  • hmm. I like you.

  • I see you posted this a little over a year ago. Have you changed your mind about this particular health care bill? Just in recent weeks, you can see that premiums will sky rocket (they said it wouldn't). Its not that people don't want health care reform, it's that this bill is tremendously flawed. Canada and the UK are denouncing it just as we are making it law. Not too smart on our part. It works for some smaller European countries partly due to their population size. Loved you on Conan!

  • Congrats on the health care bill passing, Charlyne!

  • lol stupid americans, the whole western world has free healthcare. and if you still want private health insurance, you can still have both. the whole world makes fun of you because you dont have public healthcare. its beond rediculas that america dosent have free healthcare. you pay double per person than what other rich countries spend. and you dont cover everyone.

  • i would like to say one thing due to the illogical comment i just got. no, insurance is not a right. you may wish it was, i also wouldnt mind having a right to free massage therapy, thing is, i do not. the new healthcare plan is by definition unconstitutional, if not, we would have it by now, because it really would be a right

  • To me Universal Health Insurance means we have been screwd again by having to provide for those who refuse to provide for themselves.

  • @jerdeb4evr

Of course. It's the liberal way of thinking. They would rather have handouts and not take responsibility for themselves. Those who actually are responsible for their own lives, end up footing the bill for the freeloaders. We not have a presidential administration that is more than happy to give our money to others. I already have about 1/4 of my paycheck taken out in taxes every month.

  • Truth be known the taxes are probably more than one fourth. If one tallies in the secondary taxes, such as, registration fees, license fees, luxury taxes, Gasoline, property, municipal bonds etc. etc. I am sure the fiqure is well over 50%. Extensive Government studies have been done to identify our breaking point. Rather than adopting policies that make government more efficient, they will only consider how to get more of our money

  • @jerdeb4evr

    Not so fast.

People who lose their jobs also lose their coverage.

Children are born with medical conditions, sometimes through no fault of their own.

It does not take a rocket scientist that just having a job does not mean you get good health coverage.

There are certain people who cannot provide for themselves. Some are even veteranms from war with no limbs.

So your consensus is way overgeneralized. Many people want Insurance but they are denied.

  • I am 20 years old. For the past two years I was raising my brother and my sister, working 2 jobs to help my unemployed father. I could not afford insurance at the job that actually supplied healthcare, and the other did not offer healthcare. My brother and sister were fine with insurance after nan passed they were covered til 18. Me not so lucky. Long story short, I got really sick, went to a doctor, am still dealing with bills, couldn't afford another doctor, lost my job. Universal healthcare.

  • you know i dont want to be the only hater or whatever, cause im not, but i dont have health insurance, but i dont feel entitled to it. i am 19 years old, living along, and i believe that health insurance is a luxery i will have after i can afford it, along with many other things. IT seems to me that insurance companys (even though theyre the devil) have a right to run their own business as they see fit

  • @Gendus1 you are fucking retarded!!!! Nobody is entitled to anything! When the government gives something to someone, it has to steal it from someone else. The process of stealing from the many makes them more powerful and contributes to our enslavement!!! Thanks for supporting slavery dipshit!!!!

  • @Quiksilver209

Ok nobody is entitled to anything? Would you say you are entitled to police, fire, and public education?

Answer the question: YES or No

I don't care about your rhetoric or opinions, I want to know what your answer is.

  • Insurance is not a right. Being responsible is a responsibility. If you dont have insurance, I am sure if you get rid of the computer you are on and quit paying the extra to go online and the electricity you use and some of the other luxuries you have, suchy as a cell phone etc, you could have insurance. When people complain about Luxuries and then they sit on a computer so they can yack and complain, doesnt get my sympathy. Good luck

  • @democratichypocrit what about those countless people who can actually afford the ridiculous prices for healthcare? The ones who have pre-existing sicknesses? The ones with cancer, diabetes, etc etc? The ones who actually require the services the healthcare companies provide? The ones who have been turned down, time and time again, by these immoral companies because they cost money. The people who work hard and have preexisting conditions often are screwed over by these companies.

  • @democratichypocrit

You are partially correct. It is true we Americans must budget our expenses better, but I certainly don't want health insurance companies to get rich on my behalf.

So I invest in precious metals as a hedge against the rising costs of health insurance.

    You should too.

Take your Nextel, answering machine, and your Wii and throw it in the trash.

Start buying things that will make you profit--not those greedy health insurance scum.

  • I am 24 years, have two degrees, can't find a job for some time now, and I haven't had health insurance for quite some time now. God forbid something actually happens to me, and then what?

I've come to realize a lot of college students and people around my age do not have any form of insurance. And its probably the most likely time frame when people get into accidents (due to 'careless' lifestyles).

Blah,... things need to seriously change.

  • Many people have 2 cars, kids have cell phones, TVs & Stereos, not to mention 16yr olds with cars. They live n houses they cant pay 4. The govt just gave GM, chrysler & AIG Trillions. Not to mention po folks money to get their TVS swapped from Analog to Digital. Your govt considers TV more important than HC. A govt that thinks like that, I definately dont want them n charge of my health care. Anything that will cost me a penny by the govt will not get my support. I got mine, get yours.

  • Everybody deserves affordable health care with public option.

    "You go girl."

  • @Quiksilver209 fuck yourself in the ass

  • Well said.

  • I LOVE YOU GIRL YOURE SO AWESOME!

  • i'm taken care of due to genetics for the most part. i 'worry' about my family as well- especially my grandfather.

  • I'm so fortunate I don't have to worry about health care, I live in the UK. I have enough to worry about. I just wish US senates, congress will put aside their special interest and differences and work together to provide health care for their people.

  • Health care reform is long overdue. It's so important to have affordable health care. For those who don't understand, example public and private school. Public-it's there if you need it, preventive care, routine check ups. which in turn will save money and lives.

  • Rock on keep fighting the good fight.

  • Fuck off

  • Life is strange, not until it happens to you or someone you care for, then maybe you will become aware of the urgency of Health care reform. With the economical problem, hundreds & thousands of people lost their jobs, homes, health care. Deficit? but yet tax payers money were used to bail out big companies. Who in turn jacked up credit card interest. It's time to do something for the people - Health care reform .

  • Fine. You shouldn't be forced into any optio- OH! Do you see this? its a "Public OPTION"

So you can go without if you want. The rest of us would like some affordable healthcare someday. Not everyone in America will become rich with age in order to keep up with private insurers rate hikes. So you seee something HAS to give

  • Its not done. What part of NOT A LAW YET do you not understand?

The better House bills only speak of "mandatory" in the work place. IE they need to get a plan of some sort from either private insurers or the public plan so that their employees can have some coverage (If they don't have some on their own) You see its a plan to try and get everyone covered. Understand yet?

Now the Bauccus bill is a lot less friendly, but its not done with either, so don't get me started

  • the news makes it look like nobody wants health care which is wrong,, goverment run health care is alright for some but not for me. ....i'd like to decide if i want the same health coverage many americans already have thank you

  • Socialist, Capitalist, Democrat, Republican, White, Black, etc. We all have our differences, issues, but we have to go beyond it. We are talking about people's lives. To care for one another, strangers or friends will benefit all of us morally and spirtually. Health care reform, preventive care. It's really a small price to pay for someone's life.

  • You're right, charlyne.

As for my opinion - American's have been brainwashed into thinking that universal health care is a bad idea - it's not. Last time I checked, I didn't have to pay hundreds of dollars for an ER visit, I can use any hospital at anytime, and don't have to call the insurance company for every little thing. Your system is horrible, and it's time you guys oined the rest of the world. For being the "land of the free", there ure are a lot of price tags attached.

  • You're absolutely right "GoEnglandFromCanada." I think people are afraid of change. It's simple, Universal health care with help people, save lives. Preventive care- routine check up which will be available for everyone.

  • It's a small price to pay for the good of the many - Health Care for everyone. The need of the many out weighs the greed of one. It's time that people learn to care for each other.

The advantages of Health care for everyone out weighs the disadvantages.

  • I can relate to how you feel for sure. Check out my video. I wish Congress would see it, and then explain to me what im supposed to do when I have done all they asked. keep fighting

  • you go girl!

The health care debate is a debate about what is moral and just. If someone is suffering from an illness they could get treatment for, but can't pay for it, who the hell has a right to deny that to them? We're talking about people's lives here.

  • ...am i a bad person if i like hillary??

i llove obamers buttttt not doing what he's supossed to.

    hehe obamers...

  • i love you charlyne.

    i completely agree with you.

  • So in reading your info in the sidebar, you write that "IF YOU CARE, tell Congress to Support Obama's Health Reform".

After going through the horrible health care bill of Obama, I've decided to not support it. So does that mean I DON'T CARE?

  • Does it mean that you don't care? Well, you don't care about the same things I. Also, I don't understand how or why you call it "horrible health care bill of Obama".

Do what you want. I'm not here to fight you.

  • Did you read all 1,018 pages? Doubt it. Where are you getting your information? "Wont add a dime to the deficit and is paid for upfront. The Presidents plan will not add one dime to the deficit today or in the future and is paid for in a fiscally responsible way. It begins the process of reforming the health care system so that we can further curb health care cost growth over the long term, and invests in quality improvements, consumer protections, prevention, and premium assistance."

  • Continuation: " The plan fully pays for this investment through health system savings and new revenue including a fee on insurance companies that sell very expensive plans. -- Requires additional cuts if savings are not realized. Under the plan, if the savings promised at the time of enactment dont materialize, the President will be required to put forth additional savings to ensure that the plan does not add to the deficit."

  • We cannot afford to spend it on health care, but we could sure use it to bailout big companies and yeah use it on stupid, nonsense wars. Or yet use it to help other countries. Where is your logic?

  • Where is your evidence that this health care will not work for the people? Where is your evidence in anything that you're saying. I think you just want to argue. Now go have sex you'll feel better!

  • You're are one of those people who have no life and always looking for shit. President Obama is a good president. His concerns are for the well being of the people. Of course. you're too ignorant to know that. If you don't support his plan, that's your choice, your freedom to chose. Everybody has freedom to chose what's best for them. Hopefully everyone will make a wise decision.

  • Other countries, Europe provides health care for their people. The USA could do the same for their people. You will have a choice either private or public health care. Instead of arguing, do your own research.

  • Yes, yes, I love Obama.

Good night and good bye "candidskeptic."

    Peace out.

  • I loled.

You're the one person on here not being blind and you're getting thumbs down. :(

and now you got this weirdo just making up shit and arguing about completely unrelated things

  • So wrong, we've been facing it for decades, and its time we did something about it.

It will also help the economy get going again.

  • youtube com /watch?v=bauPmy3gSjs&feature=channel_page

  • You aren't taking just how much we're paying for it now. I understand the worry, but its being taken care of. If we did nothing Medicare would go insolvant in less than ten years, and Social Security would soon follow. People like these programs, and all Bush could think of was some voucher system to replace it. Complete crap.

  • You aren't figuring in the fact we are paying about that now. And again, the Bills have yet to be joined. This, in theory and promise, is going to controle costs and not add to the deficit (Which will be tamed in about 10 to 12 years depending on the recession) And on top of it all help to enable "main street" to afford a better life and this will, of course, help to move the economy.

Oh, and and we'll have affordable healthcare. Sweet deal if you could get your head out of your ass

  • Obama's a Democrat, and congress has enough Democrats to pass anything they want. So is there any real chance that Universal Healthcare won't pass?

  • Well I was shocked that prop 8 passed. It's bad to assume that things will just figure themselves out. Takes effort. Every person counts.

  • You forget that Democrats are collectively spineless. We're too busy trying to make everyone happy to actually get something useful to pass. As I said before, Obama went in with a compromised healthcare plan before anything was even discussed, which is the wrong way to do anything. No matter what is passed, we're not going to be much better off than we are right now, so yes, there's a very real chance for Democrats to screw this up.

  • There's no "Super Majority" for the democrats because the industry has money ties to all politicians, even Obama, so there's a rift between them. "Blue Dogs" or conservative Democrats Vs. the progressives who put their voters first

Just who will take their marching orders from the industry and who will listen to their constituencies is where the real tension is in all this. Universal Healthcare without the public option is half assed reform, because its all there is to controle costs

  • I really think America should try to adopt the way Canadian health care works. I broke my index finger very badly, and went to the hospital right away. I had surgery done where they put metal pins in my finger to hold the bone together, had a fiberglass cast, and went through a couple months of physiotherapy.

All in all, I paid about $10.00, and that was for the pain killers. If I was living in the States, I wouldn't have been able to afford to get it fixed properly.

  • I'm from Scotland so I am very fortunate to have the national health service :)

  • Thanks Charlyne for your views, people have to start reading things and find out information first and not just believe the mass marketing that the "two"sides like to put out... Boomers like to keep people fighting and not talking

  • Good video.

  • Tax payers money are used for public schools, libraries, law enforcement, fire departments, wars, mega companies bailout, welfares, etc. Why not use it for Health care too? Health care for everyone.

By the way, thanks for caring Charlyne.

  • Watch Sicko - Michael Moore.

What do you honestly think the Government do with the Tax Payers' money? We don't have control of it. During this time of economical hardship it was used to bailout mega companies. Not a cent used for the people. People every where lost their jobs and homes. Who bailed them out.? Obama's Health care will serve the people.

  • Health Care reform will be good for the people. Like someone mentioned as an example, it's like private or public schools. If you could afford private school it's there and for other's who can't it, public school is available. You have a choice public or private health care.

  • I might as well use my money, tax payers money to pay for Universal Health Care which will take care of PEOPLE than to use it on nonsense wars and mega businesses bailouts.

  • I have friends in CA that are self employed they could barely afford health insurance. Lately their business is very slow and they can't afford to continue paying their health insurance. People should have choices, universal or private. It's time for a change, change is good.

  • One stupid thing about the current system is there's no database of health records. Every time you to the doctor you fill out a form with your entire medical history. This is so primitive! If there was an electronic database there would be much less malpractice and lower costs.

Also because health care is so expensive, people have to take crappy jobs just to stay covered. That's definitely not good for the economy.

  • Well, it's nice to have both on computer and a tangible sort of record in case computers are not functioning, which often there are several mishaps with databases.

  • No, your medical record is stored electronically also.

"Health care is so expensive, people have to take crappy jobs" ...wat? Are you saying a crappy job is still enough? Doesn't seem to support your argument. Health care isn't that expensive. and if you can't afford it, chances are you qualify for SEVERAL government aid programs that are -already- in place.

You know. programs paid for by using other people's money to support you.

  • Medical records ARE stored electronically.

  • I Love you Charlyne Yi cause your the best ! Charlyne Yi is so rad and I don't even know her, she's madly talented. I love watching your vlogs! I totally agree I don't want to have to worry about my family either, it's time constraining and frankly excruciatingly annoying. Eff em.

  • Health Insurance is going to hurt us poor me rather than help us.

  • ok, unless all you listen to is fox news or some other conservative media you would know that this service will not hurt you in any way...it's universal, all the hospitals all the doctors there are right now will be available to you, well except for private practice...the point is, for us poor it's the best plan, and yeah it'll prolly suck at the beginning because things will take a while to get organized but in the end, once it's up and running, it's the best system

  • Tell that to the people that have to wait in long lines for surgeries in other countries. Imagine George Bush running your health care system. That doesn't scare you? The quality of everything declines once it's been socialized. There's no reason to specialize anymore. It's been demonstrated in every communist country ever and all the large countries that have universal health care.

  • The government is not going to run hospitals. They're proposing a government funded insurance plans, similar to medicare.

I'm done. I hope your mom never needs to use the ER only to be in a 5 hour wait due to uninsured patients flooding it.

  • Correct, the government won't run hospitals, but how do you think hospitals make money? And where will that money come from with universal health care?...

P.s. My mom was smart enough to get a job and pay for health insurance. So she won't have that issue. I don't have health insurance, and I'm still against it. It's just that bad. Go talk to some doctors about it. I've talked to one out of 6-7 that was for gov health care, and he was a general practioner anyway.

  • Even with Health Insurance, Cancer patients are not covered. Watch the movie Sicko-Michael Moore.

  • Move to canada and get canadian citizenship ;p We have better healthcare then the states.

  • Oh! You nasty little boy! Stop that!

  • i live in canada and I sometimes wish we had private healthcare. people abuse the system so much so that our emergs are full of all types of people. those with broken arms wait in rooms with stroke victims, victims of violence and people with common colds. and you're still looking at at least a 5 hr wait. i guess the point is, that we still have an option...

  • Yeah my friends from Canada told me about that. It's such an unbalanced system. Wish there was a balance between private healthcare and universal. There's flaws in both systems.

  • Obama as already screwed up the health "reform". Our best option was thrown out the window the moment he got started, and now we're going to be left with some joke of a "reform" that's really not much different than how it is in the first place. Yay change?

  • Healthcare should be the most basic human right. Tax payers pay for government run schools, why can't we have an option to pay for health care for all citizens? I'm willing to pay more in taxes if I'll receive health care.

I' 26, on my own, racked up with medical bills because I'm uninsured and my job doesn't offer insurance. How can people tell me to grow a spine when hospitals and insurance companies make it so unaffordable for most Americans.

  • Of course, because you don't have it. You have nothing to lose. It screws over people that already have healthcare though. which is the HUGE majority of americans... like 97% or something

  • Uh, what? It's not even remotely -close- to 97%. Besides, more people lose by a greater amount from the health care system we have now than the people who do have healthcare will lose by reforming healthcare.

  • i do not think that 97% of Americans have health care, go to the ghettos/barrios/slums of America and you'll find no one has health care there. Hell I'm considered middle class and half my family is middle class but id guess only about half of us have health care. The bottom line is its to expensive and if you have it its very limited on what it actually covers. reform for all is needed.

  • We can have both, private and public, just like school systems (hate to use this example again) If you can afford it, take advantage of it. How does it screw people with private healthcare? Obama has said that if you like your health care plan you can keep it.

All we have to lose is our lives and the lives of people we care about.... People eventually end up in emergency rooms dying from not having the most basic preventive health care, see the flu, and cancer as an example. 97% huh?

  • Hospitals have to treat emergencies. Regardless of health care. And having 1 in 10 people die to cancer from no health care is better than 4 in 10 because the expediency/quality is so poor.

  • Flawed logic. The point of preventive care is to treat/control an illness before it lands you in the ER, inevitably flooding the ER with preventive illness cases. ER visits also cost state governments millions. In California there is a shortage of ER hospitals.

1 person dying from a preventive or treatable illness seems excessive to me...

  • Fight! Fight! Fight! Then after you guys fight you guys can go to the hospital and have your health insurance take care of you.

  • I don't have any health insurance remember? So I'll probably end up skipping the ER because of the cost. Sit at home to try and heal my wounds only to find out I may have internal bleeding and slowly die of organ failure in my sleep or whilst waiting in the ER. God bless America.

  • Excellent opinion. Universal health care is the way to go.

  • But it's universal in Europe and Canada. Why not here? You should watch Sicko. That's a good documentary.

  • Also, those in Europe also get so much time off and family days to spend with their children. They even get a free helper to help with the children. They emphasize so much on health and family and how important it is.

  • I'm a European living in the north of Ireland. We have have had a national health service (government funded) for the whole duration of my life (i'm now 30) and although we sometimes complain about the quality and standards of it's impementation i have never disputed it's existance. I can still remember learning, whenever i was a child, that America don't have the same, and being deeply concerned for Americans as i knew how important it had been for me (being a very sickly as a child...

  • ... and watching relatives and friends go through periods of sickness).

  • Yeah, people will have to worry about quality of care. But I've also had a friend have a concussion and he went to the public hospital, and after 10-13hrs.... was not seen. And had to go back to work to survive and now still has problems. I feel like with Universal Healthcare he'd be better treated than that.

  • That's why I support the public option, but not universal health care.

  • Nobody is going to have "their money taken away". I'm not sure what source your misinformation is coming from, but try to understand that the overall benefit of this kind of reform far outweighs any burden put on the government.

  • Really? How do you think the government is going to pay for all of this, with hugs and candy?

They're going to pay for it with tax dollars.

  • yeah...how they are supposed to do

  • It would be a small tax increase that would cover the expense. I'm glad you know how things are paid for, but my problem is with your wording. "Getting their money taken away" makes it sound like the government is going to steal people's money and make them poor. I don't like scare tactics, which is why I don't like FOX or any kind of sensationalist news broadcasting -or public rants.

  • That's not scare tactics.

It's not me willingly giving them my money because I want to help people. It's them taking my money. Doesn't matter if it's a penny or 100% of my income.

  • They already take a large percentage of your income. What's another 0.5-1 percent? Do you know where every penny of your current tax dollars are being assigned? For all you know, some of those pennies could have been used to fill a bowl with that candy you mentioned earlier. I think you're just being spiteful, which is a definite obstacle in the humanitarian effort.

  • I didn't say I approved of everything they're spending it on now. Just because I don't agree doesn't mean I don't pay.

If this gets passed, I'll pay it, but I won't agree with it either.

  • Nobody was suggesting that you don't, nor wouldn't, pay taxes. We all pay taxes that are redistributed between programs that we, personally, may never, or will never, take part in, but we pay it anyway because we would get into trouble if we didn't. More importantly, we pay OUR taxes because others are reciprocating by paying THEIR taxes, which help to fund the programs that we DO take part in. A "program" could simply be the fixing of a road that we use, but others don't. We cover each other.

  • you have a job right? you pay for Insurance right?

well if the gov let you walk into a hospital and get help without charging you a dime, then you wouldn't need to pay your monthly premium ---

which im sure would be more than the tax taken out of your check. way more.

  • I don't have insurance, actually. I can't afford it. And that isn't the point. You get what you pay for. There's a reason people pay what they pay for insurance. Medical treatments are a specialty. Those doctors went to school for yearssss. They deserve the right to charge for their procedures. What happens when they start getting less money? There's no incentive to become a specialist.

Why take the time to become a brain surgeon when the pay isn't viable vs being a general practioner?

  • you get what you pay for when it comes to snow tires. when you get medical treatment you expect the same quality as bill gates would get or Obama for that matter....

and someone without insurance you should be on the same side of the fence as me! seriously what if you got cancer or slipped and broke your wrist. you would be out a lot of money perhaps even bankrupt.

The quality of care wouldn't change if the government picked up the tab. It would actually get better

  • the quality of care would only improve. in part because they would need to cut costs so that means no unnecessary tests or treatments just right to the point and preventative care. right now the way things are the more tests and injections and stuff the better for the doctor and hospital treating the person. the more tests and treatments the more they can charge the insurance companies. and the sicker you stay the more money comes in.

it's a total conflict of interest! think about it.

  • then EVERYTHING would be a total conflict of interest. Because you just described capitalism. The quality would NOT improve. Go look up how it's worked so far in other countries. Why don't you look up what happened to the quality of -everything- in socialist countries.

  • your wrong about the quality going down look at Malta or France! the quality is the best in the world! and they are more free than anyone in the USA...

Eu is more of a free nation that the USA! for one they dont tell their citizens where they can and cannot travel and make it Illegal to go to certain countries! thats not free is it! limiting where you can go legally!!!!! thats the opposite of free

  • Socialized programs within a capitalist country yields vastly different results than those within a completely socialist/communist country. In other words, you're making an unfounded comparison. Free trade will still exist in this country -even within the Healthcare world.

(I don't mean to pick on you. I just prefer to focus on one person instead of a dozen)

  • There are plenty of non socialist countries that have socialized health care. Those countries have issues as well.

  • All countries have issues -with or without socialized healthcare. We know a Utopian society will never exist, but to suggest that a country's problems are compounded by taking care of it's people is faulty. If problems arise from the cost of care, then there needs to be further reform or changes made in the way things are run. It's like replacing a wire in a circuit and finding that there's short in a fixture. The problem isn't with the wiring being laid out, but with the poor design of the fixt

  • and you wouldn't need to worry about being turned down for a preexisting condition. that is a huge problem for people when it comes to getting help from your insurance company.

they look for any reason not to pay! thats actually someones job at your insurance company, to find reasons not to pay for your health care. think about it they dont want to pay for you! they want to keep every dollar that comes in. not give it to the doctors and hospitals thats not in their interest.

  • Yes, that is an issue. And frankly, shouldn't really be surprising. Why would they accept what they KNOW will be a trade of your 400$ insurance payment for an instant 10000$ hospital bill?

Would rather have that (Btw, there's plans that don't exclude pre-existing conditions), than have the quality/timeliness of -all- my care decline.

  • Those "plans that don't exclude pre-existing conditions" don't really help much when they're presented with a hospital bill of $10,000. Like you said, "why would they [pay for what they know is a bad deal],"? Having insurance doesn't mean your bill is completely covered. I'm sure you're aware of that fact, but you sound like someone who has never been through any kind of serious illness. If you haven't, then, hopefully, you never will. You'll be in over your head, otherwise -IF you want to live

  • So as to not ignore the point/statement you were making at the end, I think it should be said that, if there is a push to have people living healthier lives, then there should, ultimately, be fewer people waiting in line for your PCP or at the ER. As it is, you may not have to wait that long to see your PCP, but the emergency rooms at hospitals are as packed as they can be since that's the only way some people can be cared for. If they had PCPs, then they wouldn't need to clog up the ERs.

  • (Sorry to keep going on like this.) The quality of care SHOULD remain the same if not for any other reason than the Hippocratic Oath. Since I've already argued my point about the number of patients, I'll address the funding issue as best I can (it's late and I'm tired). The doctors should still be, and will be, compensated fairly for their work. Specialists, who're concerned about their jobs, should realize that they're still needed for proper treatment. Their time will just be better utilized.

  • ***Life*** liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

  • My uncle has health insurance and after his heart attack he still owes half a million dollars in medical bills. They lost their house and both cars. Now his wife and 5 kids (including a newborn infant) are struggling to just find somewhere to sleep at night. Same thing happened to a neighbor after she got into a car accident..shes a single mom too. it just sucks... I'm a tax payer and I am willing to pay more if it help just one person in my family....

  • I cant even think of having a system like the US.

Free health care is such a relieve to have. Go Obama! It will make life easier for everyone.

  • i have health insurance, but i can't really afford it. i just racked up the bills (about 700 dollars in two months, which is more than i pay in rent for two months!) so i decided to just pay 116 for the most basic healthcare i can find, but even THAT'S a lot for me, on top of student loans and trying to make it as a photographer.

i'm 100% pro health care reform.

also, i'm glad you made a video. =)

  • The health reform could be the first step to you getting a brain implant douche.

  • Health care is not a handout. If you're in an accident, your government should see to it that you're taken care of with out a huge fee.

  • this is chock full of grammatical errors. maybe we should've spent more money on public education so people like you would stop using words like "thru" and learn to could properly punctuate.

you, more than anyone, should be rallying money towards social programs.

    sucka.

  • Wow, seriously? Well, hell, while we're at it, let's make all schools, fire departments, and police departments strictly private institutions as well.

Your house could be burning to the ground, but the fire department can't do anything until your information is sorted out, sorry. Being robbed? Yeah, no help unless you pay their outrageous fee there. What? No money left to pay for your kids schooling now that you paid for all of that? Sucks for little Timmy, huh?

  • Are you talking to me? If you are, I don't understand your comment...

  • Heh... no, I was responding to an earlier, ridiculous comment made by drharris2020, sorry.

  • what i think your failing to see, is that in a real capitolist society, those problems wouldnt happen, they would be prevented the natural way. if people werent getting helped in emergencies, someone who could help would step up, because they best businesses should be allowed to thrive. furthermore, you dont need to go to years of schooling to be a cop or fireman, doctors who actually do, have a real "right" to charge whatever the hell they want

  • Canada baby !

  • Nice. Agreed. :)
