the r6 is in my opinion the nicest looking supersport bike out there. i own the red and white model...the only worry when buying it was the seat height-- 33inch or so and myself only being 5ft 8" thought i would struggle, but i soon got used to it and it isnt an issue...i just love it and cant wait to be out on it this weekend.

The R6 is also more forgiving than the R1. The only thing I didn't like about the R6 was the hunting for gears. @Rusty411 you should close you're mouth before jumping the gun, go ride you're bmx to work now run along.

only problem I'd imagine going with a 250 is highway speeds from what I hear, but supposedly the ninja 250r is a solid performer on highways. Plus the dirtbike is geared differently so maybe you'd need a 600 just to stay out of your own way

@Fight2Survive was that the first bike he went on? my point is that of common sense- if you learn on a small lightweight bike, then you feel more confident in the corners and general handling and manouvering- compared to if you say take a direct access course (in the uk) i think its a 500cc, you will feel generally more cautious of the machine as its a hefty piece of kit and is capable of ridiculous speeds, this weariness of the bike can stay with you forever, obv nt in all cases though
