@GigaCake you are more likely to continue to play if you have a good guitar...it's not Easier, you can pick up a cheap guitar or a top of the line Gibson or epiphone but you still gotta learn.
@lastofmykind8 I think it is easier if you're talking about a decent neck and action, some cheap guitars out there are heinous. But you're totally right about a good guitar making you want to play and of course, still having to put in the time and learn.
@ThreePieceDenimSuit i know a brand that sells really good les paul copies for less than two hundred bucks...good action and neck. and the sound will amaze you and make you want to play guitar forever haha.
Hİ imasneniraas, its been 2 years since the demo. Do you still own this guitar? Any ups downs? I'm planning to by one - still not sure about it.. Thanks for the Squier classic vibe tele demo by the way. It is in my shoping list now.
Yes, I've still got it and it's still a player. I changed the neck and bridge pickups for GFS P90s and it sounds clearer and twangier now. Looking at it on the wall as I write this :-)
hey imasneniraas, I've been looking for one of this for a while now in red and have been having a really hard time, if you ever think of selling it would you keep me in mind? thanks!
hi..thanks for the reply..got one more question, how about the tube on big ben? how long can they last if you are playing it everyday? thanks again..peace
Wow, man, that things sounds really good. I'm tossing around the idea of getting one sometime, but the only thing that concerns me is the buzz from the p90s and the bigsby's intonation issues. How bad is the buzz, and do you have trouble keeping the bigsby in tune? I saw you cranking on it, and it seemed to stay pretty solid. I'd appreciate your help.
Hi, no buzzing from stock P90's, in fact they are hum cancelling when in series! All pickups buzz a little if you play your amp cranked up and use a distortion pedal. No tuning problems with the Bigsby. Just put the strings on correctly and stretch them well!
Sorry to keep posting on here, but this guitar is just truly awesome. I've had mine for a month now and playing it just gets better and better... and better.
how was it out of the box. A lot of reviews I've read say that the frets usually need a little working over and a good trus rod adjustment before it starts tickling them in the fun places...
I tried this in my local shop and just had to get it. I bought it 5pm yesterday and was gigging it at a wedding at8pm... I just HAD to take it with me last night. Great response from the rest of the band.
I put non-bass instruments (guitars, mandolin etc) through a small mixer into both a Marshall head/4x10 cabinet and a 1964 copper paneled Vox ac30 and blend the two amps depending on the venue.
really sweet playing and guitar! could you tell me the difference between this yamaha and the other semi-hollow body guitars, please(ex. epiphone sheraton or dot)?
im in love with these kind of guitars and im still hesitating.:) my alternaive choice is a Hagstrom Viking.
Thanks for diggin'! This is buildwise just as all the other semiacoustics out there. The three P90 pickups with multiple switching options and the Bigsby make this guitar very special! Forget that Viking ;-)
Hi and thanks! I've got a Digitech Bad Monkey which is basically a hotrodded Tubescreamer. It sounds really great with AC30. But my VOX Big Ben Overdrive kills the Bad Monkey!
anyone whos intrested i have this exact guitar in perfect condition still with the bigsby and the p90's....
i'm about to sell it on ebay, so send me an email on here and i'll give you a link to the item page, oh, and musegroove12.. i play it through an ac15 aswell, sounds incredible believe me!
yeah but replacing all the stuff to china means they disavow the amps past, that's exactly the same thing as if Ferrari replaced their plant to Taiwan or something. how crazy would that be? I don't say the quality is lower. but you pay the same money as before! also, now it's impossible to choose between the celestion blue and bulldog speakers. but okay. sound is rad, pretty nice playing too.. oh and are these p-90 pickups?
First off great playing, I love the sound. My amp of choice is a vox ac15 and i'm planning on getting this guitar, but I have a question. First how are the pickups? They sound great but would it be a bad choice to upgrade to gibson original p90 pickups?
i am getting the tvl for christmas and i was looking at a few other guitars, is it worth getting the sa503? i really like the guitar and i like troy van leeuwens work with qotsa. so out of 5 what would you rate it?
I'd rate it 4 out of five. It is not made in Japan but in Indonesia. The finish is not flawless and there's some finish cracking at the neck joint (due to climate season changes here in Finland). But for tone and playability I rate it five stars!
It's about 4 kilos, not too heavy at all. There were two other heavier ones in the store and I bought the lightest one. This one also had the best neck of the three!
Hello, I think the blue alnico speakers are worth the extra money. They deliver THE Vox sound as I understand it. I always play the normal channel. Thanks for asking!
That's a 1969 Tele and a 50's Classic Tele. I'm a Telecaster man, have 6 of them. I like the Yamaha, it's my only semiacoustic. Gotta love those P-90s! I replaced the bridge and neck pickups with GFS Vintage P-90s and that axe sounds even better now!
This guy has good rhythm. He's swinging those notes instead of playing straight 16ths, like most guys "shredding" on youtube do. It's the rhythm of the notes which makes it sound cool. Of course, having good tone also helps.

Do you have the switch on the back of the AC30 on "Vintage" or "Modern"?
bastiaanvanbeek 3 years ago
I've set the switch to modern for more clean headroom.
imasneniraas 3 years ago
i've read that there are some tubing issues with the tvl, have you found that? tasty jam btw
adamwebb1 3 years ago
No tubing or tuning issues as long as you put the strings on correctly and "punish" them hard before playing.

i have a set of lollar imperial humbuckers making their way to me so i can't wait to see how they sound :)

The TVL sounds like it has more "mahogany meat" as compared to a the standard maple gibby 335 guit.
jawadahmad77 4 years ago
The TVL is all maple. That meat comes from the VOX AC30 / VOX Big Ben booster combo. And from my fingers :-)
imasneniraas 4 years ago
The neck has to be mahogany at the very least!!
jawadahmad77 4 years ago
I checked the specs and the neck is also maple.
Could also be mahogany, cause the grain looks like it under that red finish...
