Thanks for posting. Great Tune! Look out for Donna's new release called "He's Got The Power" on itunes the end of June 2010. The label is Saving Souls Thru Music Productions Inc. Her voice just keeps getting better, and better! God bless
@pannoni1 How about the following: Luther vandross, Randy Crawford, , Chaka Khan, Melisa Morgan, Alexander O'Neal, Teena Marie, Jocelyn Brown, Gwen Guthrie, Prince, Stephanie Mills, Patrice Rushen, Cheryl Lynn, to name but a few.
@maccagrabme Except for Prince and maybe Chaka, it is sad to see all these artists being neglected today. They are pure talent and they mean the world to me. Gwen, RIP.
@pannoni1 excuse me, but you're going to list the top 80s Soul Singers, at least have the decency to not characterize Whitney for what she did in the future!!!!!
This R&B track is another favorite of mine from her debut 1986 album (cd) "Perfect Timing", has a funky groove and bassline, with an excellent melody, and Donna's booming soulful vocals, outstanding 80's R&B from an outstanding 80's R&B singer!!
how did you come about this album? I suggested it to a Dj in Los Angles resently And Told him I had this album and he def'nt, would not be Disappointed.
Donna Allen performed this song on the very first NBC-TV "Showtime At The Apollo". I still have the VHS recording. The show opened up with "Serious". LL Cool J was the other guest artist. "SWEET SOMEBODY" was originally done by Shannon.
What? Donna did the Apollo? Can you post that performance? I would love to see that one!! I'm also trying to see who taped D'Atra Hicks on the Apollo.
Shannon's version is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay betta! Never knew she coverd this.

@musiclover3928 I totally agree. I had never heard of Donna Allen until I ran into her on Shannon's Post. But this isn't too bad.
