i don't get the discussion about prophetic vs. scripture... a LOT of the words in this spontaneous song are straight out of scripture, and i didn't hear anything heretical.

Well, when I accepted Christ my soul was saved but it has to be worked out in my flesh and we all have to grow just like children. I know the young man singing heart is in the right place, but he is speaking prophetically and mixing covenants. God would never tell you he is making you Holy under the new covenant. As heirs in Christ he has ALREADY made you holy and blameless. See Col 1: 20-25. Blessing do not flow down from heaven because of your sacrifice, they are already bestowed on you the minute you made Jesus your Lord and Savior.

In the OT, it gave instructions on how many singers and musicians are to be at the temple. But it doesn't say "to jam out," like we might think. It says "so they may prophesy."

perhaps. instead of arguing about what the Spirit of the Lord is doing in the heart of another person... we should seek out the Spirit. Just a thought.
@DiJohnny18 The Sprit of Prophecy is the testimony of Christ. What prophets can easily do is pick up on the emotions, circumstances and soul of the congregation. When they can sense a particular spirit, prophets can then bring exhortation, correction and love. Matt is freestyling as he sees the position that the church is in. EVERYTHING must be evaluated in the light of Scripture, you can't just be around defining things like facts or truths. Apparently what was spoken by the hundreds of Prophets whose names we don't even know is not on the same level as the eternal word of God embodied in Holy writ spoken through the mouths of the ones we Do know like Isaiah Jeremiah, Ezekiel etc..

Having a nice voice has nothing to do with anointing... its your desire to serve God. One can have a dreadfully awful singing voice, yet have a powerful anointing. Ive seen it.
He has both a good voice and strong anointing, which is rare.
@emnity33 Not at Ihop. They are several people with a huge anointing and great voice. I've seen it elsewhere too. It's not true because I've also known of several people who sucked really bad but because of anointing got a lot better in a short amount of time. You assume wrong. I don't confuse good voice with anointing however. I am well aware of what anointing is. God bless.

@MessiahYeshuah Hello. You can observe by reading the whole chapter that Peter quoted Joel to explain what happened in that unique moment: the birth of the Church by the pouring of the Holy Spirit. Joel 2:28-32 refers to the period of the Tribulation, not to our days. The Prophecy and the Canon are closed. Through the Scriptures God has given us a body of teaching that is final and complete.

That rules out all inspired prophecies, seers, and other forms of new revelation until God speaks again at the return of Christ. Ultimately, Scripture is the test of everything, it is the Christian's standard. The canon of Scripture is the measuring rod of the Christian faith, and it is complete.

@MessiahYeshuah Hello again. Sad? I dont think so. God speaks to His people through His Word. The Bible was written by God to reveal Himself. It is the only authoritative and absolutely reliable record of man's origin, dilemma, salvation, and destiny. It serves as man's only moral and spiritual standard. God inspired every word of the original manuscripts, and they were without error in every detail. The Bible is the only completely trustworthy source of knowledge about God

@mercenaryzorek Yes, He does speak through the Bible, but He also speaks to His people at a personal level, through the Holy Spirit and other people, as well as other amazing confirmations, even through His creation! Again, I feel sorry for you, because you seem to think that GOD is SOLELY confined to the pages of the written word.

@MessiahYeshuah I agree with you, Creation speaks of His eternal power, majesty and godhead. Back to How God speaks, why do some believers still look beyond the Bible for a special, personal word from the Lord? They simply don’t believe the Bible gives enough answers for the problems and struggles in their lives, or they don’t grasp the degree to which Scripture is living and active, that it is God speaking to us clearly and distinctly.

@MessiahYeshuah If you reject the sufficiency of Scripture or even if you simply look to supplement it with fresh, personal revelation from God, you cut yourself off from the only reliable source of God’s truth. The Bible isn’t a book of static, lifeless words. It’s alive and active in the hearts of God’s people. It’s the vessel through which the Lord performs His transforming work, sanctifying and shaping us into His likeness.

That depends on whether or not you believe that that in order for something to supplement something else it must be of equal weight. There is a prophets office in the church, it is laid out in the epistles along with the rest of Paul's instruction to the church. Far more dangerous than the act that you describe is choosing what out of the word one will except and what you won't except.

That different words of God can have different weight is made apparent by the fact that there were literally hundreds of prophets and yet only 66 books of prophetic writing.
Apparently what was spoken by the hundreds of Prophets whose names we don't even know is not on the same level as the eternal word of God embodied in Holy writ spoken through the mouths of the ones we Do know like Isaiah Jeremiah, Ezekiel etc..

There are sometimes people which make everything "prophetic". Spontaneus doesn't mean prophetic. Maybe this guy have something of prophetic, but there's the whole bunch of singers which just "howl" a little and there's at once...... WOOOW HE"S A PROPHET... are you kidding me?

Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom!!! and rest and peace and forgiveness and love It is not about rules and our inability to follow Him and be perfect--we cannot. It is about a willingness to follow and obey and release our sins and unforgivenss so He can flood His Spirit into us and take our pain and angst, and frustrations. Thank you Jesus! We praise you for giving us access to this process--a cleansing and renewal of our bodies and spririts. Making them a Holy temple for you God

Having a nice voice has nothing to do with anointing... its your desire to serve God. One can have a dreadfully awful singing voice, yet have a powerful anointing. Ive seen it.
He has both a good voice and strong anointing, which is rare.

@emnity33 Not at Ihop. They are several people with a huge anointing and great voice. I've seen it elsewhere too. It's not true because I've also known of several people who sucked really bad but because of anointing got a lot better in a short amount of time. You assume wrong. I don't confuse good voice with anointing however. I am well aware of what anointing is. God bless.

@skateriand2 Oh I see. Well I'm just coming from the stand point of someone who has seen alot of things. Ive seen many churches, and have been to many different congregations and worship services. All to often do I see people performing for the audience, rather than worshiping God.
