  • Cool guitar man, nice playing.

    *Check my Blackout Tele demo.

  • Very nice sound from the black outs. Are you using two blackouts. If so how did your sound do a 180. It went froma fender sound to a demarzio sound.

  • @Guitarstring187 This guitar has the EMG RPC pot. It basically makes a humbucker sound like a single coil and everything in between. Handy little pot.

  • DUDE! That run starting at 2:41 was fucking AWESOME!!!

  • Nice tones and finally something other than chug. Thanks for posting. Looks cool all black as well.

  • A telecaster with blackouts i thought i had seen everything! It sounds great!

  • It would be better with some P90s in it.

  • @tothatextent I agree! I just do what the clients want me to do

  • @kulverse Oh you make them. I want the same thing with P90s - the shitty looking chrome ones. I like the vintage look. How much approx. do you figure?

  • @tothatextent I'm actually closing shop for the summer, but I can do a parts build for around $600-$900 depending on various things. From-scratch builds are obviously a lot higher in price ;)

  • killswitch! yes can you tell me how you installed that thing...i want it so bad...

  • @JUMBOpin Just connect the input lead to one lug of the switch and then out to the middle volume lug. Then ground the other lug of the switch. This grounds your signal out with very little "pop"

  • thats one horrible pickguard

  • Hey thanks for the awesome comment. That's a standard, average every day Tele Deluxe pickguard.

  • @kulverse i still dont like it <_<

  • @sify11 Not a problem. Completely irrelevant to the purpose of the video though

  • Mud...mud...and more mud. These are METAL p/us

  • OK. Good to know

  • Nice jam man! What are you playing through for an amp/effects (if any)?

  • Just a couple GarageBand presets

  • 2:40

    smooth and fitting as fuck

  • Nice to see someone rocking the telecaster. Would never have thought to see Duncan Blackouts in one.

  • u r amazing!!!!!! dude!!!!!! i wish i could play like that...i need to learn more styles of playing besides metal, i dont know where to start or who to look up, i just seymour duncan blackouts put in my guitar within the last week

  • sick playing man...sounds great

  • what guitar is that and ur tone sounds amazing love the clean im trying to figuire out if its the blackouts that give that rich amazing clean or ur guitar/amp can u help me im looking forward to my own pair of blackouts in a shecter hellraiser avenger and can u tell me what the difference is between AHB 1 AHB 2 and AHB 3

  • i never thought active pickups could get such nice clean tones. i tried out a guitar with emgs and they sounded like my cat having a hairball and taking a dump at the same time. you get the picture they sounded terrible. i personally wont buy any pickups besides by duncans and dimarzios. those are the 2 greatest pickup companies of all time. as for which ones i usually choose it depends on the wood. if its alder or ash dimarzio. if its mahogany or maple usually the duncans. its all preference :)

  • I play an EMG81 and it sounds great clean.

  • Yeah. I hate the EMG 81, but the rest are good. I have a set of SA's on one of my personal Strats

  • see heres what im havin trouble with i have a mahogany body guitar n i wana get the blackouts now im thinkin how will it sound on it

  • Wow u played the hell out of that guitar! What are your amp settings?

  • how much was that guitar cause i want a j5 one and put a black pick gaurd on it and i was wondering if u could put a wammy on it by changeing that bridge

  • Very, very nice. Smooth tone with a ton of clarity.

    Very tasty licks, too!

    What amp are you using?

  • Thanks! I think i was just plugged directly GarageBand

  • Hey great review !

I really love these pickups on my baby bay ;-)

  • these might be the blackouts normal model as they actually have a full nice clean tone. the blackout metals demos seem to have a grainy thinner clean tone and sounded their best for full on metal. id be really surprised if the set in this tele are the metal versions.

  • Correct. These are not the metal version.

  • i wonder why you puted pickups like the blackout for playing blues . . . they are way better in metal and brutal sound

  • Puted? Yeah... the client wanted a demo of various styles besides metal. This is not my guitar. Anyway, i figured it did the bluesy thing well. I didn't do any metal (which is my main form of music), because it didn't show the dynamics of the pickup.

  • those r black outs? im buyin new pickups today i need to decide between blackouts and alcino pros

  • blackouts

  • great player !!!

  • Led Zeppelin influenced?

  • Not really. i mean they are an influence, but not in my guitar style. I just never know what to play when doing these client demo's.. haha

  • wow dude.

  • is that a squier tele cusom with changed neck ?

  • damn bro that was Smooth..some good playing an your guitar sounds great

  • damn fucking nice

  • man this guitar kicks so much ass.

    Tonal versatility beyond.

  • lovely guitar playing

  • I'm the owner of this guitar and I've just put it on ebay.

  • Sounds great!

  • Go Mr Mason! :)

  • Seriously impressed with the tonal variety of that particular guitar/pickup combination and I've always thought that a killswitch + toggle set-up would be quite awesome.

    Very nice :)

  • are u jimi ? no seriously you rock. ^^

  • aah sounds much better with the blackouts

  • that string of licks around 0:25 was SICK dude

  • damn that improv just funked me up.

  • awesome sound!

one question: did you have to install a battery pack on your guitar's body for the seymour duncans? cheers!

  • Logically you wouldn't need to.

Just wrap the battery with some foam so it doesn't ground stuff out and you should be fine.

  • True, but the client did want a battery box... which i gave him :)

  • Fucking fantastic tone!

  • Thats one of the best customised instruments I have ever seen. Its industrial-country and looks like it plays like buttah!

  • you just made my jb and invader feel inadequite

  • The Blackout Telecaster Deluxe= My favorite guitar.

  • dude im getting that guitar soon from musicians friend!!

  • Is it the Squier? They are nice stock actually. The only thing left original to this one is the body though. Everything else was replaced

  • dude you shred

  • thats effing smooth as oil man. I ordered a squier tele custom a few days ago, can't wait to get it. Not in the same class as yours but it'll do.

  • What amplifier are you playing through? I think its a tube but im not sure.

  • It's actually direct to my Mac through GarageBand's built in "amps"

  • Oh, Well thats ok Mac's have good emulation software.

  • they sound sweeet i hope the 7 string versions i ordered are just as good

  • Wow Dude sounds like the Blackouts are pretty good! but one question though! emgs or blackouts?

  • I definitely would vote for the Blackout's in any case. I have installed plenty of EMG systems for people and the Blackouts just have a bit more personality to them.

This video shows the versatility of them, but I would use them for my metal band no problem as well.

  • seems like they clean up really well

  • Wow it's really twangy with clean and overdrive...I like those pickups.

  • theyre EMG pickups, probably 81/85's you can buy em for about 125$ in music related place but it'll probably cost around 30 to 40$ to install em unlss you do it urself

  • oh, my bad, therye dncan blackouts, thought thy were EMG

  • impressive my friend. and i thought i could play good

  • fuck! nice solo dude!

    rock n roll

  • nice playin man

  • sir you can play.. and those pups kick ass

    peace

  • Cool sound,on what amp are you playing?

  • jeez, i was actually looking into getting blackouts recently and went for invaders instead. totally a mistake, i've heard the heavy leads these things can do in toher vids, and your video showed the beautiful cleans it can pull off, along with nice distortion. those things are sweet, and you're a really good guitarist man, very good.

  • Thanks man! I have since got a blackout for the bridge position in my own Strat and the Gilmour EMG SA's for mid and neck with the Gilmour electronics. It really sounds great with all styles.

  • Wow. nice.

  • cool tone my friend

  • amazing playing amazing sound

  • Beautiful playing, sir.

  • I was going to ask if it were a Schecter Fastback but i loked at the title right ater lol/

  • This shit's amazing!

  • I accidently "removed" a comment that asked me why i bought $180 pickups to play this gay shit. Well, I didn't the client who bought the guitar did and I have no idea what kind of music he is playing with it. However, i was asked to show the versatility of the guitar with video. Slopping tons of gain and playing chugga chugga doesn't really achieve that now does it?

  • LOL, I can't believe someone would describe it as "gay shit". Awesome guitar BTW.

  • im thinking about doing this to my fender tele custom. my main concern is the pickguard. did you make the pick guard? or is there a place where they sell it like that?

  • That's just a standard Tele Custom pickguard.

  • Real nice sound man, real nice. seems the Blackouts are pretty versatile!

  • That would not be a Manson guitar i have a almost identicle guitar same pickguard and brand he jsut added things into it that is a Fender Telecaster Custom

  • Mason, not Manson. I have nothing to do with Manson guitars. The body is the only thing Fender.

  • what a waste, chicken pickin with blackouts, some shoot this nig.

  • Thanks man :)

  • asianaxeman, choke on a dick. It sounded good.

  • I approved his comment anyway. He obviously has issues.

  • hah, that's funny. issues...

Are Blackouts decisively better than EMGs, would you say (for metal/distortion)?

  • Not an EMG fan really. I play high gain tech-metal mostly, and When I used this guitar with high gain it really sung well. Had it's own personality. I did not tune down this one before I sent it off to the owner, so I can't say how well it handles the low tunings. My guess is it does well. These pickups are bight as hell though.

My suggestion for high gain applications are BG Hellabuckers. best high gain P'ups IMO.

  • I just checked out Hellabuckers, and never would have known about them otherwise. I might just buy some, thanks.

  • @hynwonder not it sounds like crap.

  • where's the pickup switch?

  • It's a rotary switch right under the master volume. Top row is master Volume, master Tone. Bottom row is P'up selector, EMG RCP

  • did you customize it?

  • Is that clean im gettin a set just wondering because i heard they already add gain?

  • Nope. Had a bit of dirt on it. They do clean, but will push an amp a bit more than passives will. Tubes will break up quicker

  • these pickups sound really really good

  • good playing its nice to see someone other than like a metal guitarist utilize these pickups for other types of music likes blues

  • great job on the hot rod project!

    (it's me book_of_lies777 from HC)
