  • im not agreeing with this, a building should place itself in harmony with their surroundings

  • Wow, bow down na talaga ako sa inyo. Too impressed na talaga ako eh, ang gagaling kasi.

  • hi this is chef john from foodwishes (dot) com with ...

  • I M Pei got it right at the Louvre eclectic and utilitarian. Interesting vid.

  • THE BEST SERIES YET! I LOVE YOU!

  • Could you do some videos on Zaha Hadid? She just won the prestigious Stirling Prize for architecture for her new museum in Rome. She's arguably the best deconstructive architect of our time.

  • I find that your videos are very inspiring for me while I undertake my final High School exams. I hope to undertake an architectural degree next year. When is there going to be a video about the great Doug Patt?? :P

  • Hi Doug, i love these series! may it never end =D

  • as i already said, it's just beautiful,

i believe some people will disagree.

But in my opinion, if done with good taste,

the combination between old and modern

(not only in architecture) can bring to

the creation of an amazing piece of art.

  • i think the pyramid, when seen next to the original building, is a failure. It simply doesn't fit. There is a difference between contrast and mismatch. The old and new structures look completely unrelated, like two separate entities built too close together.

  • I'd disagree. That pyramid may look dope on itself, but contrast in material and style is just an excuse of inability read, follow and build along the design guidelines already given.

  • I like the Old architecture mixed with Modern Architecture..

That really caracterize the whole image..

  • @Zoza15 to me the pyramid is the old building.

Doug, who would you prefer to do a video on, A. Gaudi, F. Gehry, D. Libeskind, or Z. Hadid?

  • @DeRealUno

D.Libeskind has interesting concepts to show off..

But i do favor Rem Koolhaas the most ;)

  • Frank Gehry is a great architect to highlight as well

  • I love your videos Doug. Could I suggest that you do one on John Lautner

  • @fallingwatersnz Great idea. The challenge is the lack of non-copywritten images of his work. I can't do videos without images I can use. That's why flickr and wikipedia work so well. Attribution Creative Commons License.

  • @howtoarchitect

Doug, can you do a video on copyright law?

If I plan on writing a book or making a video about some architect's work, I assume I have to get permission to use copies of the architect's plans & photos taken by someone else. However, can I take my own photos & draw my own plans to put in my book or video?

That raises the question of who would give you access to their building if you weren't going to say positive things about it! That's why there are so few objective books.

  • These just keep getting better and better. Great work, Mr. Patt.

  • @architect39042 thanks. like your reflections video.

  • nice
