping legs so it can sit on a table or on the ground, has a nice swivel and tilt arm on it. A must have for doing zoom work! Stability is everything in movies!

  • holy crap! this is amazing!!!

  • i am on my way to the store lol

  • You never cease to amaze me with your creativity!

    This is amazing!

  • WOW, 5 STARS!!

  • Holy shit, who needs a telescope, I want that!

  • My very thoughts my friend, I had no idea the camera could do this, I just tried it and was blown away! We are at an event this week with astronomers, I'm going to try and get some constellation shooting done during the dark of the moon. Should be interesting.

    This camera is amazing.

  • Also..check out "Cannons Roar", in my "more from Two eagles Kitchen", our in my video response section, in this video I set the camera to night "fireworks" and got some great footage of flames shooting out of a cannon and musket fire. I did the slow motion in imovie, but the camera has it's own slow motion feature that is stunning also.

  • Oh cool I'll check that out! Now I just wish I could afford it...

Quick question if you don't mind. When editing the video in high def, or full def does it slow your computer down? I read on another video the guys computer slows down some when he edits full def, and he had 2GB ram and 2.5ghz processor...

  • I have found it uses all my computers CPU resources. I have a 1.67ghz processor and 4GB of Ram. It doesn't use all the RAM but my CPU is running full out. Sony file formats are .MTS files. I have to convert them to AIC or Divx before I can edit them on my mac. I have a G4, which is an older laptop and not the new intel macbook so this takes alot of time too.

  • If you are on a windows machine, you can use the sony editing software and natively process your files, but to output for youtube, you still have to convert to something because MTS files are HUGE and unsuitible for the web. I use Divx, it looks the best I have seen, but outputting will take considerable time and all you computers resources until it's finished.

  • I only have 1GB ram, and 2.20ghz. I figure I'd need to invest in at least another gig of ram, but it sounds like I'd need to up my CPU as well...

I'll have to remember the Divx if I get it. I was also looking into external hard drives. If 7 hours of Full HD is about 60GB that could feel up quick if a person recorded a bunch. But for around $100 I can get a 1Tb external hard drive just for it.

Quit a bit of investing though, camcorder, external hard drive, extra ram & CPU...

  • Wow! hey, cool... =)
