  • I'm one of the few teens that love classical music... this is awesome :)

  • anybody find this because of "la corda d'oro" ??? (great musical anime) ^ ^ Just want to know if there someone like me ^ ^

  • @ChanapaPan same here (: i loved it

  • Love it to bits.

  • Very beautiful. She is a very soulful player.

  • wonder why she played it a whole tone higher? I thought it was the recording at first...but I looked at her fingers and she's actually playing it starting at g# anybody know of a different edition?

  • @Bumblebee7113 Orchestral version of the work is in this same tone. I find it better sounding this way.

  • Amen nebechadnezzar, the world has indeed bog standardised itself

  • oh.. it means love greeting?

  • @marby It doesn't take talent to recognize talent. If that were the case. 90% of the world would be talents, in the form of fans puring into youtube to watch awesome perfs. That includes you and me, and I am sure you are not a talent, yet...

  • @TalesIncs I just watched one of your videos, I can see that you are NOT talented either!

  • @marby That serves to emphasize the point. I can see that she's talented. But I am not talented, yet. Hence, your 1st point is nulled.

  • @TalesIncs first of all, my point was Sarah Chang is very talented, and then you come to INSULT ME saying that I am not talented?..Excuse me, do you know me?... Did I insult you first? ...Wow you are a BIG JERK! Why can't you just mind your own bussiness! I think you love to insult people because you are very insecure! like you said, you are NOT talented yourself! You are just a sad jealous insecure person who cant mind their own bussiness! You just love to attack other people!

  • @marby lol. Did I insult you? Im debunking your point that "it takes talent to recognize talent". I recognize she's a talent. How come Im not a talent? How come "you" are not a talent? May you elaborate?

  • @TalesIncs you DONT get it! I dont need to elaborate!

  • @marby Haha. Umad?

  • @marby You,sir,are ignorant.

  • @xKevinNguyen you maam are IGNORANT! Who are you to start something here? Your the ignorant one! Who are you to be even talking to me? Have I attacked you? Do i even know you?

  • @marby I understand now. im sorry.(: wont happen again.

  • 16 people are probably deaf.

btw that is such a cute dress on her.

oh and i love this song. first heard it on the adult swim game called "Victorian BMX: Death on Wheels"

  • isnt this song on titanic O.o

  • I love how her eyebrows go up from all that emotional playing! She's amazing!

  • Bravo!

  • Its quite amazing how the young Sarah Chang that we are watching here is mostly just playing without even looking and sometimes even seems to be playing with her eyes shut, as if in a dream or trance of pure pleasure. She was even at such a young age a pure Virtuoso Violinist and remains so. Sarah Chang is perhaps the finest female Violinist in the world.

  • fantastic!

  • @DiexSchwarzexGeige

I see you're drinking 1% ... is that because you think you're fat?

  • Semplicemente perfetto.....

  • is it bad if you sway back and foth while playing?

  • @FSGThunderclan :) Absolutely not. When a musician breaks through and moves past stage fright and concentration on the technical things like technique and skill, they become free to put in actual feelings in the music that they are playing, and that's how we get many different interpretations. Swaying back and forth is just a sign that they're really into it, it also shows on their facial expression. Hope this helps.

  • @FSGThunderclan it's ALL about a musicians style and it seems her style is such as that :)

  • @FSGThunderclan If you're doing it just to appear like you're professional/musical, it is a crime worse than playing forte in the pianissimo section. *ahem lang lang. If you are lost in the music and you are truly enjoying it, it will happen naturally whether you want it to or not.

  • Beautiful! I love her colors, touch, and emotion! It's just as if her bow were a paintbrush and our hearts the canvas.

  • lol sometimes i wish we still wore clothes like that………feel like a porcelain doll lol

  • FANTASTIC, PERFECT !

  • how old is she?

  • @youlahaha I think she was around 11 or 12 years at the time of this recording, but she's 30 now.

  • Her performances & albums of her young ages are really gorgeous through generations ever ~ and I still like her performances of today of course ~

  • One of my fav female violinist.

  • Fake -n OMGªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªººªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªºªº°º°º°º°ª°ºª°ª°º°°ª°ª°ª°º°ªº°ªº°º°°ªº°

  • what key is this in?

  • Classical music is just so beautiful, sometimes I just cant take it. It just mystifies me as to why this kind of music isn't more popular nowadays. This child at that time was worth a THOUSAND lady gaga's or katy perry's. Now sara chang is worth at least a million and most people where i live dont even know her. Have we all collectively just lowered our standards? If so, then im crying myself to sleep tonight.

  • @nebechadnezzar64 I don't think so.The world & it's music is changing all the time but thanks to us smart humans, we are able to recreate, imitate & record the old stuff so it lives on.Just because Gaga has millions of views, doesn't mean anything,if Elgar's stuff was constantly in the media it would have lots of views too.We still have absolute gems these days, & the older you are the more great stuff you got to see!! I for one, am thankful for youtube cos I never would have found out this piece

  • hey, that's a CHINrest NOT A CHEEKrest. although I love her playing very much! <3 I love it!!! =)))))

  • We're not likely to hear this deceptively simple piece performed better ever again than here, even by Ms. Chang herself.

  • Oh! just gorgeous!

  • An excellent performance overall, however, does our young violinist here really understand "Love's greeting?" A master like Kreisler can elicit the true emotions from this lovely piece from Elgar with his palpable charm and heaven sent tone.

  • I'm sure I've listened to this before, but still I'd just like to say that I think it was lovely. Really lovely, how wonderful to be so talented.

  • nice

  • WOW! fifty times better than I am, and she's only 10 playing this!

  • Treasured and cherished.

  • wow... Sarah Chang :)

  • Wonderful! Bravo!

  • This is really pretty; breathtaking!

I'm amazed at how she can play in tune while moving her body so much

  • so she was only 10 years old then... amazing...

I wonder what my child will be playing when 10

  • unreal

  • Sara Angel.

  • I am totally shocked by such mature and excellent violin technique performed by a ten-year-old only kid!!!

the most passionate Salute D'Amour that I have ever heard....

Even adult violinist may not play this pieces so smooth and comfortable....

  • this song makes me cry!!!! love it!!!!

  • She's a genius!Fantastic!

  • She's a genius!Fantastic!

  • Sara is such a young child here, and yet - so musically mature. And her sound is so beautiful. In on word, a genius.

  • Personally, I think the violinist moves too much. But she still plays great ^ ^

  • amazing!! :)

  • Could anyone comment on how difficult this piece is to play? How many years of lessons do you have to take at least to play this piece reasonably nicely?

  • I played this piece, it's not that hard though, but what makes it unique and sounds beautiful is on how you play it :)

  • @qqqquito

the technique is not very difficult, the only thing is, that it's sometimes very hard to find the best sound for every note.

  • Comment removed

  • @dga471 the fact that it doesn't have then thousand notes doesn't mean is not difficult , in fact to play this RIGHT is really hard , it is just another kind of difficulty

  • Comment removed

  • @dga471 what I meant , is that this is not EASIER than other pieces that maybe show off more , I just think that it's a different kind of dificulty , not about more or less

  • Comment removed

  • @dga471 I am playing this piece myself and the comlpex of this one is to show all the feelings...and that's what is REALLY complicated. You also have to play techniques that aren't easy. Maybe it doesn't look like but it is really hard to play ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @dga471 I think to show the love while playing is the hardest thing 'cause love is the has the most ways to be felt. That's what differences this one from other pieces and makes it this hard to play because there are so many sides of love in it. I didn't want to claim that you told it wasn't complicated I only wanted to tell that it's more complicated then it looks like ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @dga471 it's my experience that "playing" love is the hardest. The piece is more then just sloley romantic love, but I think to feel that you have to play it yourself. You could compare this to watching two lovers. You can feel their love to each other but if you are in love yourself, it's completely different. And I don't think that showing love in a peace does mean to play some different techniques, for me it does mean to feel it while playing. But i also think that's a matter of opinion.

  • brilliant.

now she's one of the most famous violinists of this century. she truly deserves this. imagine how hard she must have worked and what she had to sacrafice to be so talented and skilled at playing the violin. what a wonderdul performance.

  • Wheella, shame on you for what you wrote. What a jerk!

  • @wheella, why just once??? didn't you like it the first time??? didn't she ask for more???

  • I leant that song since I was 11

  • I didn't say he/she couldn't speak properly. I'm just saying, with all the slang and abreviations that go over the computer, its really rare to come across people who speak that way. As a matter of fact, its hard to come across people who speak that way ever. All I was sayin

  • she talks awesomely to me...

  • @aliceladylike, do you actually speak like that? If so do people get annoyed?

  • @xXJohnnymac16Xx I think she talks just fine, in terms of written language. Nobody would use "to be or not to be, that is the question" in a casual conversation. Are some of the great writers annoying pests that couldn't "speak properly"?

  • shes very good, but she looks like some doll in this ugly dress xD

  • @simpsonsfan49

very good? She's a genius! But she really does look a little bit like a doll...however it's cute

  • She is beautiful.... a woman who knows her violin well can dominate grace, elegance, and glory of such called perfection.

  • sweet, honest performance. really enjoy it...

  • which year?

  • My friend sent this to me. Just love it :x

  • I wish I was there!!!!! brilliant performance..

  • This is simply awsome!!!

  • Wonderfull Sarah Chang,I have just discovered you today, wow !! Always loved this piece by Elgar ,never played better, amazing for a young girl as you were then !!

  • shes an adult now

  • captivating

  • A beautiful melody played perfectly:*****

    Aurora

  • woah.. this kid sure is great! i love it. i wanna learn it too! gezz. =]

  • even shes young, so gooood

  • omg

  • ...this girl scares me

  • esprecioso no se como se puede tocar asi el violin en publico...

  • Beautiful performance, Sarah. Salut D'amour is one of my favorite violin solos and Elgar wrote it beautifully, too!

    Mark Prigoff

    Digital Jazz Productions

  • @drmidi2007 same here!:D

  • I'm pretty sure the real Sarah Chang is too busy playing her violin and doing other things to be busy posting comments on youtube videos of herself playing the violin.

  • But her twitter is quite active

    she responded to me once

  • @lucretius1 can't u recognize that's her??

  • its very odd to see her without her del guso, hehe

she plays very well although her young age there

  • love it!

  • whoa shez so young here.

    but stil good

  • cuanta precocidad !! una profecia cumplida

  • wow thanks for sharing! beautiful!!! she is soo young and cute here haha!

  • lovely. how old is she in this vid?

  • all of 10 years old! what's even more impressive is her playing the carmen in this same concert! it's absolutely flawless and amazing! look for it on youtube!

  • me encanta la manera como toca ,como se expresa ,con que sentimiento tocaa!!

  • Rieu's performances have no artistry at all. Period.

  • and you are simply so great ~*rolls eyes*

  • He doesn't need artistry. He went out and made millions.

  • how old is she here?

    omgosh!! lol

  • i wanna be like her! please let me be her! SHE HAS THE MASTER's TOUCH!!!!!

  • Die is ja total genial!!!!

SUPER geiler Ton und schöne präzision

  • i feel that in the beginning the violin and piano's not together.....but sarah's awesome, still!

  • Nitpicker

  • Elgar's first published effort mixes treacle and cheesy effects (those harmonics!). Nonetheless, Sarah Chang gives it the best possible reading imaginable. Chang's performance is believable because she believes, or rather she lives the music, playing with her eyes closed, communing with whatever god of romance she worshipped at age 11. Perhaps she was the right age for this piece. In any case, despite myself, while she plays, she makes me believer.

  • bravoo,bravoo,bravoo

  • one of my all-time favorite pieces

  • I think this piece is so sad; only because she plays it so unearthly, she is a piece of heaven...That's why I play violin :)

  • whoaH! cool eih?!

  • she's prettoer now...lol...jk you did a great job

  • wow!! amazing.. i think i'm in loved with her!! wew!

where can i find the music sheet of this piece??

  • if you just go to regular bookstores then they have them.. you can probably find them online for free though..

  • I can send it on your e -mail if you want. :)

  • piano a little too loud

  • i think it was perfect

  • Please don't get me wrong. I love love love her playing. I just wanted to hear more of her and a bit less of the piano. Both are much better than I could ever do.

  • well it's not the piano that's over-shadowing the violin, it's the violin's playing is too low. Listen to andre rieu and other musician's version of Salut and u will see. and Don't get me wrong either. i'm a piano player and i know what i talk about.

  • Ok you play the piano, and you might be good in it, i dont know. But comparing sugary violin entertainer Andre Rieu with a top classic violinist showes you dont know very much about violin playing. Not that Rieu cant play the violin at all, but thats like comparing udo jürgens with andras schiff, if that says something to you as a piano player.

  • yea, like comparing her and andre rieu...do u even have any idea who rieu is? sure i may not know everything in violin playing, but I have a good ear for music, if i say so. I know what i am hearing. don't be a total douche, i'm not comparing beethoven from mozart. it's chang and rieu. Rieu is a real maestro, deal with it.

  • Actually there is no point in arguing with you. I didnt think it was necessary to say that I studied the violin. Every serious violinist laughs about rieu... He has no sense for musical finesse. But your ear seems to know better, you're embarrassing yourself. Just like people in those ridiculous casting ("talent") shows

  • you're old enough yet you talk like a total ass. bravo. yeah right, serious violinist? u consider urself as one? LOL? ROFLMFAO? ROFLCOPTER? You think ur the most awesome violinist that your opinion is above others? look who's embarrassing who :) don't be a sore dick, i made my opinion, u trolled, i troll back. gimme ur best shot.

  • Me too. People say anything is perfect, but this might be an exception!!! She is an excellent violinist and this song is so beautiful.

  • Sorry, it was a reply to LiaCheri's first comment.

  • its not a song its a piece...

  • geez, u got some issues dude. r u on a man's period of some sort? get real fag, who really cares if it's called song or piece? oh, right. YOU. :) u seem to 'care' about every little thing, pointing out every detail, making urself look like a total gayass loser. Big L on your forehead

  • As I said: no point in arguing with somebody like you...

  • and as i said, a big L on your somewhat seemed gigantic forehead, 'maestro' losero.

  • sorry, I'm not an English speeker, and I make a lot of mistakes

  • I was astonished by the first note she plays

    So delicate and joyful

  • where can i find the music sheet of this piece?

  • how old is she?

  • i love love love love love Sarah Chang!!

  • sarah chang is amazing!

  • Nice!!! No out-of-tunes detected! Such a perfect piece of music... Wonderful!!

  • I think is cause cello has a more melancholyc sound thoug so maybe this piece needs something more bright,, ore maybe I dont know is just the register I think that in violin sounds a little bit more like flirting you know??

  • no codiciaras violines ajenos.... :(

  • No side comments, no criticisms.

all i can say is that "I ENJOYED HER MUSIC"

  • wats wrong wit playin too fast huh? shes the soloist so it would be her decision to choose the tempo ot this piece....what a complainer

  • This piece alone is reason enough to learn the violin, and it is worth all the effort even if you can play this piece only.

  • She plays this song very well,

and she can show her nice and fantastic violin skills.

Also, I need to study her skill because I have a performance few weeks later on this song!

  • that's sooo cute! soo young!

her expression while playing didn't change..

    aaahhh she's really good.. envy..........

    XD

  • I'm so jealous

  • i love this music

  • my favorite!!

  • Damn she was young XD

  • Comment removed

  • how... old??? she is amazingly good she expressed herself into the music !!!! :D

  • i love this piece!!i played this on my recital!!it just makes me cry!

  • the young sarah chang looks alot like my tita(auntie) nog
