  • this is the spirit of rock!...not the

  • first song is "London's Burning" (not "London Calling"). thanks for the video, brilliant performance.

  • @josephgetter Thanks for the correction, it's funny that nobody else noticed it :-) I corrected it

  • The most important band ever!!!

  • big mob of us from Stevenage went to this. all punks and skins. brilliant day out. R.I.P. Polly.

  • ROCK FOR IMMIGRATION Traitors .

  • Got the DVD Rude Boy and this was featured ------ Fucking punk at it's best

  • I've read the Clash had to re-record the sound for this performance for the movie "Rude Boy."

  • @willerror Yes, almost all vocals, and also some guitars are overdubbed. Listen to it with your headphones and you'll hear the obvious change in the sound quality. Or check White Riot - only Jimmy Pursey's vocals appear to be untouched :-)

  • @pittrek81

    "White" Riot? That's racist.

  • @TheMarkOfTheBeast1 Not sure if you're joking ...

  • @TheMarkOfTheBeast1 Oh, no. It means that white boys have to do as black boys do, to rise against the power of rich people and the capitalism.

  • @TheMarkOfTheBeast1 Its a song about The Clash taking part in a Jamaican riot in 1977, its about black people standing up for their rights.

“Black mans got a lot of problems, but they dont mind throwing a brick, white people go to school where they teach you how to be thick"

  • @TheMarkOfTheBeast1 no way is it racist, its about following the black man in at time which was the brixton riots, and stand up to the opprsession that the common man of any colour faces from those at the top, read the lyrics you'll get it :)

  • @TheMarkOfTheBeast1 you're a fucking idiot.

  • Bugger me, I was at this gig and it's only today (after a clip on a BBC4 show) I've found there's a ton of video of this day out.

To be honest, I can't remember that much about The Clash as I was pretty out of my box at the time. I remember Polly Vinly of X-Ray Spex, I remember Steel Pulse, and of course Tom Robinson who was ALWAYS at these sort of freebie-right-on events.

And now here I am a fat middle age bloke with grey hair.

Where the hell did all those years go?

  • @Mrwibblewobble I could have written the exact same words mate. Drove up from Dorset for that gig and got completely bollocksed. Poly Styrene was brilliant. i'm still in love with her! If you do ever figure out where all those years went - let me know.
