Fincher not winning the Oscar an hour ago is more or less grand larsony. He is one of the most brilliant directors of all time. People WILL remember the Social Network 10 years from now. Then again, it took Scorsese multiple nominations to win. Fincher will get his Oscar one day.
@luvluv816 I have to agree. I was devastated the Social Network lost. But I was more devastated that Fincher didn't win best director. I will remember the Social Network, but The King's Speech is already starting to slip my mind.
Soft spoken, humble, and has more directing talent in one of his fingernails than most directors have in their entire body. I don't Fincher could do a bad film if he wanted to. I've admired him since his video days, his best films are The Game and Seven in my book, but everything he does is great.
David Fincer, Chris Nolan and the Coen brothers are the greatest directors working in Hollywood right now. Runners up include Scorcese, Tarantino and Spielberg, which I feel they will slowly slip into a comfort state, whereas the top three have still got huge potential and have made some of the most memorable films of the past few decades.
christopher nolan and david fincher are both brilliant directors. but david fincher is too underated, he deserves more recognition for his work. you shouldnt really compare them both, they're the best in hollywood
David Fincher is such a great filmmaker. I put him in the same leauge as Scorcese, Tarantino, Lynch, and The Coen Brothers. Seven, Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Zodiac, and i actualy think Alien 3 is hugely underrated.
@CasperGgoodwood Damn right! I would kiss him! Nay, I would lovely caress his bottucks whilst fondling his manly sack of love....and I'm not even gay! That's respect!
Like Ridley Scott, he's produced brilliance but I thought Button was a fairly technical exercise and I have little hope for a movie about Facebook beyond seeing how Fincher adapts his style to mundane subject matter. That Black Hole project sounded more interesting.
@jrt70 I've read the script. It's FAR from mundane. It's a fascinating story of jealousy, greed and betrayal. How anyone can call a story that shows how a 20 year-old kid takes a dorm room project to a $15 billion company in four years is beyond me.
@Zolofted I've read that the script is good. If it turns out to be a timeless exploration of big American themes, wealth, celebrity etc then great. All I'm saying is - Fincher seems to be at that career point where he can pick and choose, and of all his options, he picks this, and I just don't find the central story that interesting. Facebook isn't special, it just came along at the right time, tidying up the MySpace interface. Maybe there's more to it, and if so I'll eat humble pie.

This movie was so stupid.

David Finchers is indirectly referenced in the book
"220: S I F T I N G
The Alien Battle Royale
or
How we met the Spirit of Kurt Cobain"
by Fysche.
Thank you for being such a profound inspiration!!!!!!!!!
