I've owned trucks, 2 RX7s, a Nova, a 240sx, and an RX8. I still have my Nova and my RX8.
So far my rotaries have shown a lot more personality, and they're just different.
Whether or not you hate rotaries, or don't care, you can't argue that having a mass produced alternative style engine doesn't push and help cultivate driving, and racing culture. And for that Mazda and Mazdaheads deserve respect. They're pushing the bar with something completely alternative and unique.
in my opinion a ricer is some pos with a stupid loud exhaust and a retarded body kit and a wing that looks like it came off a shopping cart,and manufactures stickers stuck all over the rust and bad paint,and would be lucky to run 15's in the 1/4 down hill.and handle like a mack truck with flat tires.a tuner is a car that is low key,clean runs hard and handles like a slot car,just saying.
@arctyler yea the rx7 talking about a standard/stock one comes with a 13b twin turbo engine pretty much it has massive power output 206kws and its only a 1.3ltr engine, but once major mods are done thats when headaches start it becomes a very unreliable motor

Compression = POWER, to have a compression you have to have a large CCV (Combustion Chamber Volume and Cylinder Volume) which then results in a large DISPLACEMENT! its stupid to comapre two diferent cars. Rx's were made for japan/eur roads where are many corners and twisty roads while Z06(with its predecessors and successors) were made for wide long open american roads. its true: american engines will work longer with realite little work while rotary engines does need a bit more work to work reliably. but that doesnt mean it sucks. stock FD3s has from 250-280BHP(with sequential turbo and NOT TWIN!!!), but can sports up to 500 with single turbo.
the exact same, a rotary like any engine is dependant on how it is maintained. the better yo maintain it the longer it will last. The same as the corvette.

Hey Genius have you ever been to a race track? Those lights correspond with the lanes. The right light lit because the Vette won it was in the right lane. If the RX-7 won the left light would have one because it means the left lane passed first. Learn how to read a tree before you decide to insult someone dumbass!

@baticueva2 That's a C6 Z06. Not a C5. And Corvettes are Sports Cars, not Muscle Cars. There's only 4 Muscle Cars still being built today. The Challenger, Charger, Camaro and Mustang. The only true Muscle Car out of the group is the Charger. The other three are Pony Cars, which is a smaller more compact car with Muscle Car characteristics. I Muscle Car is a larger sedan with A LOT more power, the ones packing the Big Blocks. The Corvette is a Sports Car like the RX7, a light weight two seater.

@BanditOMG yes you are a smart man indeed; although you also have to remember that there are 4 cylinders that are not ricers; see for instance STIs or EVOs or Sylias or MR2s; and they do not have standard engines; those engines are turbo ready which means that they make as much power as a V8 and more with simple bolt on swaps :). ricers are cars that are front wheel drive underpowered and completly cheap that we see every day and people try to make em fast; I hate those!

lawl @ single turbo. Considering that's a 13btt.... Very nice FD but definitely nowhere as stock as the description tries to make it sound. My Stock C5 Z06 runs 12.3, the C6 is even quicker, so either that person drives worse than Eddie Griffin, or that FD has more into it than the cost of my C5
my FD with a 35R run 11.3-11.5's@127 and i still have a/c and p/s.... a good daily i must say. On stock 80k mile motor/chassis that i bought for $12k and the extra $5k for the single turbo kit and tuning, and wheels.
But im going to agree with the fact that the guy has no idea how to drive that FD.... nor the guy in the vette.
Hell no. It has to have at least 15k in it. I still dont think it costs as much as a C5 Z06 did brand new but it would be close to what its worth now.
I wasn't referring to brand new. I paid 30k for my Z06, now it's running 100hp on the bottle as well as a centrifugal S/C (ProCharger) Making 590 at the wheels before nitrous, whereas stock was making about 350 at the wheels. Needless to say, I'm now in the 9's
Actually stock suspension in the rear, tires are obviously slicks though, otherwise I'd never stick. At this point my biggest fear is destroying the rear end, so I may just shelf running the 1/4 soon, as the Z06 is more of a track car anyhow, but yea best runs have been high 9's. Beauty of the Z06 is the factory suspension is adjustable in a slew of ways. And yes to the gears question, new performance transmission as of about 1k miles ago.
my best run is 11.78 du to a couple of issue. I drive a TT Z that run was on 275-35-18 I have the non turbo rear end whic has 4.10 gears stock (awesome right) But wont hold the same power as the TT which can run in the 9's consistantly with 16" slicks which is what I need at 17-18psi max is 23 psi I think once I get to low 11 i will stop as to not break an axle my car id a DD. Very impresive numbers though what made you go procharge instead of turbo?
Easy, instant boost. Procharger was much less expensive than the TT route, and it's much more reliable. Mine is also a DD, 305's on the rear, but you also have to factor in a few things. HP isn't everything, it's more of a P/W ratio as well as digging in and getting off the line quickly. You can have all the power in the world, but if you can't put it down to the pavement then it isn't worth it. C5 Z06 from the factory puts down about 350wh... which is very little considering the #'s it shows.
Getting ready to supercharge my 2000 Jeep TJ though, as to be quite honest, it's a hell of a lot more fun to drive than the Corvette. Half debated doing an LS2 swap, but that also requires an axle overhaul amongst other things, and would rather not drop 30k into it right yet. Probably will in a few years though.
I agre P/W throttle response, gearing, and traction have always been my focus. I only ask because I have raced a couple of supercgarged cars and although the accelerate hard the seem to give out (usual side effect of belt driven inductions) but space is an issue. I make the same arguement all the time when I see 1200hp vipers run 11's bcs of traction. What tires and rim setup do you run.

And why a 2.0L? The rx7 has a rotary engine with 1.3L. And corvettes beat tuner cars all the time, and i'm not even a corvette fan but to say a statement like that is kinda dumb. A corvette (the good ones, not the fail ones from the 90's) will prob beat 85% of tuner cars on the road. Anyways that rx7 looks like mine minus the wing and the wheels :D

@Harutmakina Oh god no, that wasn't at all what I was saying. I was marveling at the guy talking about how a corvette could beat 85% of tuner cars. I was saying Not 85% of the tuners would be beat, but 100% of the ricers for sure. People mistake tuners and ricers for the same thing day in and day out, when there is a huge difference. The Rx-7 is by no means a ricer, Ricers are mandatory 4 cylinders anyway... I see no cylinders here :) Just rotational rape.

@BanditOMG yes you are a smart man indeed; although you also have to remember that there are 4 cylinders that are not ricers; see for instance STIs or EVOs or Sylias or MR2s; and they do not have standard engines; those engines are turbo ready which means that they make as much power as a V8 and more with simple bolt on swaps :). ricers are cars that are front wheel drive underpowered and completly cheap that we see every day and people try to make em fast; I hate those!

And personally as an owner of an MR2, there's not a damn thing rice about it considering since my front badge fell off everyone asks me about my "Ferrari." Those moments are what make driving that car irresistible hahaha

lawl @ single turbo. Considering that's a 13btt.... Very nice FD but definitely nowhere as stock as the description tries to make it sound. My Stock C5 Z06 runs 12.3, the C6 is even quicker, so either that person drives worse than Eddie Griffin, or that FD has more into it than the cost of my C5

cost has nothing to do with it.....
my FD with a 35R run 11.3-11.5's@127 and i still have a/c and p/s.... a good daily i must say. On stock 80k mile motor/chassis that i bought for $12k and the extra $5k for the single turbo kit and tuning, and wheels.
But im going to agree with the fact that the guy has no idea how to drive that FD.... nor the guy in the vette.

Hell no. It has to have at least 15k in it. I still dont think it costs as much as a C5 Z06 did brand new but it would be close to what its worth now.

I wasn't referring to brand new. I paid 30k for my Z06, now it's running 100hp on the bottle as well as a centrifugal S/C (ProCharger) Making 590 at the wheels before nitrous, whereas stock was making about 350 at the wheels. Needless to say, I'm now in the 9's

9's with less than 700whp is real impressive you must have spent at least 5k in suspension and tires. Did you change your gears too.

Actually stock suspension in the rear, tires are obviously slicks though, otherwise I'd never stick. At this point my biggest fear is destroying the rear end, so I may just shelf running the 1/4 soon, as the Z06 is more of a track car anyhow, but yea best runs have been high 9's. Beauty of the Z06 is the factory suspension is adjustable in a slew of ways. And yes to the gears question, new performance transmission as of about 1k miles ago.

my best run is 11.78 du to a couple of issue. I drive a TT Z that run was on 275-35-18 I have the non turbo rear end whic has 4.10 gears stock (awesome right) But wont hold the same power as the TT which can run in the 9's consistantly with 16" slicks which is what I need at 17-18psi max is 23 psi I think once I get to low 11 i will stop as to not break an axle my car id a DD. Very impresive numbers though what made you go procharge instead of turbo?

Easy, instant boost. Procharger was much less expensive than the TT route, and it's much more reliable. Mine is also a DD, 305's on the rear, but you also have to factor in a few things. HP isn't everything, it's more of a P/W ratio as well as digging in and getting off the line quickly. You can have all the power in the world, but if you can't put it down to the pavement then it isn't worth it. C5 Z06 from the factory puts down about 350wh... which is very little considering the #'s it shows.

Getting ready to supercharge my 2000 Jeep TJ though, as to be quite honest, it's a hell of a lot more fun to drive than the Corvette. Half debated doing an LS2 swap, but that also requires an axle overhaul amongst other things, and would rather not drop 30k into it right yet. Probably will in a few years though.

I agre P/W throttle response, gearing, and traction have always been my focus. I only ask because I have raced a couple of supercgarged cars and although the accelerate hard the seem to give out (usual side effect of belt driven inductions) but space is an issue. I make the same arguement all the time when I see 1200hp vipers run 11's bcs of traction. What tires and rim setup do you run.
