I saw this tour and it was fantastic! Genesis and Phil Collins always put on a great tour. We'd watch them in Portland, Oregon and then drive up to Seattle to see them again.
I find this very intertaining, because being a former Illegal Alien is all true, taking a trip to Downtown we ran the risk of being cought by INS or like my brother called it Manotas. When your in the outside you see this country as the Emeral City over the Horizon where everything comes easy, All the streets are paved, No trash, Povery does not exsist....Like My Uncle Chuy said once to his brother who came to take him back to Mexico....Poor here in U.S. or Poor in Mexico? I rather be Poor here.
@SPeacock Nice Question, because the Movie Box was released last Year, they had a chance to do it. Dodo, Old Medley,Carpet Crawlers,Follow You, Follow Me and Los Endos are sadly still missing on the Movie Box. A Soundboard exists of this Gig, also an Audience record, Video parts surely yes...
Complete VideoConcerts from all Genesis Tours, that would be great : from 76,77,78,81,82,83,84,86 with complete Cage Medley or from the lamb tour and so on :-(
@calboy2 Yeah...because Bill Clinton and all his democrat buddies aren't filthy stinking rich either right?? And it wasn't the white, rich, republican men standing out in front of the voting office with billie clubs threatening voters as they walked in the front door now was it?? Grow a brain...

I'm really digging the fact that an acoustic-electric classical guitar is being used with that effect on the main riff. I mean, wow. Also you can appreciate Mike's fantastic Steinberger bass sound. As for the song itself it might have been ill-advised but I would think Genesis meant no real harm about it.
Maybe not the best Genesis song, and maybe one of the most criticized songs of Genesis, but you can't deny that these guys had an amazing time performing it, you can see they're having fun, the same with the video clip. I've always been thinking that these guys didn't change their musical direction because of money, they changed because they felt that this was the kind of music they wanted to play.
Genesis, at least Collins are, were pretty liberal (no son of mine, jesus he knows me, land of confusion, domino ect)
I'm not sure if this song was a racist jab at wetbacks, or a lampoon on the anti-immigrant hystaria, or both. Can anyone elaborate based on interviews or anything?
@SmilingThruChaos Even in the eighties, having songs in the charts, wasn't a synonym for excellence. Exactly my point, TFF had only three! Thanks the Lord.
100 years ago it was acceptable for al jolsten to wear black pancake on his face and get down on one knee singing "mamma" in pantomime of emancipated slaves. How do you think society will view this song in the next 100 years?
I'm glad Genesis didn't play this song during their last tour in 2007. Otherwise some neanderthals from ICE would have storm the stage, arrest Phil Collins and deport him cutting the concert short.
This song may be silly but it is still one of the greatest pop songs Genesis ever made. Great beat & rhythm, Original sound & Catchy lyrics. What more could you ask for in a song?
Totally agree. I'm inclined to think that after Steve Hackett left Genesis "threw out the baby with the bathwater" on "...And Then There Were Three..." but I can still recognize pure pop genius when I hear it.
