I have been thinking of the part where Ennis starts hitting the wall... what do you think happend or went through his mind at that point?

He was thinking of what he should have said.,except hell, there was no place for Jack in his life. Jack made him feel things and Ennis wasn't a man who was used to letting himself feel things. He just went along to get along. Jack changed all that and Ennis was feeling more then he knew how to deal with. Physical pain he could deal with ...it was better to concentrate on the pain he was inflicting on his hands then to think about Jack riding out of his life.

My husband was hoping Ennis would tell Alma Jr. about his relationship with Jack at the end of the movie. They seemed to have a close enough relationship, she would have understood.

Alma knew, she saw it b ut she didn't understand it. All she saw was that she was excluded and that she couldn't compete with something she couldn't understand.

Alma was his rebound. How could he ever explain that in a way that woudn't hurt her?
