Those saying it's expensive ya it is if you were doing this for practical uses, but you get most of those items in your school electronics kit if you are taking CENG or EENG.

It's a cool project though, I sure anyone taking computer/electrical engineering will find this video useful. Which is probably who the video is geared towards.

you can just stick a plastic/paper on top of a battery.( i mean the metal conductor part which touch the battery) in a remote control. This will cut off the circuit and thus shut down the remote control... much cheaper and faster.
