I actually think he's talking about Jesus. When I first heard this song, I assumed it was. His love sincere, unknown. Discovered Jesus. And second verse he would be saying that Jesus' love will take him out of this world. End of the life we once knew (in sin, without Jesus) and birth of a love so true, Bible says God's love is the only perfect love. All makes sense to me.

i think the actual lyrics are we're gonna break off. not break up. i don't necessarily understand what he means by that but it makes more sense than talking about breaking up in a song about someone he is still with. maybe they're gonna break off from the rest of the world? i don't know. songs can be interpreted in many ways.
