It would be nice if you had played first Vox clean then Micro Cube clean, then Vox dist and Microcube dist, etc. It's easier to compare the products that way.
But yeah, I prefer Micro Cube. Much better distortions. Vox distortion sounds very boxy if you know what I mean. Micro Cube distortions have more variety. Vox had better cleans. I have a Micro Cube at home and it does its job well. I just would like to have something bigger.
they all sound bad once to adjust to tube or larger solid states.. but an amp like this is great when your looking to play at low levels, or to save wearing out your tubes. Amps like this really reveal your technique as well.. a good player can make one of these sound very good. It makes them great for practicing.
@TonyGognitti - they are both good, but I favour the Micro Cube for blues-based playing (see my demo) - I guess either of them would work well for most styles tho...
Great demo. Very nice playing to demonstrate the versatility of these 2 amps especially the various clean sounds of the vox and the overdriven sounds of the cube. you make them sound like a million $. Thank you & greetings from Australia :)
The Roland...Hands down. That Rectifier setting in a small amp like that. Intense!

Holy! that Micro Cube sounds huge in the recto dept.
The Vox had a better half gain tone for blues playin!
The Cube had nice FX and Classic Stack chord sound.

Thanks for this test !
I'm going to change the stock speaker of my VOX DA-5 by a 8 inch one
Micro cube got better stock speaker, even being smaller...
VOX missed this point, but i prefer it over the cube anyway :D

Both amps are the KINGS! I have Roland Cube 20X which I HATE -_-
I also have a VOX AD50VT Which I love...
So I have amps from both manufacturers!

Is the Da5 good at clean tones? I am interested in getting one but I am a little worried about the cleans distorting.
