lol i never knew another girl who played low brass. wow ur actualy taller than me by 4 in... im only 5' 1" lolz. and the Sousa is literaly as tall as me.

fiberglassSousaphones are for people who aren't strong enough to carry a real Sousaphone and they sound awful. i'm a girl Sousaphone player in my high school's marching band and i have a brass one. if i can carry a brass one then they sure can.

@griger1 well not always our highschool is just to cheap to buy brass ones and we may be clumsy and plan to shoot fire works out of them but thats another story.

i only think silver looks good on a tuba when its a Contra. But if its a Sousa, i think traditional brass is fine

Considering the recording quality and the fiberglass sousaphones, I don't think they sound bad at all. I'd take them in my marching band any day.

yeah, exactly. puffing your cheeks will kill you're tone. try hitting the low notes by opening up you're mouth, and not puffing you're cheeks. i can get down to an E pedel without puffing.

65lbs? I think your exaggerating a bit...My King sized Contra only weighs 45lbs and thats as big as they get.

If you have a Sousaphone it's probably somewhere more around the 25-30lb range but even thats pushing it

A sousaphone (one that isn't made out of fiberglass or whatever it is that these people were using) is going from anywhere to 45 to 50 pounds we weighed the sousa's at are school and the newer on is 50 compare to the others that are roughly around 40 to 45 pounds

Those are just my friends. I play flute. K accually plays Clarinet, she was just screwing around with the tuba, and B Originally plays Bari Sax..however she did play tuba for the whole football season (Because we only had ONE freshman playing tuba, so she and a couple others stepped up and learned to play tuba)!

I will get more vids of band...next year, Band is currently over with for now.
