Does anyone know where this song was meant to go on Lullabies To Paralyze? They WERE planning on putting this on the album, until it was "stolen." (ARTsNL is a thief!) This is one of my favorite songs by them, so I might just plug this one in to where it was going to be. It would be a good album closer, in my opinion. You see, you think the album's over with LSG, then the CD craps out on you with this glorious number.
@SergeantBasterd ArtsNL wasn't responsible for stealing this song, ArtsNL didn't steal this song, this song WASN'T stolen. Do you even know the story behind this song? This song wouldn't be made available if QOTSA released it as it was, and it was released as it was, if you want to hear "stolen" work, listen to the work on Toxicity II (or the pre-released songs from Steal This Album) by System of a Down. THOSE were stolen and uploaded, or so SoaD says. But you won't really ever know.
@SergeantBasterd i don't think people would get the story behind the Fun Machine Took a Shit, because it's complicated and again you don't really know if it's actually stolen or just uploaded by the band just to cause fun ruckus, and plus, I was high so I didn't really read halfway through your description before I started to get all defensive about it rofl
and besides that i guess you could say artsnl is a thief
@Schloonktapooxis Dude the tapes were just left in a different studio and the band didn't know it at first, until after Lullabies To Paralyze was released (it was planned to be on that album). THAT is the story behind The Fun Machine, Josh Homme said it himself. Just sayin
he's actually right, technically this version was re-recorded for england as a special bonus to people who bought tix to the cancelled shows. the one from era vulgaris, though released later was actually from the original tapes that they thought were stolen from the lullabies sessions.
A rough studio version of the song was placed on a series of 7" vinyl records, handed out to those who had tickets to the cancelled London shows. The song was also performed by the band on their first live DVD. A new extended studio version of the song has been recorded for a CD single to be released with pre-ordered copies of Era Vulgaris at Insound and Newbury Comics and as a bonus track for the German, Brazilian and Japanese editions of the album.
im not sure but i think i can hear Mark Lanegan's voice behind Josh's, i prefer the newer version but this is just as kick ass as any of their DS songs.
so much more trashy but still good!

if this was mixed with the finished version it would sound like the craziest QOTSA song ever
