  • what are they going to do now? plant it back in the ground -____-

  • fucking idiots

  • All of those enviromentalists are idiots and deserve to be shot or put to deth in another painfull way. I say this because i have no time for people like that.

  • As the driver on that loco would say BIG SWINGING TITS!!!!

  • They should have sent the train round for a next fill a bury the the bastards in coal.

  • The thing I find funny about this is the fact the protesters were to thick to open the bottom of the wagons to release the coal, idiots + what were they trying to achive?the River Aire flows underneath this bridge if any coal got in there it could have a serious impact on the wildlife. NOOBS GET A F*****G LIFE!!!!!!!

  • i will warn you protesters if you stop me and i find you have no authority i will recomence by journey!if it leaves you swinging off bridges or in the wagons that's your bad luck!

the chap you stopped had already had one idiot run beneath him and killed himself,do you think this driver needs this crap?

  • facts time

drax per meggawatt is the cleanes in the world.

it's not just burning fossil fuels that's the problem, just think how much mass we've removed from the planet, this is our biggest danger as altering the mass will affect the moons distance from earth and tides ect will be altered!and when our illustrious leaders accept this and start too plant more trees too regain some of the mass before it's too late our future will be more certain!

  • drax gets 2 of those trains an hour and it'll keep coming so you going to be shovelling a long time my dad works at drax and he gets blaverd with coal dust and the only skin you can see is on his eyelids if this place closes thousands of people shall loose their jobs

  • i absoluetly HATE Greenpeace they cause nothing but nation wide disruptions whather it be power plants or airports they are a rash of this countrys skin!!!!

  • so do i there nothing but tree huging arseholes

  • i ahrdly see how shoveling a tiny amount of coal out of a couple of wagons is going to help, theres gotta be loads more wagons full of coal.

And , hmm, dumping a load of coal over a river, wouldnt that harm the ecosystem in the river, what a bunch of fecking idiots.

  • GET OFF MY TRAIN YOU F***ING PRATS I like coal trains

  • With those shovelling skills you might even be able to get a proper job :)

  • All of you who took part in that Pathetic Demonstration are a thick headed Bastards

  • a singer called ivor biggun wrote the perfect song for these sheep, wankers of the world unite!baahhh locks to them, get yer facts right!

  • bet thats the most work any of u fools have dun u all need hobbys or even JOBS !

  • A set of wankers & cunts. Enough said I think.

  • A fine description of most of the people posting comments below, including your fine self.

  • Why don't you over to China why they are opening new coal fired power stations every week, see if they will allow you to stop a train and shovel the coal out....

  • What a complete bunch of do gooding morons these wankers are. Havent they got anything better to do?

  • yer i you whernt there i mean i care about the planet to but stoppin this train is just a waste of oil and dumpimg the coal is more of a waste

  • and

"Section 35 Malicious Damage Act 1861: penalises the placing of wood, etc, on a railway, taking up rails, turning points, or showing or hiding signals, and requires evidence of an intent to obstruct, upset, overthrow, injure or destroy any engine, tender, carriage or truck. Indictable only; punishable with life imprisonment."

  • calvinjones is one of them!!

  • One of whom? people who give a damn. Yup.

    Protestors on the event, no.

  • calvinjones shut up drax as said before is the freidiest in europe andthey are looking at new ways to make it even better

  • terrorists. plain & simple. put them in guantanamo.

  • Apart from the lack of terror, or even intimidation, or endangerment. Apart from all that i think that you might be onto something.

Or are you talking about Drax? They are terrorising future generations by destroying there planet...and climate change is leading to hundereds of thousands of deaths. Perhaps being the klarges source of co2 in the UK qaulifies Drax as a terrorist installation?

  • oh shut up... i'm sick of you pathetic enviromental protesters you think everything can be done at the click of a finger, the same with the didcot power plant protests what the fuck? they had already announced it's going to be shutting down within the next 6 years it takes a while you know?

you seem to forget no matter what man has done nature has already done it, the only reason people like you do this is because your afraid or want to show off which i know a few people do it for...

  • Stopping a train by simulating a railway emergency (red flags) then creating one by pouring coal onto the track.. whilst two miles away they have a stockpile of coal to last a month... great work guys! And here was I thinking that rail was green!!

  • The absolute F**king clowns. What the hell is all of this about.

  • lol shovelling coal out the wagons!!! They'll be there for weeks!

  • Idiots, this is not ideal way to demonstrate. They should register to mental home. Idiots :)

  • A stupid, dangerous and totally illegal act by a bunch of idiots who should get a job and work like the rest of us. They don't seem to realise that it won't achieve anything other than creating resentment towards themselves. Police should've water-cannoned them. I wonder what they'd have had to say if somebody held up their train when they were late for a tree-hugging meeting? I'd like to think they'd get punished properly for it but I doubt that'll happen

  • I like the way these idiots ties rope to a 1000 tonne + train. i think the train should have carried on to drax and lowered its coal along with the protestors into the coal bunkers, to get pulverised and fed into a boiler, what a great way to beat climate change!!

  • What stupid IDIOTS! don't they relise when it rans that Coal will pollute the river? Thank god they did not know how the HTA doors work, Oh year they SHOULD get life imprisionment from the 1861 act for railways.

  • A poor stunt.

  • Omg some of you guys will get hurt.

  • I know, then HSE will complain about it when the fact is they should not of been there in the bloody first place.

  • IDIOTS

  • Really? Most climate activists that I know are in good jobs or doing graduate degrees. But thats besides the point, there isnt a more important job to excercise society at this time than stoping run away climate change.

  • for somebody so clever yours gramars crap mate, does not inspire much confidence with the rest of your knowledge!

  • This is surely not the way to go about things. Drax being a relatively eco-friendly business just compounds it.

This is an illegal, stupid act that proves nothing and if anything leaves the protestors with a negative image. Will they never learn?

  • Drax emmits more carbon than most countries.

Drax is the largest carbon emitter in the UK.

Drax wastes more than half its energy output as heat.

Drax produces twice the emissions of an eqivalent centralised natural gas plant.

Drax produces the co2 of many millions of cars.

Drax is not relatively eco-friendly, that is absurd!

Illigal, yes, stupid, no. I know people who work at DEFRA and the climate camp along with other anti-coal protests are chaning the conversation.

  • as an ex power staion worker now train driver mate get your facts right!per megawatt output it's the cleanest.

we have little natural gas left, for somebody who professes to know so much you know very little true facts!have you forgotten the threat of terorists blowing up gas supply lines?you have no authority too stop me so nothing to stop me driving forward as most of us feel like doing.

that drivers shift was extended too dangerous levels making him unsafe to continue thanks to you idiots!

  • jesus thats serious the bit about the shift time

isn't the maximum limit per a shift 12 hours?

  • yes but on a sat afternoon nobody available too relieve him as they need twelve hours notice!

  • flipping heck

  • It aint perfect but it's more than you are doing! What are you doing to solve the climate crisis? Or can't you be bothered to try?

  • i do my bit by not buying foriegn stuff and keeping my old cars going as long as possible with used parts!also i dont subscribe to brainwashing by salespeople saying i must have new everything all the time ok?so yes i do my bit!

  • If the Government, and it's laws, aren't helping anyone then boycott it!

It's called Anarchy and does not involve violence!

Infact non-violence is the secret that lets the protest crawl its way around the bad guys and completely take away their freedom.

Society learns to shun them and the baddies so change for their own survivals sake: it's poetry and it works!

  • This action was non violent. The camp from climate action that was in some way invovled is specifically an anarchist organisation.

  • Surley this action is violent to anybody who uses the railway? Johnny Rotten could have done better even in his most drug fuelled daydreams!!

  • I`m not sure if we are using the same deffinition of violent. To me violent means physical and most likely dangerous force towards people.

In this case no one was injured, care was taken to find a safe way to stop the train. Apparently a red flag and dayglow jakets where used--this is how trains are stopped if needs be. They also contacted the signalers as soon as the action started.

This train line is specifically for Drax. So its not even inconvenient for train commuters.

  • Well done, calvinjones, as non-violence is the key.

It allows the message to creep into most of our hearts and allows more people to find worth in it.

If it was violent then people would have trouble helping you.

It is a numbers game and non-violence helps it win the battle!

    It is, infact, the key.

  • Bloody protestors. Do they even think how much oil they are using keeping that train still. I bet now TOCs will get in trouble for late running trains and its this stupid protest group holding them up. Also they are shovelling coal on to the line, this could leaves obseticles that could damage a train and will waste even more coal. I bet they wouln't even get in trouble for it aswell. If the brakes come off on the 66 they would be dead aswell especcialy under neath the HTA wagons.

  • " Do they even think how much oil they are using keeping that train still"

oldest line in the book, stop being such a cynic and do something positive like these people are!

  • Still can't see whats positive here.

    Trespassing on the line

    Stopping a train

    Climbing on board

    Throwing tons of coal off

Straight on the track leaving objects that could damage a train

    Holding up people

And now another load of coal is needed to replace what was lost.

Getting more oil as the engine loses fuel.

I'm 13 and if anything I sould worry about the future and carbon.

  • i`d agree with the last statment.

  • So you don't agree with anything except me being 13 and I should worry about Carbon. Even if people in Britain stop producing Carbon that dosen't mean the rest of the world will like Beijing which is one of the worlds most polluted city

  • between 10 to 20 litres an hour is the consumption ok,phil

  • So what happens to the environment when all this black crap gets washed into the river? Best hope it doesn't rain before it gets cleared up. Good one guys. What next? Emptying fuel tankers on a motorway?

  • it wont get cleaned up believe me ok?phil train driver.

  • Mindless and dangerous; I'd hate to think what would happen to those protesters, if those waggons suddenly started moving again. I can only hope the British Transport Police will be onto those reprobates.

  • actually I think they did... there are some big holkes in the bottom of the carriages. spin a wheel and out it comes, from what I can tell.

  • I'm sure that is the brake for when the wagon is on its own not coupled to anything.

  • I bet these muppets didn't empty all 36 tonnes of coal out of the wagon.

  • It's nearer 80 tonnes per wagon. The big wheel operates the handbrake not the doors.
