Atleast AMD doesn't jack their processor prices up like intel. AMD is affordable cpu's yeah Intel may have the performance crown but AMD blows Intel out of the water in affordability. Intel can't touch AMD's budget Quad Core line. For 99 dollars you can get an AMD II X4 620 or an AMD Phenom X4 9850 and for around the same price on intel's side you can get a Pentuim Dual Core E6500. Hmmm.

The TLB bug was way overblown in the Phenom 9xxx, the vast majority of people that ran these Quad Cores never ran into this bug because the vast majority of people never used thier pc's as a 24/7 webserver or ran 3 virtual machines all at once, while encoding a video fuile at the same time which could then spike the L3 cache and cause the TLB problems. Only people running Webservers had to worry about this problem. The avg pc user would never run into the TLB issue.

This is one of the b2 stepping phenoms, I had this cpu once. I really wouldnt recommend buying one as they have the TLB Bug and also some were shipped out with faulty cores. The newer phenoms with the 50 on the end are based on the b3 which apparently all of these issues have been sorted on.

Fanboyism is an overused term. It's simply the way you look at the benchmarks and what you value in a processor. For me, overclockability and clock-for-clock speed are where it's at. And since Core 2 Quad's are typically more overclockable, and clock-for-clock, comparable if not slightly faster (although at this point the Phenom II is obviously a better buy), I'd put my money on Intel. Also, the Q9550 is about the same price. i5 however is the exact same price and more powerful than either.

you put this on every video to do with AMD you sad bugger. AMD Is ahead of intel on everything but memory though first to 1 ghz first to dual core first to native quad, only ever tri core and in 2010 there going octo core. AM3 will get DDR3 into AMD chipsets in febuary next year and by then prices of DDR3 will be down making it realistic to use. Remember AMDs main market is the mainstream not the hardcore gamer.
