  • Yes I can actually hear the pitches he intends, because his vibrato is not a whole-step wide! What a great day for music!

  • When did he sing this? It's wonderful! I too wish he would play Iago in the opera.

  • @witness124

also 'Son lo Spirito che nega' from Boito's Mefistofele, librettist of Otello ;)

  • If Bryn lands this role in Otello sign me up for 6th row center please!!!!

  • @grandeopera You'll sit beside me!!!

    ;)

  • bravissimo!

  • How about Scarpia in "Tosca" singing IN THE CHURCH NEXT TO THE CHOIR BOYS how is plans to kill Mario, Rape Tosca until she screams and then drops her for a new babe? This evil enough for ye?

  • Iago is the evilest caracter ever created i hope play it someday in theater it will be a dream come true, thank you Shakespeare, thank you Verdi, and thank you Terfel for this awsome performance

  • C'est et de loin le meilleur Iago que j'ai entendu et de loin !!!!! et aussi le meilleur comédien !!

Et, je suis une vieille dame qui a appris l'art lyrique et dramatique dans sa jeunesse

  • Excellent performance, very good diction and intense feeling. Great Terfel:)))

  • Every word is perfectly understandable....... amazing........ great......

  • Correct,sans plus.Départ anticipé,à la fin:Pas très professionnel de nos jours...

  • Incredible performance! This is Iago, this is a monologue, a real shakespeare monologue!

  • @witness124 he does not say heaven is a lie. He calls it "an old wive's tale," which is so much more sinister and condescending. >]

  • I have some recordings where he doesn't sound as healthy as this. This is great.

  • Great performance! Why he is not singing this role in opera??? This is one of the best I ever heard... And his dramatic acting abilities... why???

  • @pudercukurs Because he wouldn't survive the performances. Jago is a very, very heavy sing and not really his repertoire, even though he sings this aria quite well.

  • @pudercukurs I total agree...He definitely has the pipes for the whole role

  • @witness124 @witness124 Try Hagen's call to arms... "Hoi-ho" from Götterdämmerung. There's no badass in opera worse than Hagen:

  • He is absolutely incredible..The most beautiful voice and the star of all time.

  • For all of you who think this is good stuff, it must be the first time you've heard the piece. He is all wrong for Verdi.

  • @rovingdesertfox Give me som examples of some great Verdi baritones please:)

  • @Metalface123 Gladly: Sherrill Milnes, Leonard Warren, Dmitri Hvorostovsky,

    Justino Diaz,, Cappuccilli, Bastiannini.

  • @rovingdesertfox Don't forget Cornell McNeil!

  • @rovingdesertfox YOU don't get it, Mr. expert...

  • @mariusfelix And what exactly don't I get? That this guy is no Iago? Right. And you are going to tell me why he is.....I'm all ears.

  • This is as good as it gets.

  • the voice is very rich ,very nice

  • Wonderful Terfel! Bravissimo!

  • This is what Callas called "drama through voice"! Great!

  • Projects a truly great sense of drama and tension!

  • It's scary how good this diction is.
