The Indian Nationalist movement then became separated during the WW, one part of it from what I know was the Forward Bloc that looked for favor from Hiter. It amazes me that under British Raj, Indians supported the Allies' cause. I want to know whether it was voluntary or whether they had to if they were in the army?
Thank You for these two videos... they should be shown on TV... so many British people know nothing of this. I am a mother & grandmother and I will be informing my family about the Sikh contribution in WW1 & WW2 now I have more understanding, because of these videos I have watched here today.
Thank You to the Sikh community and their ancestors who fought for British democracy and freedom - Thank You very much.
@infinity588 your turban doesn't make you a terrorist. It makes you stand out and give you an opportunity to educate people about Sikhs and their sacrifices.
@MrRange12345 - Sadly the information in these videos is not understood by many British people today and it should be. More needs to be said in schools and on TV about Sikhs contribution in the British army and how your ancestors were willing to lay down their lives for our freedom and democracy. I am very sorry - it is not that today's generation have forgotten... they were never told! Our grand parents and great grandparents rarely talked about the Wars, because they were traumatised by them.
What we get in return? Nothing besides losing our homeland to Hindus and Muslims. No self respected Sikhs should support British ever again. Don't join British army and fight their wars!
Nowadays you wouldn't be able to go to Britain without get spat at and get called a terrorist if you had a turban. Why guru ji does this have to happen why can we not all just get along like back then? Why does my turban make me a terrorist?
@Infinity588 then its up to sikhs to toughen up and let them know who u are... instead of moaning! imagine growing up at school as an only sikh, 25 years ago! after 9/11, if i ever got shit aboutbeing, bin-laden etc, i told em straight.... sikhs shouldnt fear anything!
@Infinity588 - I am sorry that you have experienced prejudice in Britain. We need to get videos like this into the media... on TV, to inform people about Sikhs and their contribution in WW1 & WW2.
As an English mother and grandmother, I knew very little about this before watching these two videos.
In all honesty I do not sense any animosity at all towards turban wearers in my circle of English family & friends, but we all need a better understanding of Sikhs and your ancestors contribution.
