Buy Vai's new DVD and listen to the intricate and technically demanding music compared to Vai Zakk's an amateur. I like Zakk Wylde but i'm getting bored with his playing he has no subtlety it's all just tones of distortion and playing really fast. Vai has melodic and tonal feeling and a lot of subtlety. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD is one of the best guitar pieces ever!!!!!

I am a HUGE Zakk fan, but this video is a poor representation of his playing. This was recorded at an Ozzy show where Zakk only had a couple of minutes to fuck around. If you watch other videos of him doing his spotlight solo, they are all amazing, and show what he can really do. Zakk can play a lot of shit that you guys don't know about. He can play anything. He's schooled in all styles of Guitar. He does favor the Penatonic Scales, but so what. He DOES have his own unique style.
Nothing amazing about this, just inane twiddling, i've heard better solos with more feeling and melody, try Michael Schenker, Randy Rhoads, Tony MacAlpine, Rik Emmet or Jon Schaffer.
dude zakk and malmsteen styles are extremley different , if you play notes super fast doesnt make you a great guitar player , its all about HOW you play it and make it as much melodic as you can !!

..without wanting to upset people, this solo by Zakk is musicaly piss poor. Zakk may well be a decent rock guitarist, that solo was very amateurist!! Ive been playing guitar since I was 6. Zakk Wylde is at best an average player who got lucky, even Zakk will tell you that(as he has said in many interviews!!) This solo can be played by anyone who has a bit of dedication!! Zakk aint that hot as a shredder!!

it's his voice. Love it or hate it. If everyone's approach to the guitar was the same, nobody's be unique. Some think more melodically, Zakk's approach is more noise oriented. Though he CAN play melodically VERY well. His bag of tricks is this.
And come on, listen to the audience's reaction when he plays. It sounds like they're on a roller coaster!
