this city used to be great when my grandparents moved here, now look at it. i am scared to leave my house. this town will be wiped off the face of the map in five years
I agree with hatewhenthathappens.I dont get all this HATE for the irvings. If it werent for irvings this place would be a damn ghetto. Please people, think for yourselves and quit repeating what the negative guy says just because you think whats coming out of his mouth is cool or whatever. Also, quitcherbitchin
Thanks to the Irvings, Saint John IS a ghetto. Almost all of the trees are cut down, its mostly concrete, it smells bad because of the pulp mill and refinery and everyone is moving out of the city. Look at the state of Princess St. Irving wrecked this town with the help of city council, Elsie Wayne and a load of other people who towed the line. Very Sad! Its my old home town too and I find it depressing to visit. Saint John is a city that was!
Yup! there's mmuch more to S.J. than friggin' Irving Oil. Film it's natural beauty instead of what is giving all the fine folks of this city cancer. I did not enjoy this video as I know S.J. is so much better than an advertisment for the Irving Empire. I lived there for 4 years and left my daughter in this city. That's where my heart is, an outsider from Montreal wishing he was home in Saint John.
gasp there is more to saint john than irving? lol hard to belive, but, since i have lived her almost 23 years it is true becuase there is Irving and Tim Hortons
JESUS... it looks like a commercial for the IRVING empire!!! Sorry I guess you can't photograph Saint John without half of the footage being IRVING related.
amongst other incredible things they have done.. When a child from one of their partnership schools graduates from Saint John High or St. Malachy's.. as long as they are the top from their peers in their old school.. they are automatically awarded a scholarship of $5000.00 for 4 years.. that's $20,000.00 per child I call that pretty amazing.. like our city! YEA Saint John!
I've just read the comments about Irving... yea they stink up the town... BUT that's employment! They have done sooo much for our environment otherwise. My daughter graduated from middle school the other day.. we took her prom pics in the Loyalist graveyard... how many cities can say that? Speaking of her and Irving.. She graduated from Saint John the Baptist/King Edward K-8 School and Irving ..with their partnership agreement ..
They sure have, the pulp mill, the refinery, chopping down all the trees, stinking up the water and putting people out of work! Irving is a failure when it comes to the environment AND contributing to the city. Saint John is a dying city! The only part where there is modest development is on the East Side. Just look at all of the drug addicts uptown. Irving chewed, screwed and bbq'ed the maritimes. He should be tarred and feathered! Wake up... Irving is a pox on the martimes!
Yea SAINT JOHN!! (not St. John) God I love this town! Grew up here.. lived in F'ton.. lived in Monkeytown... visited everywhere .. always came back here... I love this town! Good work! Hope Ivan Court puts this on SJ's website!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

No, but i believe Enya(who sings this song) had something to do with the soundtrack, or it just sounds an awful lot like it,lol, Some else may be able to answer, Thanks, Rick,,,,
Good thing you got the 2 major poluters un there. Why do kids there all have asthma? Maybe the pulp mill and the refinery? Makes me glad i moved away 16 years ago.
I left SJ about 15 years ago. I miss the friendly people and the beautiful scenery but I DO NOT miss the I R V I N G signs posted everywhere. LOL! Thanks for posting this video.
Actually most of what comes out of the refinery is steam(They made some changes with all the crap they were putting in the air a few years ago). Still its not exactly clean but its not like they are spewing horrible gases and dumping toxic waste and eating puppies :P.
Hey i am from Saint john Lived North and i now what big oager your taking about, its Jeff durning and you would not say that to his face, cause he would rip your face off with his hand and give you a suplex. I moved to calgary to work. This video makes me want to come back. I will after i make a couple of bucks and have a trade of some sort.

Ha, no it wasn't him that threw me around but i'm sure he would have. We never used padding in our makeshift ring, we just threw our jackets on the ground for each corner on the grass and hoped for the best,IoI. This area is picking up quite a bit for development, come back when you're able,, Wooo Hooo. Rick,,,
i myself would have loved to see the city market (smoked salmon anyone?) or perhaps germaine street. i would even have settled for kay park. but heck you're a north-ender.
IoI. We should all get together with the cameras and really make a cool vid of the city, and maybe a few deathmatches in between. less the blood. Rick,,,,
Ha, we used to wrestle all the time growing up in the north end, i used to get my butt kicked by this big oager of a guy. It was a blast though, i took martial arts in my 20's and miss it somewhat. i am a huge ufc fan also. i think i may just let u guys duke it out, u seem to do it quite well on ur own.IoI.
Hi Rickster, thanx for the vid. My house at 4 St. Paul St is now flattened. Spent my formative years in St. John (grades 1-6) and have many fond memories...Lily Lake, the Arches, the Market, on and on, thanx again
Awsome, i used to go to church there as a child before the fire took down the chapel side. i know that area well, i was a north ender,IoI. a lot has changes over the years, a lot has been torn down and new buildings galore. Hope to make more vids in the future, thanks for the comment, Rick,,,,
Hey Rickster that's a beautiful area where you live and the video is very nicely done . . .especially using the sepia mixed in with the color. Just so I don't have to get my atlas (it's early) where is New Brunswick in relation to say Toronto or Montreal?
Thanks, we are in atlantic canada at the southern end of New Brunswick. Newfoundland is just to the East and Halifax is to the south across the Saint John Harbour. It is NB's port city. Rick,,,,

Saint John is a beautiful city, too bad there is no sound track.
I have visited the city about four times, and stayed at the campground above the highway, where years ago I saw a huge comet in the late night sky.
