She was a spy during world war II - she died in the river Nile during a car accident, but the driver survived.

Some say she was killed by Oum Kalsoum, who was her biggest rival back then, but that's just stupid gossip.

ام كلثوم لم تغني من الحان القصبجي بعد ان لحن لاسمهان و قد اخذت الموقف الصارم من القصبجي خاصة بعد ان لحن لها اغنية الطيور اذ رفضت ام كلثوم غناء هذه الاغنية لصعوبتها و قام بعدها القصبجي باعطاء هذه الرائعة لاسمهان وقد اجادت فيها بروعة . مما اثار جنون السيدة امكلثوم

لم تغني لفريد لسببين :

الاول لنفس السبب الذي لم تغني لعبد الوهاب حتى تدخل الرئاسة المصرية ( لتتنازل السيدة و تغني من الحان عبد الوهاب ) ولم يتوسط احد بينها و بين فريد المنافس كما هو عبد الوهاب المنافس .

- السبب الثاني و المهم هي اسمهان .

Ya touyour was never given to Umm Kulthum as after the failure of Opera Aida (the movie), which she wasn't convinced, she categorically refused to sing opera-style song, and not because her voice wasn't capable, but because her audience did not appreciate it. In addition, she was very protective of traditional Arabic singing and she was the last Arab singer to offer the classical and traditional way style of singing that relied primarily on improvisations.
