To all the trolls and spam merchants on this comments feed, well done for taking something beautiful and pissing and shitting all over it. Seriously. Awesome job.
I wonder which KD album he got instead? As well as Queen and Brian May etc, I am a big fan of King Diamond; there is some amazing song arrangements and guitar work on those albums with Andy La Rocque.
I remember buying this vinyl way back when. I think there were only 10,000 copies pressed. I took it home, played it once onto a cassette tape. Then put the record up and never touched it again. years later I gave it to local saint louis DJ KC Clarke so that she could share it with everyone in town. It was a great production and a unique piece of music history.
How is possible that all of You are making discussion about two bands TOTALLY DIFFERENT as Van Halen and Queen on a video where the two gitarrist of each band are Playin' Friendly Togheter? GET A LIFE.
tonyblews... and who the fuck are you exactly??? no need say summot like that mate so keep your trap shut. i have nothing against Van Halen, i like Van Halen, i like ALOT of rock bands, i'm a rock fan... but as far as sayin there better... why??/ cos there not. Queen are better than van halen in ways, and van halen are better than queen in ways... same way bon jovi are better in ways, and queen are better than bon jovi in ways... appreciate the music each band creates, end of story.
I'm not inlove with Brian May if that's what you thought...I love him as a friend,I love his soul and his gift that he shares with the world, his music. I'm not fat,i'm not a man, i'm a very good person and i've been through so much shit.I'm not 'pretending to be young and praying on the innocent',I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Why are you being rude to me? What did I do or say that made you upset with me? I don't give a flying f*ck how old he is-he's 63 years old and that's still pretty young. Being 63 is just starting to get older.I don't care what people say,I do love Brian,he's a beautiful human being and he's a wonderful man. He's a true gentleman.......
Brian a poser? Who said that? Brian May is hardly a shredder, but has so unique a technique that puts hime close to being a virtuoso. This is a nice proof of his skills, both as player and composer. Quite colourful, mixing up lots of things, from classic hard rock riffs -courtesy of V. Halen, whom we really appreciate curbing his fancy style alittle in here- to the trademark proggresive rock structures, with some keyboard work a la Camel as well.
I can't belive all the shit posted on here for this song. Brian only did it for his little boy. And so many wankers (in the US than means assholes) post shit about it. Get a fucking life you twats! (in the US that means assholes).

@dorkandproudofit I actually think he's done way better solo's than that, the Live Killers Brighton Rock solo pure blows the two u mentioned out of the water, some of the solo's in the Q+PR album were amazing, not to mention some of his Guitar Orchestrations, a mean, and entire Jazz band out of an electric guitar, the most Eddie achieved was an organ sounding guitar solo.
Really who cares. Van Halen DETSORYED QUEEN!!! what the fuck are you talking about, how many album sales ticket sales, singles sales, and attendance records does van halen hold.....not fucking nearly as many queen, obviously since queen hold them. van halen are a a great band, i love van halen, and i love queen, i love skid row, i love deep purple. but van halen no way in hell "DETSTROYED" queen. Queen is the most powerful piece on the board.
Uh....EVH has influenced more people to play guitar than Brian May. However, why is this even being discussed? EVH and Brian May are great friends, and this "who's band was better/ which guitarist is better" argument is one that can't be won.
actually in the UK queen is the biggest selling act, worldwide they are not. they have the number one selling album in england and number 3 album. i remember when this came out, thought ok but expected more with may and van halen. Saw Queen in 1982, and others in 80s-van halen, zz top, stones, who, u2(have the white flag), judas priest, ozzy with rhodes, aerosmith, iron maiden, deep purple, scorpions w/iron maiden as opener, and many many others. live Queen outdid them all-fantastic show
since i have seen both van halen & Queen in 80's & not too far apart, i can honestly say Queen smoked van halen. I like van halen, but wow Queen rocked live, put on show like no one else did. even now i can still say best concert ever attended. in 80's saw Police in 82, David Bowie, Stevie Ray V., Yes, Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper in 80, Ted Nugent, Clapton, Rush, Buddy Guy, Pink Floyd (in arena, not stadium), 90's saw Pearl Jam Ten tour, Marilyn Manson, NIN, can go on but Queen smoked them all
no they didnt. eddie van halen and alex van halen and david lee roth DESTROYED QUEEN! NO ONE PAST OR PRESENT IN THOES DAYS COULD TOUCH VAN HALEN NO ONE!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
maybe you need to do your home work and see what van halen the band is known for. you see my little friend Alex van halen is also consider to be in the top 3 best drumers roger taylor is not and david lee roth has been called many times the greatest showman/frontman in rock. so i dont know were the hell you get your info from but i can tell ya its total BULLSHIT!
Queen has not out sold the beatles or elvis or the stones dude your not talking to some 16 year old kid here i'm guitarist/musician for 36 years thats why now at 47 i dont have to work.
check your numbers again, and look at international stats, not American ones. As for May teaching Eddie or not, it is an unavoidable fact that Brian May and Jimmy Page both practiced finger tapping long before Van Halen, and that is the ONLY thing Eddie is known for.
dude i dont give a shit about album sales were not talking album sales the bottom line is edward van halen is considerd the greatest of alltime brian may and page are not PERIOD!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
dude now i know your a fucking retard NOW go away. van halen 1978 and van halen II 1979 THOES ARE ALBUMS FROM THE 70'S RETARD. 32 YEARS OLD AND A STUPID FUCK I GUESS YOUR PARENTS ARE PROUD OF YOU. SEE DOUCHEBAG!
van halen 1978-20 million sold - van halen II 1979 15 million sold the two sold more in the last 2 years of the 70's than most bands sold from 1970 to 1979 boy you are with out any doubt an idiot. you were still shitting green in 1978
van halen's 1978 and 1979 groundbreaking album's are conciderd by millions and guitar world and guitar player international to be the the greatest guitar albums of alltime along with jimi hendrix's axis bold of love and electric ladyland. any more questions?
queen is not the the #1 selling band its the1. beatles 2. elvis 3. the rolling stones
these are the top 3.
also eddie van halen been playing guitar for 44 years long befor he even knew brian may was alive. may did not teach edward van halen anything it would be the other way around my friend.
@stratdem dude, -chill. Halen was innovative and could shred but had adolescent taste and artistic ability. Once that 14 year old mental patient Roth left, (gay BTW) they were a bit more mature but way more boring, and far from innovative.
Queen is one of the most mature and sophisticated bands ever (in rock)
Besides Hendrix blew them both away, He was artistic and soulful, 2 things Eddie was bankrupt in.
There is a lot more to being a great guitar player than just "dude, he shreds."
@ihatespam2 Chill? VH had adolescent taste and ability? Yet he shreds? How do you have adolescent ability but still shred? VH wasn't innovative? What planet are you from? I won't knock Hendrix because he was great...but to smear EVH's playing is shear ignorance. Fine...you don't like him but he almost single-handedly changed the way people play guitar. Hendrix didn't do that. You're right...there is so much more to playing guitar....and obviously more than you can comprehend.
dicklodged - I said artistic ability not fast hands and technique. You should study reading comprehension before you mouth off like a whiney little Eddie groupy and start telling other people what is wrong with them. You say Hendrix did not change the way people play guitar! Every poll of famous guitarist always shows Hendrix had the greatest influence on guitar players and was the most innovative.
Buy your self a Mahavishnu album and go to school and get that dicklodged out of your mouth.
@ihatespam2 Wow, you must be some angry old SOB. I certainly don't need a poll to know how much Hendrix influenced guitarists. And I'm certainly no VH groupie. I honestly don't like the guy. Maybe you should understand music and actually try playing guitar before you " mouth off" like you are some kind of authority on the matter. Shut up and play something...anything is fine. Oh no, you resort to sophomoric antics when you disagree. Whatever.
@DickLodge68 Dude What the hell are you talking about? You are the one who said Hendrix didn't change the way people play guitar. You are the one mouthing off about how I can't comprehend like you're some condescending dbag.
My whole point was misunderstood by you. I was refering to VF's artistry, which is weak. Then you butt in start insulting me? Look in the mirror.
And BTW you have no clue regarding my understanding of art, music or my ability.
@ihatespam2 I didn't miss your point. You think EVH has no soul in his playing. I totally disagree. I don't think Hendrix comes close to Eddie when it comes to influencing guitarists. But it's really apples and oranges isn't it? Think about how many players use hammer-ons and pull-offs and tapping. As for your knowledge and ability, it seems like you read it in a book. I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years now....and I doubt you've even tried but your comments.
@DickLodge U say that now, but every comment you made shows you did miss my point and still do.
U don't think Hendrix came close to Eddie? Dude, for someone playing 30 years, U should know Steve Hackett, John McLaughlin, Jeff Beck, Jimi etc, all used hammer ons and pulloffs. Eddie did not invent that. U say my knowledge and ability sounds to U like it came from a book? Maybe U need to read a book or two. And yes, we are really impressed you have played for 30 years ( & yet still don't get it?)
@ihatespam2 No, I don't think so...Hendrix and VH are apples and oranges. I never said he "invented" hammer-on's and pull-offs. Hell, you can go all the way back to Robert Johnson for that. But VH certainly made two-handed tapping popular. I didn't miss your point...I simply disagree with you. That doesn't make me right and you wrong, it's just an opinion. 30 years of playing gives me some knowledge on the subject. How you back-up your claims is still unknown.
34 years of playing, 2 BA's, 4 albums, 100's of gigs etc. that proves?
Making tapping popular still has nothing to do with my point, you are still missing it.
That is a technique. Titian may have invented impasto, Monet turned it into a art form, that says nothing of their artistry, only of their craft. Artistry is not judged by mastery of technique but of expression. The ability to communicate ones ideas and feelings over a wide pallette of areas. Jimmy Page is a far superior artist to VH
@DickLodge68 it is not apples and oranges. We can prove VH plays faster than Page. That shows his superiority in that aspect in terms of craft. We can show thru Pages writing, recording and live shows, his ability to communicate a variety of various moods etcs is supperior to VH.
YOU may LIKE one over the other but that does not change the facts.
@ihatespam2 If Page is far superior to EVH then it is apples and oranges. If you compare "artistry", whether it be composition (Page) or by impulse (Eddie), then that's unequal palates.....apples and oranges. If you simply dislike VH or Satch, or Vai...just say so! That doesn't make Page or Hendrix more "artistic". Why don't you post a video of your ability? I just had some free webcam that was a piece of crap. Me thinks you just read a book and then you are an authority. Just my thought.
@DickLodge Why do you think my ability will defend my comments about how this is more than ability? You still don't get it. We are talking about the whole packag not one aspect, like who plays faster.
I have been telling you all along who I like is irrelevant, if you were schooled in critique you would get that.
But after your "Me Thinks" pretentiousness and refusal to aknowledge my points, ME THINKS this conversation is pointless. peace
@ihatespam2 Talk about pretentious! I don't "critique"....... I play. You're like an anal-ist judging a golfer's swing, when you never hit a goof-ball in your life. As for the total "package" Satriani has it...he can play anything with style and emotion. You are right though...you are schooled in artistry and critiquing how some small child smeared crap on a wall that some consider "art". I'm telling you that experience trumps textbooks any day. I didn't miss your point, you've missed mine.
@DickLodge68 Look dude, you are so ignorant you really should be ashamed.
In one sentence you say you can determine if I am a "player" or not in the next you put down people who critque art, you are a hypocrite and a idiot to boot.
I realize that people like you get insulted by iintelligence and feel condescended when people speak about things that are over your head, but your are best off just shutting up as you obviously have a chip on your shoulder. whatever
@ihatespam2 I am so hurt and offended! Haha! But you are right. This conversation is over. You haven't shown me anything to believe you even know what you are talking about! I must have touched a nerve because you resorted to childish insults. I know when that happens then you have nothing to debate. Every post, I offered some thoughts, reason, and sense...which you simply dismissed with some air of superiority. You have a lot to learn and I doubt you can by now. Go ahead have the last word.
Well first off, Brian arranged and played this piece, second, Brian has much more famous and complex songs than Van Halen does. Both great guitar players, but Brian far more so. Brian and Jimmy Page invented finger tapping and a large amount of guitar techniques. They are the original gods of guitar.
Guitar World and Guitar Player International haild eddie van halen and jimi hendrix the two most influental guitarist of alltime. NO FUCKING MENTION OF BRIAN MAY OR JIMMY PAGE. hers another for ya assmunch Edward van halen best guitarist and most valuble player from 1978 to 1998 no guitarist is even close to that run doucheboy know what your talking about next time befor you open your mouth.
That just proves how hysterically ignorant you are if you think that Van Halen was more influential than Queen or Led Zeppelin. Let me guess, all you know of music has come from Guitar Hero?
As for famous songs... yeah, more people know Brian's songs than anything from Eddie. We Will Rock You alone beats out anything he's got, but there's also all the other songs he contributed to and wrote, Fat Bottom Girls, Bohemian Rhapsody, and according to international polls, Brian is the second best.
Guitar World and Guitar Player International have edward van halen and jimi hendrix the two most influental guitarist of alltime End of story me and millions of other must agree to and i do. edward van halen would shit all over may and page combined thats just plain simple facts not some empty fucking opinion. i'm done with this issue have a nice day.

And even so its pretty hardcore of both of them to make their own guitars and do what they did.
And your right brownsound. The "who is bestest" argument usually amounts to personal opinion.

actually in the UK queen is the biggest selling act, worldwide they are not. they have the number one selling album in england and number 3 album. i remember when this came out, thought ok but expected more with may and van halen. Saw Queen in 1982, and others in 80s-van halen, zz top, stones, who, u2(have the white flag), judas priest, ozzy with rhodes, aerosmith, iron maiden, deep purple, scorpions w/iron maiden as opener, and many many others. live Queen outdid them all-fantastic show
thelastnic 2 years ago 3
since i have seen both van halen & Queen in 80's & not too far apart, i can honestly say Queen smoked van halen.

NO ONE PAST OR PRESENT IN THOES DAYS COULD TOUCH VAN HALEN NO ONE!

maybe you need to do your home work and see what van halen the band is known for. you see my little friend Alex van halen is also consider to be in the top 3 best drumers roger taylor is not and david lee roth has been called many times the greatest showman/frontman in rock. so i dont know were the hell you get your info from but i can tell ya its total BULLSHIT!

Queen has not out sold the beatles or elvis or the stones dude your not talking to some 16 year old kid here i'm guitarist/musician for 36 years thats why now at 47 i dont have to work.

eddie van halen is also the only guitarist in history to hold best guitarist and most valuble player in three differnt decades.
1978 to 1998.
stratdem 2 years ago
check your numbers again, and look at international stats, not American ones.

Van halen = one of the top selling bands of alltime.
Van halen = rock n roll hall of famers
Edward Van halen = greatest of alltime!
stratdem 2 years ago
Oh you want to bring FACTS into this?
Queen = THE top selling band of all time, beat Elvis AND the Beatles
Queen = spent more time on the top of the charts than any other band in history
Queen = rock and roll hall of famers
Brian May = A musical genius, a scientist, and a doctor, and was also good friends with Mr. Van Halen. May probably also taught him how to finger tap.
SignusMelko 2 years ago 2
queen is not the the #1 selling band its the1. beatles 2. elvis 3. the rolling stones
these are the top 3.
also eddie van halen been playing guitar for 44 years long befor he even knew brian may was alive. may did not teach edward van halen anything it would be the other way around my friend.
stratdem 2 years ago
@stratdem dude, -chill. Halen was innovative and could shred but had adolescent taste and artistic ability. Once that 14 year old mental patient Roth left, (gay BTW) they were a bit more mature but way more boring, and far from innovative.
Queen is one of the most mature and sophisticated bands ever (in rock)
Besides Hendrix blew them both away, He was artistic and soulful, 2 things Eddie was bankrupt in.
There is a lot more to being a great guitar player than just "dude, he shreds."
ihatespam2 11 months ago
@ihatespam2 Chill? VH had adolescent taste and ability? Yet he shreds? How do you have adolescent ability but still shred? VH wasn't innovative? What planet are you from? I won't knock Hendrix because he was great...but to smear EVH's playing is shear ignorance. Fine...you don't like him but he almost single-handedly changed the way people play guitar. Hendrix didn't do that. You're right...there is so much more to playing guitar....and obviously more than you can comprehend.
DickLodge68 11 months ago
dicklodged - I said artistic ability not fast hands and technique. You should study reading comprehension before you mouth off like a whiney little Eddie groupy and start telling other people what is wrong with them. You say Hendrix did not change the way people play guitar! Every poll of famous guitarist always shows Hendrix had the greatest influence on guitar players and was the most innovative.
Buy your self a Mahavishnu album and go to school and get that dicklodged out of your mouth.
ihatespam2 11 months ago
@ihatespam2 Wow, you must be some angry old SOB. I certainly don't need a poll to know how much Hendrix influenced guitarists. And I'm certainly no VH groupie. I honestly don't like the guy. Maybe you should understand music and actually try playing guitar before you " mouth off" like you are some kind of authority on the matter. Shut up and play something...anything is fine. Oh no, you resort to sophomoric antics when you disagree. Whatever.
DickLodge68 11 months ago
@DickLodge68 Dude What the hell are you talking about? You are the one who said Hendrix didn't change the way people play guitar. You are the one mouthing off about how I can't comprehend like you're some condescending dbag.
My whole point was misunderstood by you. I was refering to VF's artistry, which is weak. Then you butt in start insulting me? Look in the mirror.
And BTW you have no clue regarding my understanding of art, music or my ability.
ihatespam2 11 months ago
@ihatespam2 I didn't miss your point. You think EVH has no soul in his playing. I totally disagree. I don't think Hendrix comes close to Eddie when it comes to influencing guitarists. But it's really apples and oranges isn't it? Think about how many players use hammer-ons and pull-offs and tapping. As for your knowledge and ability, it seems like you read it in a book. I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years now....and I doubt you've even tried but your comments.
DickLodge68 11 months ago
@DickLodge U say that now, but every comment you made shows you did miss my point and still do.
U don't think Hendrix came close to Eddie? Dude, for someone playing 30 years, U should know Steve Hackett, John McLaughlin, Jeff Beck, Jimi etc, all used hammer ons and pulloffs. Eddie did not invent that. U say my knowledge and ability sounds to U like it came from a book? Maybe U need to read a book or two. And yes, we are really impressed you have played for 30 years ( & yet still don't get it?)
ihatespam2 11 months ago

Jimmy Page is a far superior artist to VH
ihatespam2 11 months ago
@DickLodge68 it is not apples and oranges. We can prove VH plays faster than Page. That shows his superiority in that aspect in terms of craft. We can show thru Pages writing, recording and live shows, his ability to communicate a variety of various moods etcs is supperior to VH.
YOU may LIKE one over the other but that does not change the facts.
ihatespam2 11 months ago
@ihatespam2 If Page is far superior to EVH then it is apples and oranges. If you compare "artistry", whether it be composition (Page) or by impulse (Eddie), then that's unequal palates.....apples and oranges. If you simply dislike VH or Satch, or Vai...just say so! That doesn't make Page or Hendrix more "artistic". Why don't you post a video of your ability? I just had some free webcam that was a piece of crap. Me thinks you just read a book and then you are an authority. Just my thought.
DickLodge68 11 months ago
@DickLodge Why do you think my ability will defend my comments about how this is more than ability? You still don't get it. We are talking about the whole packag not one aspect, like who plays faster.
I have been telling you all along who I like is irrelevant, if you were schooled in critique you would get that.
But after your "Me Thinks" pretentiousness and refusal to aknowledge my points, ME THINKS this conversation is pointless. peace
ihatespam2 11 months ago
@ihatespam2 Talk about pretentious! I don't "critique"....... I play. You're like an anal-ist judging a golfer's swing, when you never hit a goof-ball in your life. As for the total "package" Satriani has it...he can play anything with style and emotion. You are right though...you are schooled in artistry and critiquing how some small child smeared crap on a wall that some consider "art". I'm telling you that experience trumps textbooks any day. I didn't miss your point, you've missed mine.
DickLodge68 11 months ago
@DickLodge68 Look dude, you are so ignorant you really should be ashamed.
In one sentence you say you can determine if I am a "player" or not in the next you put down people who critque art, you are a hypocrite and a idiot to boot.
I realize that people like you get insulted by iintelligence and feel condescended when people speak about things that are over your head, but your are best off just shutting up as you obviously have a chip on your shoulder. whatever
ihatespam2 11 months ago

SignusMelko 2 years ago
much more famouse? NOT EVEN CLOSE ASSWIPE.
EDDIE TARE'S MAY A NEW ASS'
Guitar World and Guitar Player International haild eddie van halen and jimi hendrix the two most influental guitarist of alltime. NO FUCKING MENTION OF BRIAN MAY OR JIMMY PAGE. hers another for ya assmunch Edward van halen best guitarist and most valuble player from 1978 to 1998 no guitarist is even close to that run doucheboy know what your talking about next time befor you open your mouth.
stratdem 2 years ago
That just proves how hysterically ignorant you are if you think that Van Halen was more influential than Queen or Led Zeppelin. Let me guess, all you know of music has come from Guitar Hero?
As for famous songs... yeah, more people know Brian's songs than anything from Eddie. We Will Rock You alone beats out anything he's got, but there's also all the other songs he contributed to and wrote, Fat Bottom Girls, Bohemian Rhapsody, and according to international polls, Brian is the second best.
SignusMelko 2 years ago
facts are facts weather you like it or not.
