My friend in Milwaukee has got possibly the best beater in the world. 1983 BMW 320 coupe. The speedo doesnt work, passenger door takes on average 3 tries to close it, fuel gauge is a quarter tank off the mark, looks like a piece of shit, etc, but the thing runs like gold and gets anywhere from 45 - 60 mpg. That thing is so fun to drive too; drives like a rally machine hahaha. He did fix it up a bit in terms of performance, but that was to fix it up so it could run period.
