My family has a '98 Windstar and it is kind of mine now (because I am the only person who drives it under normal circumstances). It seems like once every couple of months it goes through a phase where it stalls out after a warm start. I think it's time to trade it in and get something new.
My aunt still has her 95 Windstar LX. It runs great and it currently has 180,000 miles. It only has some scratched paint on the front bumper but any thing else is in great shape. Maybe she´s lucky to have gotten a good product
Had a 2000 Ford Windstar that was the second worst vehicle we've owned. It had 32,000 miles and leaked, and leaked, and leaked some more. The steering rack failed and it had electrical glitches galore. The spring seats also rubbed against the strut towers and the back window motors never worked right. Ford denied everything and the dealer told me not to take it to a car wash. It finally burned to the ground because of an electrical problem. Ford couldn't make a decent minivan to save their butt
We had one of these, one of the worst cars we've ever driven. The transmission broke, the speedometer wasn't working, gas leaked, etc. '07 Sienna on the other hand, best car we've driven
i bought a 1995 ford windstar in aug 2006 for 2900 canadian, other than regular fluids changed and brakes, it still run very good,I guess I must be one of the lucky ones.
My family had a 95 windstar GL, good for about 10+ years then problem after problem, rebuild tranny, problems going in reverse (twice i think)and radiator problem, white smoke. So we had to give it away. :(
Let me start by saying that I have had good experience with Ford Windstars I have had 3 so far a 98 GL,01 Limited, now a 2000 LX. I lost my 01 to my x-wife otherwise I would still have it!
Have had no major problems to talk about!
As far the Honda Odyssey, it is top notch but lot more expensive to buy then a Windstar I have to admit that the Odyssey holds there value a lot better then the Windstar!
I have owned a 1994, 1996 and a 2001 Ford Windstar. The first 2 were leases and the last one I bought. Those were the best minivans and they all gave me no problems. The I owned the 2001 until this year which means it's 8 YEARS OLD and not one thing ever went wrong with it. All the electrical doors and everything else still worked like new. I also believe the Windstar is still the BEST LOOKING MINIVAN ON THE ROAD compared to the rest. But no offence to anyone that thinks otherwise...
One of the worst cars ever built!!! They have so many problems i couldnt even begin to explain them all. I had to take half the car apart to change the plugs, the cv joints are crap and they all get this weird electronic problem where they die in the road when you brake.
Yes, one of the worst Fords ever built lol! We had a Ford Windstar and it only lasted for five years. We traded it in for a Honda Odyssey. The Honda Odyssey is much more reliable then the Windstar. Our Odyssey is now eight years old and it still works. A Windstar couldn't last for eight years.
We've had ours for eight years. Stock everything. Only one thing has broken. Our last one we had for 5-6 years and it blew an engine because the place we got it serviced drained some of the coolant.
You are an idiot. These cars are very reliable and the only reason you have trouble is you don't take care of it. My family has owned two and they're great vans! Plus, the Odyssey and Sienna are expensive versions of a just-as-capable Ford Windstar.
We had one of these when they first came out. They were such junk. The damn thing was always in the shop. But we kept it from '95 to '04. We bought a much smaller car, and sent this rust bucket to the scrap heap.

Most cars are good for about 7 to 10 years top, before they aren't even worth keeping anymore. I just traded in my 99 sable for a ford fusion.
