The scenes with Barbera and Nana and Jim and Nana are touching and poignant. The scene at the hospital is incredibly emotional. What makes this series top class is it can have you crying with laughter one minute then crying with sadness the next. Just fantastic.,
For me personally Barabara (Sue Johnston) is the star of this episode. She is brilliant and such a nice person too! Definitely my favourite character!
i know the scene at 4 minutes with the mam and nan was so so well done, but i don't know if it was right for the show, but then the other side of me thinks it was done so so well. I am undecided. what I do know is the UK makes the most amazing TV, i do not know any other nation that leads the way in TV like the BRITS! Agreed????
If I stop watching at 5:43 and watch no more parts of this story, I'm not going to have to deal with a broken heart - but in doing so, I don't get to see some of the best TV ever made. I don't know what I want. Do I want the broken heart or don't I?
Very possibly the very best scenes ever from any episode. Jim and nana having a laugh, followed by nana and barbara having that conversation. A conversation no child ever wants to have with their parent. The agony and pain on barbara's face!
I couldn't stop laughing cos Jim and Nana were having a ball. Now I can't stop crying cos Nana holding baby Norma is just... Wow. I can't even pick a word that perfectly describes it. This is one of the best tv shows ever. :")

Fantastic writing. One minute its laugh out loud comedy, the next poignant, tear-inducing scenes. Credit to both scriptwriters and actors.

That's what makes British comedy great: The Royle Family, Only Fools and Horses, The Office - you can be crying one minute and laughing the next.
