Punk has been a part of metal since the late 70s and I doubt thats going to change soon. I might even go as far as to call black metal as much of a punk subgenre(in a grindcore sense of the word) as a metal subgenre as it sounds a lot closer to much of the crust and grindcore of the 80s.
