We need to stop throwing the word education around like it is a common thing. Most of what we have come to perceive as education in this country means learn from what the white establishment deems as knowledge. How can you build a people who have no authentic ideas of their own. We have great minds on spirituality to health and business and foreign relations and history that are not in the main stream of education. What good is education if it is designed to perpetuate the status-quo?

Barkley raises an interesting point about how older blacks should have a chip on their shoulder, not younger ones. I really do think it's a cultural thing though. Older blacks had role models such as Dr. King to attach themselves too, while several poor inner city blacks today seem to look up to mostly athletes and rappers, many of whom glorify crime and violence. In places all over the world, there's generational poverty, but there's not as much violence that comes with it

Know my boy owns the biggest, nicest house on the block in a Lilly white neighborhood . His 3 sons are A students that go to a Lilly white school. Racism is'not the reason young black men kill each other. Racism will determine your quality of education but will not deter anyone from getting one. I have friends of all colors some successful some not. The one common denominator in all success stories is hard work. My best friend who is black decided a long time ago that the best way to show white people all the stereotypes about his race are wrong was to study hard, worked shit jobs and worked his way up the ladder.

It's about opportunity...real and/or perceived. Many blacks grow up in and repeat a cycle of poverty. Thus it can become hard to understand that there IS A REAL TANGIBLE CHANCE to be something. If you see someone that looks like you become an athlete, a rapper, an actor, etc...it's much easier to identify than a teacher, lawyer, doctor when you don't see anyone similar to you become one. Issues that come with race are more layered than an onion and must be peeled back slowly.
Education and God is the only way that the black person can make something out of themselves. As Charles said, racism will always be here. But black people, men in particular have to be accountable and accept the challenge of being more than pimps, drug dealers, thugs, dropouts, and dead beat dads.

The stats support my assertion. go to the vid on YouTube, what black men think. I have worked in 14 prisons in 2 states, pelican bay in California being one of them. the black population is 12% there. You have been as brainwashed; most. white males get probation, or a slap on the wrist. Furthermore, most of the blacks are in for drug offenses, and get longer sentences while most of the whites are in for heinous crimes. Plus, in jail and prison, whites are treated much better than blacks.
The bottom line is that people believe whatever they are told; I, however,I have done my homework and I have been there. The facts are more important to me than conjecture. If you want to believe the worst about black men I suppose that is your prerogative but the fact is there are more black men in college, between the ages of 18-24 than in prison.

We need to stop throwing the word education around like it is a common thing. Most of what we have come to perceive as education in this country means learn from what the white establishment deems as knowledge. How can you build a people who have no authentic ideas of their own. Barkley raises an interesting point about how older blacks should have a chip on their shoulder, not younger ones. I really do think it's a cultural thing though. Older blacks had role models such as Dr. King to attach themselves too, while several poor inner city blacks today seem to look up to mostly athletes and rappers, many of whom glorify crime and violence. In places all over the world, there's generational poverty, but there's not as much violence that comes with it

I have friends of all colors some successful some not. The one common denominator in all success stories is hard work. It's about opportunity...real and/or perceived. Many blacks grow up in and repeat a cycle of poverty. Thus it can become hard to understand that there IS A REAL TANGIBLE CHANCE to be something. If you see someone that looks like you become an athlete, a rapper, an actor, etc...it's much easier to identify than a teacher, lawyer, doctor when you don't see anyone similar to you become one. Issues that come with race are more layered than an onion and must be peeled back slowly.

The stats support my assertion. go to the vid on YouTube, what black men think. I have worked in 14 prisons in 2 states, pelican bay in California being one of them. the black population is 12% there. You have been as brainwashed; most. white males get probation, or a slap on the wrist. Furthermore, most of the blacks are in for drug offenses, and get longer sentences while most of the whites are in for heinous crimes. Plus, in jail and prison, whites are treated much better than blacks.

The bottom line is that people believe whatever they are told; I, however,I have done my homework and I have been there. The facts are more important to me than conjecture. If you want to believe the worst about black men I suppose that is your prerogative but the fact is there are more black men in college, between the ages of 18-24 than in prison.
