I support open carry. One day when I was at the baseball I had a stupid redneck and his kids sitting behind me spitting on me and, and throwing food over me. I politely asked him to stop his kids from doing so, however he did not listen. So I pulled my gun on him and his kids and threatened i'll blow his head off. They moved seats and everyone was happy. Obviously it wasn't loaded, that would be illegal.

If you open carry AND carry an attitude with your gun, like I believe these individuals did, I imagine you are going to find trouble wherever you go, which, it appears, they did. There is no reason whatsoever in my mind for a responsible gun owner to get into an argument in a public place about this issue. With the attitude these people had, they should not be allowed to carry period. All these individuals were looking for was an argument and it seems they got it.

I wonder why that customer stopped being a cop after only 6 years... and why he doesn't know that open carry is legal... and why some people on here think only a crazy drugged up weirdo would carry a gun. While I think open carry is a bad idea, I think it's really sad how bad the perception of citizens exercising their right to bear arms has become.
NOTE: I prefer concealed carry because I believe it is in your best interest not to advertise to criminals that you have a firearm.

I'm not anti-gun, i think the 2nd amendment is great but carrying a firearm openly into somewhere like a store or a resturant is kind of asking for trouble, either the establishment owners are going to confront you about it or possibly someone else might get intimidated/scared by seeing you with the gun.
I would recommend conceal carry that way you have your gun to protect yourself and your family but the whole world cant see you walking around like clint eastwood in a western movie.

I support open carry. One day when I was at the baseball I had a stupid redneck and his kids sitting behind me spitting on me and, and throwing food over me. I politely asked him to stop his kids from doing so, however he did not listen. So I pulled my gun on him and his kids and threatened i'll blow his head off. They moved seats and everyone was happy. Obviously it wasn't loaded, that would be illegal.

@mjschumaker If the state and locality permit the open carry of firearms and the store did not have a sign posted that no weapons were allowed, then they should not have had anything said to them by either the manager or the "ex-cop customer". That being said...they could have handled that situation better.

The day when exercising what is perfectly legal = just trying to cause problems, is a bad day. He knows the laws because he has to. People who open carry are harassed constantly in many areas and if they don't know the laws they look like fools. I'd much rather look like a know-it-all than a fool.
