Star child process (emperor turning into a god) has been discarded and he cannot ressurect also, because the warp is corrupted. I always thought the CSM were exxagerating when they said "emperor = a rotting corpse, death to the false emperor". But it was true after all :P

Chaos is there for ppl who are not small minded and less ignorant. You can say aboutbeing a puppet to the dark gods, but the bulk of the chaos marines is undivided wich means they are not controlled by the dark gods completely or anything at all. It is a weapon just like any other in their arsenal. YOu could actually refer to them as the free marines and because they know only war they turn only to that, wich is logical. Chaos offers way more freedom and power then in the service of the emperor!
