I just played through for the second time after 8 years... I didn't remember the castle that much neither the ending movie. The scene where Squall can't figure out Rinoa's face is creepy and at the end when the space suit's helmet explodes and tears running into Squall's eyes that is some heartbreaking moment. :'( I cried at the end of the game.

While Rinoa is in a grassy field with flowers. One the epitome of death, and the other of life. I think all signs point to squall dieing and being revived.
the 1 thing FF7 lacked was a real ending but the way it's story went it didnt really set itself up to have one, they jus killed Seph and waited to see what would happen. If FF7 was a bit different it's ending prolly woulda been comparable to 8's but yeah 8 has an amazing end. When she tried to wake him and said something to him, he didn't move and she burst into tears. It's only at about 6:11 that it looks like he moves again and that she finally smiles.
GO SEIFER!!! You may have failedto become a SEED but you can become an excellent pokemon trainer! So go catch some aqua type pokemons with the fishing pokeballs! And not only that! You won't lose your memory as other still use GFs!

Impressive ending, broken gameplay. The last series of bosses is so ridiculously overpowered that even though I had very powerful chars all at low levels I still had to cheat. I boosted everyone's str stat to maximum and despite that it still took three tries to finish off the bosses. Scaling is the most retarded thing ever invented in RPG games :D
Final Fantasy VIII was WAAAAY better than VII. Never could get into it. The best Final Fantasy was and still is Tactics. That being said, the ending to VIII actually gives one the satisfaction of having spent 50+ hours playing it. I love the fact there is only music too.

People like that usually rewrite reality in their own minds, lying to themselves in a way to cope with failure and frustration. It's no wonder why he's so rude to people who try to befriend him (Quistis).
With Rinoa, it was apparently different. She was the only one who succeeded in getting closer to him.
Squall had to find an explanation as to why he ended alone instead of being with his friends and the woman he loved.
His mind went into a severe conflict, because he couldn't figure it out, and it rewrote everything that happened to him, finally concluding that the real timeline was that Rinoa had died in that dreaded episode in sideral space. In this manner, he had never lived the events leading to Ultimecia's destrution and would never see her again.
This ending is the best most EPIC ending ever animated in a video game and Final Fantasy 8 is to me a truly amazing series in fact to me Final Fantasy 8 comes in 1st place while Final Fantasy 10 comes in at a close Second place not to mention Final Fantasy Dissidia in third but still this game is by far one of the best Final Fantasies i have ever played!!!!

Literally just finished the game, and i can only say ITS THE BEST. The fact the final boss ios near impossible only makes the feeling greater when you've beat the game :) This makes my whole year!
with ultimecia defeated time begins to return to normal. but squall is still trapped in the compressed time. rhinoa finds him unconscious and then completely destroys the time compression with her powers (by accident) thus saving squall and everything is returned to normal.
not really cos his most powerful one is pulse ammo and still it is pretty ptitful i mean c'mon he's got a gun lol but still yer it goes alright haha FF8 FOREVER! hehe
i dont like irvine that much so i never really tried to level him up or get him to that extreme point hahaha but thats awesome, the more i talk about this game the more it makes me wanna play it, i know, i shall go play it now hahaha lol
I wasn't a huge fan of anyone other than Squall, but I somehow managed to get Irvine and Rinoa (of all people :/) to decent levels for the final battle. This saved my ass, since I was doing about 50,000 points of damage with every one of Irvine's limit breaks. Add in Squall's Lionheart limit break and Rinoa's invincibility limit break, and I actually had a chance against the final bosses.
Still took me two tries and a combined time of four hours to defeat them, though.
i use zell rinoa and squall all up to level 100 and use the GF abilities to up there strength to the max of 250 and there health to 9999 and there other stats nearly maxed out and i love lionheart limit break 9999 everytime it was insane haha it took me about 5 tries to beat it only like 2 hours though
I haven't seen this in a good 6 or 7 years, but that spot with the helmet shattering and Squall dropping to his knees is still one of the most troubling and chilling things I've ever seen out of a video game.
for people who didn't understand the ending -- time compression screwed time. existences got screwed. so that the party doesn't fade from existence, the party must "remember" each other to make sure they all re-exist together. poor Squall must've doubted everyone at the last moment, and he got stuck in time compresssion. hence, the "desert" he dropped into and the "fading" memories. he couldn't find his way to Rinoa's promised place (the flowerfield). lucky for him Rinoa fought hard to remember.
the only thing i understood bout the ending is how laguna proposed to raine lol GENIUS cheap and effectice no wedding bells just got merried at the night lol

you know rinoa is kinda the true heroine of FF VIII. was it not for her they would have defeated ultimecia but the world would have remained f***ed up in time compression.
Quick and easy, squall learns who Rinoa really is. The two backgrounds interfuse as well as Rinoa and Ultma's face. When his observatins are confirmed, one tear falls from his face. He's basically stuck in time because he realizes he killed Rinoa/Ultamecia. Rinoa doesn't really see Squall at the end, schizophrenia. This is the reason Rinoa/Ultma despises seed. She understands that squall will kill her, and she despises him for that; everything is her train of thought, or an illusion.
and what the hell do you mean schizophrenia? squall isnt a schizo. true, rinoa and ultamecia might both be sorceresses, but at the very end, rinoa is still alive.
you're right dude. rinoa is ultmicia. rinoa turns into ultimicia, it is inevitable. she wants time compression because she lost squall (stuck in time.) ellone's flashbacks to laguna show squall his parallel. their loves had to die. it doesn't change anything though, because rinoa will go crazy and start the cycle where she ends up passing her power to matron, edea. squall stuck in time is the sacrifice he makes, why he keeps forshadowing the alone message.
not to argue with you, but square has long since confirmed that rinoa is not ultimecia. the theory seems extremely plausible, but if the creators of the game say it isn't true, then it probably isn't. i do like the theory though.

Laguna is probably the best Final Fantasy character ever. His part at the ending brought me to tears. I mean, the guy just tries his best to stay optimistic and happy even through all the bad times, like when Raine dies. Well, at least he still has Kiros and Ward and Ellone.

Basically after the group ensured that the apocalypse occured, Squall gets lost in the fabric of space time. Rinoa using her powers somehow locates Squall and they end up back in Edea's house's garden. Their Airship/school comes to pick them up and they celebrate absolutely nothing.

i've played every final fantasy game there is (anyway as far as the main numbered series goes). i really tried to get into this game but i never really could.
GAH! Final fantasy 8 is the best one of all! Best storyline...best bosses...best sidequests...best cgi cutscenes.(Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this game is awesome because of its graphics, but they're a nice bonus and I'll always say that Final fantasy 7 has amazing graphics for its time).
That part when Squall was remembering all of what happened was hurting my eyes. and also why did that happen? Reminded me of Crisis Core at the end when the pictures on the DMW started dissapearing.
The girl waving to him was Ellone, Squall's sister. As for Raine, Laguna loved Julia, but never saw her again. (Julia eventually married General Caraway and they had Rinoa fyi.) Laguna ended up on Winhill, andhe fell in love with Raine. They had 1 child, who was Squall. And I believe Ellone was Raine's daughter from another man.
Well...we don't really know Raine's Maiden Name....maybe Squall take the name from his mather,cause the village didn't like Laguna :look: however there's no doubt that Laguna is Squall's father...you can understand it clearly when he is on the Ragnarock XD

i dont like irvine that much so i never really tried to level him up or get him to that extreme point hahaha but thats awesome, the more i talk about this game the more it makes me wanna play it, i know, i shall go play it now hahaha lol

I wasn't a huge fan of anyone other than Squall, but I somehow managed to get Irvine and Rinoa (of all people :/) to decent levels for the final battle. This saved my ass, since I was doing about 50,000 points of damage with every one of Irvine's limit breaks. Add in Squall's Lionheart limit break and Rinoa's invincibility limit break, and I actually had a chance against the final bosses.
Still took me two tries and a combined time of four hours to defeat them, though.

i use zell rinoa and squall all up to level 100 and use the GF abilities to up there strength to the max of 250 and there health to 9999 and there other stats nearly maxed out and i love lionheart limit break 9999 everytime it was insane haha it took me about 5 tries to beat it only like 2 hours though

I haven't seen this in a good 6 or 7 years, but that spot with the helmet shattering and Squall dropping to his knees is still one of the most troubling and chilling things I've ever seen out of a video game.

for people who didn't understand the ending -- time compression screwed time. existences got screwed. so that the party doesn't fade from existence, the party must "remember" each other to make sure they all re-exist together. poor Squall must've doubted everyone at the last moment, and he got stuck in time compresssion. hence, the "desert" he dropped into and the "fading" memories. he couldn't find his way to Rinoa's promised place (the flowerfield). lucky for him Rinoa fought hard to remember.

this irritated me so much! when i first beat this game everytime it gets to a certain point it freezes up! luckily i think it was 2 birthdays or christmas's ago i got a new FFVIII and i finally got to see the ending! =D i didnt want to look it up b/c i wanted to be surprised o.o

Quick and easy, squall learns who Rinoa really is. The two backgrounds interfuse as well as Rinoa and Ultma's face. When his observatins are confirmed, one tear falls from his face. He's basically stuck in time because he realizes he killed Rinoa/Ultamecia. Rinoa doesn't really see Squall at the end, schizophrenia. This is the reason Rinoa/Ultma despises seed. She understands that squall will kill her, and she despises him for that; everything is her train of thought, or an illusion.

you're right dude. rinoa is ultmicia. rinoa turns into ultimicia, it is inevitable. she wants time compression because she lost squall (stuck in time.) ellone's flashbacks to laguna show squall his parallel. their loves had to die. it doesn't change anything though, because rinoa will go crazy and start the cycle where she ends up passing her power to matron, edea. squall stuck in time is the sacrifice he makes, why he keeps forshadowing the alone message.

not to argue with you, but square has long since confirmed that rinoa is not ultimecia. the theory seems extremely plausible, but if the creators of the game say it isn't true, then it probably isn't. i do like the theory though.

Laguna is probably the best Final Fantasy character ever. His part at the ending brought me to tears. I mean, the guy just tries his best to stay optimistic and happy even through all the bad times, like when Raine dies. Well, at least he still has Kiros and Ward and Ellone.

squall does not die !!!!! you see them at the end on the balcony together . not many people actually sat through the credits i bet and thats why they thinked he dies . but they are together at the end.rinoa brings him back because after ultemcia squall gets lost in time compression and rinoa finds him because they made that promise to meet each other. ff8 is the best and has a good ending i leave it at that !

Basically after the group ensured that the apocalypse occured, Squall gets lost in the fabric of space time. Rinoa using her powers somehow locates Squall and they end up back in Edea's house's garden. Their Airship/school comes to pick them up and they celebrate absolutely nothing.
I am completely serious about the apocalypse thing

GAH! Final fantasy 8 is the best one of all! Best storyline...best bosses...best sidequests...best cgi cutscenes.(Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this game is awesome because of its graphics, but they're a nice bonus and I'll always say that Final fantasy 7 has amazing graphics for its time).

The girl waving to him was Ellone, Squall's sister. As for Raine, Laguna loved Julia, but never saw her again. (Julia eventually married General Caraway and they had Rinoa fyi.) Laguna ended up on Winhill, andhe fell in love with Raine. They had 1 child, who was Squall. And I believe Ellone was Raine's daughter from another man.

Well...we don't really know Raine's Maiden Name....maybe Squall take the name from his mather,cause the village didn't like Laguna :look: however there's no doubt that Laguna is Squall's father...you can understand it clearly when he is on the Ragnarock XD
