Hi Allen, this is very nice, and you´re talking a lot of your thumb. I think I can hear when your thumb is free from thinking (yes, thumbs can think;-)) and when you´re concentrated on the melody/chord work. There´s a slight difference in the feel of the thumb.
I like this video, Allen. All in all it´s what the tune needs, a good groove. And that´s the message of the tune. Well done!
Hi Allen ,thats a beautiful tune my friend,I enjoy this very much,by the way ,the guitar is also beautiful with those flowers on the headstock, wel done ,keep on playing Allen, greets Kees.
Allen--I hear guitar played like this and it inspires//////the ability to add the "lovely" notes...this is really lovely--true swing....super version! ...this was the feel good stuff in my youth....top forty made sure we knew the songs!!lol...
finally I find time to comment your wonderful version of this great Morrison tune. I'm a big fan of Van :-)) and this piece is among my favourites of him. You have a nice guitar over there, sounds really great under your fingers! I love how you let the bass walk beside the chords and melody - great arranging.
Hey, Allen! I can understand that you feel you're not where you want to be with that fingerstyle-stuff. But, yeah, the groove is allready there, and those little extras coming from the thumb give it a terrible swing. Keep working, and, most of all: keep posting!!!
@carvetop01 I'm fine, a lot to do (for my job, alas). But going to play live with a pianist on Wednesday and with my group FlagstaffJazz on saturday. So, there's a lot work before me... ;-)
@carvetop01 Not bad thanks, Allen. Pretty busy with the funny little band lately. - 5 gigs in this last week. - We supported Cream/Jack Bruce lyricist Pete Brown and his band on Thurs in a pub in Camden - great gig!! - they were amazing... meanwhile, I try to continue at my own leisurely pace with the learning process. - or is it the remembering process? :-)
This is bit different for you Allen. Its a great job none the less. Excellent rhythm here, Its nice to hear you pull away from the free time feel you have proven to be a master of. This is however, just as expressive, and the hint of walking bass takes it to a new level..well played!
Thank you! Finger style is new to me. I have watched several of your videos. I like you sense of harmony and I am looking for tips to get a good timbre from my right hand.
There's no reason for you to apologize for your finger style playing Allen. Keep building your finger style repertoire. You are one of the best out there, especially the way you harmonize your arrangements. Not being kind... it's a fact.
Very nice arrangement of this timeless good piece, indeed like Pat said I love the bass movement in this piece which really gives it forward motion, the melody stands out it looks easy but I think it isn't, very good work Allen a nice piece for your fingerstyle repertoire,Vic.
@carvetop01 Hi Allen,it's like Lance says, very long you've probably played with a pick, you're fingers simply have to adjust through training for quite a while, just keep doing it an hour a day and you'll be astonished about the results, in a while you'll be playing with fingers just as good as with pick, as switch effortlessly between them, give it a chance,Vic.
Tab please!
