Please check out my Glinka performance - Kissin has inspired me to learn a lot of pieces, including Liebestraum. Thanks for posting this beautiful recording.
After hearing Kissin, I can't listen to anyone else's Liebestraum. :) Saw him in an all-Liszt recital in Boston this week and I am still dazed! I couldn't believe it when he played this piece for his last encore - I've been listening to it for years and to hear it live at last was incredible! <3
I cannot stop coming back to this video. I hum the tune at work, i think of the elegance of his style as i play my piano, i am intoxicated by the beautiful sound ...
Well in those he was very busy, never time for a haircut you know. Just imagine a barber trying to keep up with him during rehearsal. First a barber had to memorize the score also, as Kissin is always moving. And who could predict that sudden head jerk, at 1:58? Extremely dangerous. This is why Mozart and Rossini wrote about barbers. Something for hair critics to think about.
Piano virtuosity, and all people can say is "lolz, he needs a haircut." Perhaps those people would be better off watching pop videos where the fashion tips are actually appreciated - they are not here.
can hear him playing always and ever - don't get tired - every composition becames a special note - he brings me to hear the purity an clearness of music - like of another world
yo your mom is so pro....she seemed satisfied with the handling i gave her last night, even when i stapled her vagina 6 times in a row. She told me that she doesn't care cause she'll be getting a fake vagina tmr. Anyways..... tell me, isn't it hard living with two moms. YOU'RE JUST A FUCKING JEALOUS ASSHOLE WHO CAN BARELY PLAY JINGLE BELLS ON PIANO.
I am also a big fan of Evgeny Kissin. Please get his recordings of Chopin's mazurkas at Carnegie Hall. CD was released under RCA Victor Red Label. They are so good that you will not be able to listen to anyone else play them. Please check it out.
Kissin displays here what has always set him apart - an uncanny sense of line in the melody - very strong. A favorite album of his for me, for that reason, is the one with his Liszt trnscrpts of Schubert songs. One downside though is that the melody has a certain obligatory intensity to it - it must always sing, intensely, for Kissin. There is not much mystery to this performance. Still - very, very strong. Kissin is like no other.
Not good execution, IMHO. I heard before a lot of amazing things from this young man, I think maybe that evening he was not at 100%. A lot of mistakes, but I indeed consider Kissin a very very interesting pianist.
