Let's see if other companies from greedy corporate america will step up and offer to support a town that needs help badly. More buildings than just one church need to be opened. I challenge any CEO to drive down to that town with me and walk around. There is hope there because all of those folks came from good stock. I know my grandparents, my parents and I walked there when I was a boy. So, which CEO wants to email me: patriziofam@comcast.net!!
@CoachCip - Also, Homestead had a little more money in it's pockets than Braddock to do something like the Waterfront. Braddock's too broke and too disconnected to do something like that. Besides, I'd rather see Braddock do something unique rather than put up a prefabricated retail development center for people from the south hills or Squirrel Hill to feed there fat asses at some high-end diners.
This mayor means what he says. He is for real, and he certainly has the education. What he has a tendency to do is a lot of self-promotion, which in itself sometimes helps Braddock. What I wish he would do is embrace capitialistic principles more. When you have a community in the shape Braddock is in, you need to do everything you can to package it up for commercial development. He doesn't spend much public energy on that at all.
Someone shared this on one of these video's (Levi's for Braddock) - "What about the union-busting efforts of Reagan and the passage of NAFTA in 1994? That enabled corporations to ship all their manufacturing overseas. I'm not so sure the middle class is to blame. " (I agree with him. We can thank Bill Clinton for the jobs given to CHINA, from what I heard....).
But, I would like to know if Levi's is going to open a store to make their products here too. That would employ a lot of people. :) I will check around and see (when I have the time) if their clothes are made in sweat shops or MADE IN THE USA. :) Looks like a good thing Levi's is doing; however, if they make their clothes in sweat shops - there would have to be another motive to doing this, that would bother me. Any1 know where their clothes are made? I do hope the BEST for this community.
Thank you Mayor Fetterman. What you are doing is appreciated beyond words and you have the support and admiration of countless people whose roots are in Braddock.
