  • Jarvis respect I dun know why

  • Great interview!!

  • the 1st dslr with HD movie is 5d mark ii. D90 is the 2nd, 1st in Nikon lineup

  • @daffyzhang 5d mark II was first to offer 1080p (Full HD), but the D90 was the first to offer HD (720p) movie mode,

  • Chase always seems so laid-back and cool would love to meet him one day

  • such a nice guy!

  • you see his videos an are like: yeah, its a cool guy with a cool team and a cool studio... but you look at him here and he's like a super star! i wasn't aware of the dimension of his persona

  • both of u guys are cool!

  • Oh man this is so awesome, i'm always watching your videos, and i'm always watching chase's videos, and now i get to see both of your crazy personalities in one video =)

  • Thank you. - Behind VFX

  • Pretty cool interview!

  • This guy is good with commercial photography. Notice in Part 2 how he turns the label of the bottle he's drinking from to directly face the camera.

About "Nikon", the original Japanese way to say it is similar to the two words, "knee"+"cone", with the first syllable stressed, and the "o" sounding like a true "o" (instead of an "a" like in American English). With an American accent, this would translate to "knee"+"con" (as in "con man").

  • Hey Gordon, i clicked on CameraLabs link, searched for Chase Jarvis, its the only video available :(

  • @jerrydo77 Did you clikc the link in the description box on this page? That should take you to a page at cameralabs with both videos and some behind the scenes information. Note the second video is hosted by vimeo, so make sure you can watch vidoes at vimeo . com first...

  • Chase Jarvis seems like a very cool down to earth and generous person, I'm sure he's quite busy yet I've seen him do many interviews with where everyone's trying to pick his brain.

  • Great interview. Nikon is pronounced Knee-cohn (similar to "cone," long o) by the way. :)

  • Great interview Gordon. I enjoyed this one. I understand not many photographers or "creative' people are as socially outreached or inclined to share as Chase. But it would be fantastic if Gordon could also make a series to interviews with some other great photographers so I may learn from even more of the pros.

  • After reading the post script about the troubles of shooting this interview, I must say you did quite an amazing job! Didn't realize it was your first! Also, thanks for the tips you shared at the very end. They'll prove very helpful when I begin to record interviews.

  • Cool video Gordon. Chase is a nice dude as most of the photographers tbh! Could you try to get Harry or Frazer Harrison? Joe Mcnally by any chance? Would be awesome

  • @bollwerkman I'd love to interview those other guys, but I'll have to wait for them to visit Queenstown, New Zealand! PS - not sure what model the Hasselblad was.

  • @cameralabs Hey Gordon will there be a part 2? Thank you!

  • @sk8b0i There has always been a part 2!!! You need to click the link by the video to go to cameralabs to see it.

  • @cameralabs Oh sorry haha. I didn't even read the description i just went to the camera labs website and searched to no avail. Thanks though i got it now! Love your vids Gordon.

  • I read the behind the scenes a while ago, and I don't remember it entirely, but I remember you said you had some equipment problems. I just wanted to say that the video still turned out great, in quality and content.

  • Don't be so ridiculous. If you bothered to read my behind the scenes report at cameralabs (see link to right of video), you'd know I was forced to use different cameras. You'd also know that I used just one audio track for the whole interview, recorded with one camera, close to Chase. Get your facts right before posting comments. Yours, the bald dude.

  • It's amazing the crazy things that some people will comment....

aye, traceuelements...focus on the interview...get the information. Learn something. Jeez.

Aye Gordon... Keep doing your thing. Great job w/ Chase on this one. Awesome interview. Don't pay any attention to the haters on here.

  • Mr Gordon, good job on the interview! Good to hear from one of the pros....Chase Jarvis is too cool! BTW, I was just sure you were an Englishman. I did not know you are in New Zealand. Very nice.....

  • I am English - I just live in NZ!

  • Great interview!! Thanks - more of those, please. =)

  • Fuck- I managed to shoot around 140ish last summer in one day in Umbria (Todi and Orvieto ), but 3500- 5000 is insane even with the burst modes.

  • Great Video Gordon - Thanks very much for doing the interview. What I get out from both of the interviews is being a elite pro photographer, just like any profession becomes more and more hard work once you get to higher levels where many people would think the opposite!

  • Great interview !! awesome from chase jarvis to accept the interview!! great stuff.

  • Wasn't suggesting that the video was bad just that i couldn't hear it on my pc which is old. Easy now. Anyway, i found out what i was looking for and nearly fainted when i heard the price!!! Thanks and keep up the great work.

  • Hey Gordon. I went to Camera labs to see the 2nd part of the Chase Jarvis interview. I sooooo wanted to know what the camera was hidden behind his beer bottle and glass but the sound was breaking up the whole way through the interview and i couldn't find out what it was.?????

  • Come on, the sound wasn't that bad! Anyway, that's the Hasselblad.

  • why does it looks so bad when it costs a fortune?

  • @cameralabs Was that the H3D?

  • lamo...look at his face when chase jarvis says : 1 to 2000 pictures...priceless

  • Gordon congratulations for your first interview!

You are really the best source on YouTube for DSLR reviews!

  • Aaaaaah...such pretty cameras *drools*

  • Interesting Interview Gordon! :D

  • Dear Gordon, i have been watching a lot of your reviews, this interview is truly amazing, thank you for doing all this! =)

  • Need more interviews like this

  • superb interview

  • Fantastic, I relly like the first part a lot :)

    - but I cant watch the 2. Part, it says that I have to pay..

  • You don't need to pay - just go to the page at cameralabs . com and click play on part 2 - it should work fine.

  • @cameralabs great part 2 vid, looking at the part right now with no problem :-)

  • woah! ive been to Queenstown at least 5 times but never realized that all that footage was the Wakatipu Lake.

  • Great interview Gordon thanks !!

  • There's over $100,000 on that table.

  • no, there is a bunch of cameras.

  • @vichiousfishes yeah, that beer on the left side is very expensive.. ;-) nah, just joking.

  • OMG You got to meet Chase Jarvis!!! He is my idol!!

  • I love how you leave the part where he talks about his gear on your website. Face it, this is what 99% of those watching the interview want to know. :D

  • Great Interview!

  • dont like the way interveiw camera is set up and the cuts to gordan and chase, but good interview

  • It's the first interview I've filmed and edited, and the cameras were also unattended, so forgive me! There's further details, along with part 2 on my page at cameralabs . com...

  • ita alright gordon aha, i watched part 2 very interesting i loved the question you, you should try to do more interviews with photographers if you can thx for the interview videos
