Someone gave me a rusty old 1940 Stovebolt that last ran when it was parked 10 years ago... what is the bare minimum I need to do to get her cranked up? Make sure she turns over, clean out the gas tank, replace the oil, get a six volt battery, check the spark plugs, check for spark/fire, and hit her with some ether in the carb to get her to sputter to life Anything else I'm missing? I don't know the 216 at all.
@cobrachoppergirl I'd pop the plugs and squirt some Marvel Mystery Oil in each cylinder and let it soak for a bit. Other than that, it sounds like you've got all the bases covered. Depending on how long it's sat, it may bend pushrods on startup. If it does, pop the side access panel and remove/clean the lifters. The Stovebolts are pretty bulletproof and dead simple so it takes a lot to put them out of commission.
