I was wondering how this has stood the test of time since I last watched it in the late 70's. Back then I was addicted to it and never missed an episode. I had never seen animated characters with such depth, complexity and emotion. Even the enemy was allowed to have the same qualities so you felt compassion for their suffering as well. Love, jealousy, betrayal, sarcasm, sadness and even death were atypical of anything coming from the U.S. This show had a profound effect on me but for the better.
